I know right? You'd think at close to $300, we'd be getting self-transforming toy Valkyries a la those seen in the Macross Frontier movie. In all seriousness though, while that'd be a really cool addition, I think it would end up being a useless one, as I kinda doubt the Battoroid mode would have enough articulation to make use of it anyway.

which src box size would you be referring to? mazinkaiser's box was pretty big for an src too, so a longer version of that would be pretty big. cool review btw. it's comforting to know that. the cape turned out very nicely, and that it holds well to the figure

I see Sentinel has once again opted for their XBOX huge packaging boxes. hahaha While it's a point that really aggravates me, I'm really looking forward to receiving mine next month (grouped shipping)

I can't believe I still have this in my cupboard... It was my very first Macross Valk purchase, and one that I lived to regret because of how crappy it was.

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!
SaitouSad replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
actually, (If I'm not mistaken) the reason for the trend of companies releasing blu-rays strictly for Japan only is due more to the fact that Japanese fans had previously reversed imported cheaper International releases, thus undercutting their local sales. To curb this, they have slowed down / stopped licensing blu-ray releases to the US and instead taken to release the same (expensive) original Japanese releases, but with english subtitles (to cater to small percentage of international fans willing to buy them). One of the first companies that did this I believe was Aniplex (see the complete box set for their Gurren Lagann Blu-Ray release) That and licensing issues make it more complicated for Macross releases I guess. I hope moving forward they could take the time to have at least English subtitles on all Macross releases. It'll certainly help boost sales of the Blu-Ray, and help to avoid dealing with licensing issues.- 286 replies

So, for the peeps who have this already, how are the joints? Can we expect VF-25A CF quality tightness?

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!
SaitouSad replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
After a week of deliberating, I pulled the trigger and ordered this on Amiami. Gotta support that english subs addition (even if it's only for the movies). While I didn't enjoy the 1st movie, I liked the 2nd movie enough (as far as story goes, Frontier's plot isn't exactly very good imo, but I like the show nonetheless).- 286 replies

Thinking if I should just fork out the dough for these, or wait and get the abridged Hybrid Blu-ray movie set next year- 104 replies

Would love a video recording of that! Ahhh a man can dream..

Hope joints are tight and that it doesn't become as floppy as the Alto one.

man, for some reason I stopped getting updates in my email. Was totally surprised by the YF-29 Isamu Super Parts (not really.. we all know Bandai's greed knows no bounds)

I've been pretty excited about the high speed mode, but man does that look scarily fragile. hope it's made of something durable... like die cast or whatever

I just received both Jehuty ands Blodia Riot, and took both of them out for a brief personal preview (I left their accories in). I gotta admit, I was a little underwhelmed by Jehuty. He came in a HUGE box, and had a ton of accessories. but his figure felt pretty light, considering it was originally thought he would have a fair bit of diecast. That said, the toy is very nicely detailed, and the plastic is moulded very nicely. There's some really nice engineering design to give it more articulation which I really liked. Also a number of clear pieces were used on the face and the shoulder, which really gives it a quality feel. That said, I don't think it was worth the asking price of 11,000 yen I paid, but probably should be closer to the Blodia (red) prices. To be fair though he has a ton of accories, but comes in a box that I felt was a little too big. They really need to stop putting out such huge boxes and learn to minimize it like Bandai's releases. To put it on context, Jehuty feels a lot like the Gurren Lagann one they put out way back, which I really liked. Blodia Riot (Yellow) is pretty darn impressive though as I was a little disappointed with the quality of the original Red release. It's very hefty with all the diecast, and I love the heck out of the finger articulation. Joints are tight and the figure is very well painted. Again, I think it could have been a tad cheaper. His box is fat, but not as long as the Jehuty one. I wished they had made the Rocket / Big Ass Arm on the Green version a right hander, as it would be awesome to swap parts and have a Blodia Riot with 2 rocket arms.

QFT. I joined MW only last October, and already I've amassed quite a collection over the course of a year. Not to mention most of my purchases were heavily discounted. I am already on the road to financial ruin.

So I recently got around to putting the original Yamato 1/60 v1 (I think) on display - long story involving moving house and my stuff over the course of a year. To put it simply, the YF-19 still remains my all time favourite design. Fiddling around with it, I can see and understand why so many people are hungry for a new and better engineered one from Arcadia, even if it costs the same as a VF-4. The v1 is really quite terrible in any mode other than Fighter. You can barely get it to pose in anything other than a normal standing pose, and it's pretty much flimsy and loose all over. Not to mention it was my 2nd Yamato YF-19 after the original 1/72 scale toy. It's through handling the v1 that I really came to feel less regret about preordering the expensive Arcadia one. I really hope they don't screw it up. Their VF-19s (Which I also handled recently) were truly the best it could have gotten. I think I'll probably be selling the v1, and if possible the older 1/72 toy, to make space for the Arcadia version.

Guess I'm SOOL then. They haven't replied, and I guess by now they would have already hit their 200 slots quota..

This was done by the same dude who did that cel-shaded RX-78 Gundam http://kotaku.com/5964180/this-gundam-model-looks-right-out-of-the-anime-literally/

You and I know all we'll need is the VF-25S reissue.. then I think I'm done with the DX Chogokins... until the YF-30 that is...Though it seems we may get that first.

what Chrono said. Funny how this happened heh.

I just got the same notice... not sure if they're just playing it safe. I suspect it's because they've had numerous cancellations close to release date before. Afterall, many folks here cancelled their VF-171CF, VF-27, RVF-25 and possibly the VF-25A CF; And weren't there a fair share of YF-29 30th cancellations too? It would certainly explain the surplus of stocks left in their inventory post release. Though this being a web-exclusive, shouldn't really be the case. Off course this is all just conjecture on my part.

D'oh! I done goofed up. Thanks! I really like what I've seen so far.

so those missle pods only hold 1 missle each? man I though they held 1 container of micro missles each. anyway im totally cool with the design. when we have transforming jets and fast /armored packs that work in atmospheric environment, I think we can allow a little suspension of disbelief. that said it's a damn shame the wings just hang out like that (as with the whole 25-29 series), but it really sticks out here. depending on the price I would probably aim for 2.

Calling it now.. the biggest issue we will all face will be the fragile looking tailfins.. they're just supported on 1 rod each.. I kid off course, I hope they don't need to resort to a v2.0, and work it out from the get go like they did the YF-29 (for the most part anyway).
