Culture shock can be many things. It's just a name given to that type of experience. From a religious point of view, it's called seeing the light. It can also be a situation when someone receives an epiphany or a realisation thru seeing things at a different perspective. It's like a child learning things in his or her early stages of education. It's not neccessarily porn. But porn is only one of these "realisations" - it's a medium as an alternative to using conventional weapons. Just like Minmay's music. Just like Basara's or Mylene's music. Just like Sara's songs. Culture was the first name given to that phenomenon. Anima Spiritia is more or less a better name (that is coined) later for that science. Think of Anima Spiritia as some sort of super-powered, heart-rending soap opera, sardined into a song. Think of the Zentradis, the Protodevlins as housewives sobbing as Anima Spiritia tugs at their heart strings. There is no denying that porn will work. But if Kawamori and gang were to show this, Macross will not exist. Just think of the Macross universe as a ideal world without porn as how Star Trek is without the need to use currency. It's not that hard.

I've just received my MP Prime... I gotta say only this - It's a Godaikin toy reborn. One of the toy Gods must be feeling extremely generous. I was told his name is Kobayashi Hinori. Guys, I've just been blessed by "the touch". Diecast is no longer a lost art. Convoy has just brought light to the darkest era of new age transforming toys.

Nobody is accusing anyone of not understanding M7 just because they don't like it. How M7 was made to be, is just a distinctive styling (both visual and conceptual wise) that every feature presentations out there try to carry - nothing else. I like how Panon has put it that... I hate to say this, but the greatest enemy to the M7 detractors (as well as detractors of other shows) here is not the final product itself, but their unbelievably high expectations they burdenned on themselves. Also, I'd like to add this from Final Vegeta's post... Every feature presentations too, carry with it an ultimate idea that the makers want to convey. The story and how the characters in M7 are crafted to behave, are exactly why it's been made that way. Finally, Radd's Basara money shot... Personally, I think it's been a double-edged blade decision. Many people do not identify with Basara being the geeky embodiment to that force of nature. But hey, who died and made anyone the rule maker? M7 borrowing heavily from Mac 2 as far as music is concerned could simply mean Kawamori has only partial say so on what goes in during post-production. To Big West, it's simply a cheaper alternative than say, hire more song writers and musicians to churn out new material -- Not because he's publicly known for hating Mac 2, and is now eating his words because of M7. Think of it as how Yamato have kept reusing the same mold for the many different valk color schemes and yet many people are still buying with little or no complains. M7 is only the Macross franchise's weakest link by some opinion. If the show is seriously insulting and irritating, knowing Kawamori and gangs' standards, it would've been shelved at it's pre-production stages. Personally, I think people who are genuinely interested in M7 would check the show out regardless of what's being said here. If anything, M7 might not win too many passionate converts, but it won't intentionally create people who despise it either.

An open discussion is about seeking an understanding. Constant incoherent bashing with "creative" put-downs that are obviously working too hard - not to mention straining them out repeatedly at every single opportunity available, are something else.

Hilarious!

It's kind of wierd that everytime when a M7 thread comes up, the usual suspects who are against it would bash the show again and again, with the same contrived and jaded reasonings. Why do these people even bother if they don't like it at all, and why do they go thru all the trouble to debate the M7 fans when all they have for the show is nothing but contempt, is totally beyond me. Now, I would probably understand the need to bash M7, had the TV series, the OAV and movie were made JUST yesterday. But this has been going on for what..... as old as Macross World, maybe even the AFM days itself? Don't any of the old members think the novelty of the hate M7 should have died by now? Hell, even Robotech or Macross 2 don't get bashed as much these days! If Robotech hating can be somewhat outlawed here, why are M7 fans allowed to be riled for sport? If Macross Plus is considered (by them) to be the truer sequel to the original SDF Macross, so be it. Why not allow M7 to be the other true sequel for it's fans? There are so many other things in M7 that are just not Singing Valkyries or Sailormoon-ish leading characters. Put those "plus" points together with SDF Macross, Mac Plus and Zero, we would get a near flawless anime mecha show that would last us a life time of sweet macho memories - And yet some of us would utilize the time to focus on the pussified aspects of it. Brilliant!

Are you in the Military or did you join?
Beware of Blast replied to DatterBoy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Does having a wife who runs my life like the military count? We don't discuss things in bed no more, ever since she made herself a captain, I've no choice but follow orders. -
Just turned 30 last month.

5+ years now with the girl I grew up with. Would like to marry again, but the wife said I can't keep her after that.

That's funny you mention that......I was surfing (i.e. lurking) around some Transformers forums which shall remain nameless for now. It seems that some of them thought Macrossworlders "spammed" last years TOYBOXDX "Toy of the Year" Contest. Is there any truth to this? They also seem to have forgotten that the same MW people who "spammed" last years TOYBOXDX "Toy of the Year" Contest, are also gonna do it again this year with the VF1J or probably the MP OP. They're also worrying about the transfans now. Come on ToyboxDXers, most MWers are also fans and collectors of so many other anime robot toys. If one particular toy stands out among the rest, it's because that toy is that great - Passion can only carry a toy so far. If the toy is not worth the vote it will not be TOTY.
-
In that case, make sure you secure your current order with the current supplier before you cancel the one you have with HLJ. I'm really tired of the OP's scarcity news ala Dancouga/1/48 fastpacks incidents... Makes me wonder if they're REALLY that limited or it's the filthy scalpers at work.
-
Would it make any significant difference in pricing or shipping timing if you cancel? If not, just be patient. My cousin manage to buy one for me in Singapore. It was the last piece in the shop... could probably the last piece in the whole of Singapore as far as the first wave of stock is concerned!!! Ahem, but then again, at the height of my personal frenzied anticipation of that bloody toy, I tend to believe what people tell me.

Who's your favorite Soul Calibur II Character
Beware of Blast replied to Vostok 7's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man, you guys actually use almost all the characters in SC2! Makes me wanna go see a shrink cuz I only use Taki and Xianghua long time. -
It could be hinting at some possible G1 story they never air... kind of a continuity thing... You see, Starscream is always fighting with Soundwave for Megatron's attention. But he NEVER gets quality time with big pistol man robot. So he gets it from big truck man robot. Red Comet is gonna love this.

Totally Off Topic - But FREAKIN ME OUT
Beware of Blast replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
What if that mysterious person happens to be Huge, Ugly, Fat and Hairy Man who doesn't like using condoms? -
What da ya mean winning over the SOC Dancougar, maybe even the 1/48 line? It's winning over the the 1/48 Yamato already! It seems to me no one here dares to say it. I mean come on, even by just looking at the OP pictures, it's so friggin' obvious! And although it's not being really nice to the toy makers to compare toys of different shows, they are still, of the same category. I'm quite a fair judge on quality and ingenuity of products that are almost similar, plus, I own both the 1/48 Yammie and SOC Dancougar so I know what I'm saying. The 2003 ToyboxDX's TOTY should have gone to the SOC Dan, but too bad, Prime just arrived in time and whooped his ass.

Don't worry. I'm Transfholic : I mean that I bought and will buy all the Binaltech and Masterpiece line but just one of each LOL! Thanks for the consolation. But I know the chances are pretty slim already.
-
Damnit! I wish you guys would consider going easy on yer wallets and be content with just buying one of every toy you like. But Nooo, you all just GOTTA catch em all. Come on fellas, there are lots of people who are working the butts off to get OP also. Give these people (and me) a chance!

With threads like these, we get to learn how a Meltrandi ace private, um..... secures her privates. Care to do a couple of pics on how that might be accomphised? I'd love to but it will be at a later time.
-
Haha, it really sucks for a toy collector not having to live in HK or Singapore. No matter how you justify buying them expensive, it is no way anywhere as expensive for the rest of us. What's more, you're already buying two OPs and planning ahead for your future son! I'm getting my cousin who's in Singapore, to buy one on my behalf. Thanks for the short review of this OP and for the idea on the price recon. I hope I get lucky.

Hey recon, can you let us know how much you paid for your Optimuses? Will need to allocate the proper funds, AND brace myself, in case I don't get to buy one because people like you had to get more than one!
-
Yeah, that would be truly shockadoo! If only they would release a one-time set of 5 figures for both the SDF and M7 BBs -- Kim, Vanessa, Shammy, Sally and Miho Miho.
-
That's a superb pose for Basara! I hope the overall sculpts (especially the faces) are as good as the first set.

No way, my valkgirl is not worthy! I meant to say poseable but poseable is not saying much.
