  1. its a great piece if you can get it for cheap! bear in mind : no real cokcpit. no landing gears. removable heat-shield. other than that, I think its fairly OK.
  2. I wouldve jumped into the 1/100 Hi metal line if they have integrated heat shield/landing gears...but the proportions are great!
  3. Ooh, spartan! SDF would be good too, but I doubt it, given how toynami like to simplify their design a.k.a resorting to the cheaper alternative, like what they did to the regult leg joint in their production version...
  4. correct me if Im wrong, but I believe he mentioned in a few posts back that it would be "financially discouraging" for the buyers if people were to print these off shapeways. So, the other option is to do plastic injection moulding, which would require a huge sum of money for mould cutting.
  5. I want the tomahawk & Regult! I wonder what the chase figure is?. Possibly just a recolor 1J max or 1A CF? : Figures include the following: · Rick Hunter · VF-1J Miriya · VF-1A Max · VF-1S Skull Leader · Battlepod · Destroid Tomahawk . Plus possible chase figure
  6. Maybe its Arcadia's pricing thats more of a concern to the new collectors. Buy now or suffer later from the new MSRP's
  7. 30th Anny isnt all that bad in fighter mode. Esp when you cant decide which one, of all the VF-1 you have, thats gonna be left in fighter mode. In fact, after looking at Gakken's picture, I transformed my 30th Anny valk from gerwalk to fighter and it'll be staying in fighter mode. Gonna have to get another one for cheap to display in gerwalk. *flips table*
  8. OK, I changed my mind and decided to fix it today : 1) I disassembled the whole thing and have sand/wash/re-painted majority of the parts that were affected, mainly the upper cockpit fuselage and left tight areas. Theyre all waiting to dry now. 2) The most affected area, (and thank god the easiest to repaint) is the heatshield. It's now soaking in pine-sol. Will paint strip and repaint it next weekend. 3) Need to re-coat chestplate with semi-gloss paint. Will get the same coat that I used the 1st time (Tetor semi-gloss) that I saw available at a walmart location thats further away from my place. Crossing my fingers now. Hope semi-gloss coat will fix the issue. And of course a very big thanks to EXO, 505thAirborne and CrazyDude for the great mod tips! Greatly apreciate it!
  9. EXO, not sure about the type of paint since I threw it away after finding out what it did to my custom.. Thanks crazydude, keeping it in a cabinet and will see if I have the time to repair it
  10. Thanks for the tips. but I think the paint is beyond repair. The paint in some areas like the cockpit now has cracks on em. Maybe the coat melted the paint underneath and for some reason accelerated the drying, causing crack lines. Areas with black paint are now grey-ish, and all surfaces felt rough. Man, to think that that was the last step of the custom. Im gonna take a break before repairing or attempting a second round at it.
  11. Sad news. Bought a can of matte spray can (not sure why I decided to use matte when Ive been using semi-gloss all this while - for some reason I was thinking that matte = semi-gloss) Sprayed it on the custom and walla. the whole thing now looks like its been dipped in sugar frost coating. homigod . And so, thats the end of the JM's life that Ive been working on in my spare time for the past 3 weeks. Maybe I should take it apart and pine-sol it. but I wont have the time to work on it anymore until late August as project is now on high gear at the U. So, sayonara my little friend . Its been a good learning experience
  12. lol. its ikea Billy. seems they have a bunch of options to mod the Billy ikea line into a display/book cases. they even have a height extension unit for cheap if you need to lift the height (for display). As for the 30th, I'll just let them reconcile their differences in a confined space. pretty sure they'll work things out since they only have each other. yeap. cramped apartment while finishing my PhD...cant wait to get done with studies! the hatch and ammo magazine of the yellow destroid was deliberately opened to show the details...the hatch is on the lower right and the magazine is on the lower left of the same picture. that 1A is a living proof to the other JM's not to bathe in the sun! That'll keep them from escaping through the windows!
  13. Thanks! Prolly gonna have to clear coat it again due to the thickness of arcadia's sticker sheet. Its killing me!.
  14. finished decaling today. Arcadia sticker sheet sucks big time. You can see how thick it is compared to Yamato's destroid sheet. Anyways, whats done is done and I'll just re-coat it tomorrow :
  15. Missed the Black Friday sale on HLJ but luckily just a few days after release I saw one on ebay. Bought it for $30 lower than MSRP (maybe seller scored on the BF HLJ sale) & used $45 ebay bucks = $75 discount! And to make things sweeter, the seller was local. So shipping was free since it was a local pickup. Almost felt like living in Japan to have the item picked up as soon as payment is made.
  16. Seriously, my custom JM looks naked. Gonna need to slap more decals tonight. Decal-ing toys cannot wait! Anywhoo..here's my growing JM collection :
