One problem: If you turn out ships at the factory sattelite's maximum output, then you're going to end up with more ships than you do crews. It's kinda wasteful to do it that way. The UN Spacy probably builds less ships, but at a faster rate. theres always "strategic cloning" and repopulation...
-
really? even by 2045 the UN only has one factory sattelite? i figured they would have acquired more post SWI while expanding and what not owell

well, the megaroad was solely built for colonization purposes, and the main structure was built solely to house the city, so i guess the mystery ships were fused with the main structure for the sole purpose of ship defense, etc. its kind of like the military ship in macross 7 in the fleet... but what is interesting is that in the original design of the sdf-2 you see ARMDs connected to the hull dyrl style.
-
lol they're not ARMDs. but they are some sort of carrier.god the megaroad vessels were oddly designed. weld a bunch of big things together and throw a glass bubble in.

i liked the intro to macross zero with a new perspective on the unification wars, but i feel like it was made to suit the present that we are actually living in, rather than the future seen from 1982. i don't really like the fact that Mzero ties into contemporary warfare and such- it loses its imaginary aspect and gets kind of bland with (gasp) dull modern warfare. ep3 was nice because we see the destroid prototypes and some nice battles, but before that, i wasn't very interested in the show; the music bothered me during the action sequences, the characters and silly jokes weren't all that funny, and i am pretty sure that many things are going to go unanswered in the next 2- 30 min episodes. I don't think we will know anything about the Roy/Ivanov rivalry, something i wanted to look forward to when i first saw ep2, and i've always wanted to see ASS-1/SDF-1 in the show (Aries has referred to it in ep1) but i really doubt it. whenever i see a prequel like this, i always look forward to it answering all the questions i have only to not get any of them answered.

all i've seen of the megaroad is its images in FB2012 and its lineart which is shown all over the internet. i was wondering if there were any other more informative pics, if so, please be so nice as to scan/post them. i want to see more of this colony//fortress.

i know that around 3000 people died during the anti-UN raid on an oberth while falling back from Salla base, but those were refugees and crewpersonnel, so does anyone know the standard crew number for oberths and ARMDS ?

its a cold war design for the USAF ironically its nickname is valkyrie.

i fell in love with Macross '82 for two reasons: it had a plot which actually affected the viewer with good music use and when i saw hikaru's vf-1j and that bad ass visor, i can't explain the awe i felt. i like Macross 7 because of its mecha and its use of colorful characters; it shows us that an anime universe is a wide one with people that some like and some that people dont; this is unlike gundam in which every series has some masked wierdo dropping some asteroid on someone while fighting a rebellious teen developing into a man, or into a lame -ass teen aka cliche killing machine. i guess i like Macross because of its "realism" if you can follow; its emotions and drama are more poignant than other animes; i feel it doesn't get as much respect as it deserves because its mecha isn't the main star of the show, although they do contribute

i'd love to agree if they used it more often in the tv series. past ep 13, i can't remember the macross using the pinpoint. random thought - couldve conserved energy in ep 36 and wasted it on a final dedalus attack on kamjin, or maybe not. . . The pin point barrier system was shown in other instances, including the final battle with Bodolzaa's fleet in Episode 27 "Love Drifts Away" (specifically during the SDF-1's penetration of Boldolzaa's mothership). Also, earlier episodes established the PPB as a viable system onboard the Macross and thus it's unnecessary for the creators of the show to feature the PPB in use as an annoying repetitive sequence every single episode of the series. lol that's a good point. has anyone here seen/remember the cartoon The Centurions, where these guys have these suits that connect to airplane parts, boat parts, etc. you have, good, you get my point with half of every episode taking up the transformation time. POWER EXTREME. k im done reminiscing, back to my insane amount of late spring break homework/

i suppose that theory is better than the "chewing gum" used in Gundam '79 to patch up holes.

i think theres only that bigF*CK off window and a bunch of levels in the command tower. you think that there are a bunch of small windows from watching the scenes with cpn gloval and the bunnies from their area, but its only a "shelf" of the whole tower.
-
no doubt its strong- but you gotta imagine the bridge surrounded by a few q raus, or shot at by a few regults in the glass section. i mean, at least in gundam series (as much as i dislike the ships in that series) they wore spacesuits and had various countermeasures should a hull breach occur, but in macross, its sit and die, or run and die. they should at least have spacesuits on during battles. of course, because of the unexpected launch/surprise attack, maybe they were ill equipped, but still.

if theres one thing i learned from Return of the Jedi, its not to put a command tower portruding from the main structure of a ship. hey, the zentraedi had it right. but anyway, i don't think i'm the only one who notices the HUGE bubble of glass surrounding the main tower, and yet the only close call we see with this ulimately vulnerable structure is in DYRL with the N-Ger which miraculously gets vaporized by Hikaru. i guess i'm asking if anyone knows if the bridge was better protected than what i am assuming, and if not, laugh, laugh at the lucky survivors of humanity. i myself guess its just really thick glass, or maybe its OT glass, or maybe its not glass at all but a magical lazer barrier. correct me. please.

i always wanted to see a series based on a regular low-ranking VF group fighting aboard the Macross. i just like the atmosphere of the utter impossibility of winning that war and the ability to see it in new animation. hmm, there is the problem of keeping the three pilots ALIVE for the whole show..... o well, i guess the leader would survive the traumatizing war and his two wingmen would die somewhere... but seriously, how psychologically degrading did fighting in deep space on one ship vs a few hundred (or thousand later) (or millions later) affect a vf pilot? its worse than world war I, and there are few things that are.

VF-1S - i'd love to cruise in my S -type with people addressing me as Major and i'd conversely enjoy barking orders to an entire squadron of underlings. im excited now. damn reality.

I'm pretty sure that no Monster was ever destroyed onscreen, at least in SDF Macross and DYRL. And unfortunately the monsters that actually survived were used for target practice. This reminds me of the story of Battleships. The Battleship was king of the sea until the weak little carrier came along with it's swarm planes. Now it seems all the Battleship and it's big guns are worth for is museium peices, scrap metal, and target practice for fighters. Shesh, Destroids deserve more respect. yeah it pisses me off to think the idea of a well armed cruiser these days consists of like 3-4 phalanx CIWS and a few missile launchers. wheres the character? where are the big guns!??! ahhh so does anyone think there was competetive rivalry between the destroids and vf units? like it was all like "biatch, i kill more and i transform" and destroids are like" biatch, we get shot up and we look cool dyin" and valkyries are like "biatchhh we look cooler when we die" i just don't think destroids were used during the 2045s- they seem like something that stayed around during the vf-4's service, but after that i don't think ther was much destroidage. we don't see much of that during M7, but M7 is so "wonderfully unique" in some ways that i wouldn't be surprised if destroids were present, but certain things were focused on.... certain..annoying......things..... dont get me wrong, i loved M7, but my one complaint was that the entire BGM comprised of fire bomber, i wish it was more like Macross with music that suited the role in a less stylized manner.
-
basically, we see that destroids with the exception of the monster got chewed up against the zents. i can vividly remember seeing milia vaporize a few while delivering ware rori and konda on their mission. anyway, in the FB2012 era of colonization fleets, i would think it more reasonable to maybe integrate nossdicant spell-ger and quadellan raus for ship defense. does anyone know the true story? the only times i recall seeing destroids after Macross are in the Minmay Video episode of M7 and when Isamu vaporizes a Monster while testing the YF-19 out.

Alternate VF-19 FASTpack?
dedalus001 replied to the white drew carey's topic in Movies and TV Series
i agree. M7 fast packs looked odd in fighter mode, but in battroid, well, all i can say is a wow (in nauseating disgust, of course) M7 mecha designs in general ticked me off because they were all so simplistic and cartoony. you'd think the vf-19g in M7 was the prototype for the more developed YF-19 in Plus. i have seen lineart of a vf-19 with the SW1 fastpacks i shall search. -
i just remembered: watch the first 5 minutes or so of Dedalus Attack: running jumping, climing trees, shooting a pistol, and err.. the disposition of being a flying ace already and transforming to fire off a few rounds in b mode.

im afraid that criteria's a bit too steep for macrossians. its much more the russian WWII approach of "one man gets a magazine, the other gets a rifle, when you charge, pick up a rifle from a dead comrade, and continue on" i'd love to be a chief operator, i'd get such a rush off of screaming "YANKEE SCRAMBLE" all day.

"person x was a regular japanese schoolboy WHEN, he accidentally opened an interdimensional time rift and met a bunch of comically satisfying demonic co-stars" oh, thats another formula. umm you have to want to look absolutely bad ass with that sick valkyrie helmet visor and you need to be able to--who am i kidding half the time you watch any battle in macross, you see roy talking on the screen talking to whoever and in the background, do you know what you see? explosions. not enemy explosions. the kind of explosions that happened to take off from the prometheus. "valkyrie squadrons green and brown are completely destroyed!" "skull is our only hope now" exxaccttllyy
-
Actually, the line reads, "Skull-1 to Delta-1. . ." my apologies- havent watched the movie for a long long time and i lost my copy of it.
-
waitwaitwait. but aha!: hikaru refers to himself as "delta 1" during the final battle with the bodolzaa fleet. so maybe because skull squadron basically got torn to shreds when it lost max and kakizaki, hikaru joined delta squadron? then again. it could be a cool flashy movie name for "he who must shoot many things at the enemy leader" and nothing more.
