...dangerously fragile?
-
It's beautiful, but will it be problem free? Thanks for the pix.
-
No. Yamato should recall ALL the 1/60 YF19s, and replace them with the brand new ones with everything reworked.
-
Damn... A dude's first wedding night would've been less daunting.
-
Good luck trying bro, cuz so many people who possess the YF19 (despite the fact it was being badly made) end up loosing it (our sanity) forever.
-
With the wrong type of materials used for delicate moving parts and the common sense (or the lack of it) at work everytime, any design will be jinxed the moment Yamato touches them.
-
Hey! I was AT LEAST magnanimous about the tape.
-
I don't think 3M Magic tapes are cheap. Other companies would just use clear plastic bags. The tape is just about the only thing on the YF19 that's isn't cheap! I'm not removing mine. LOL!
-
Oh but it does! And on top of protecting an already protected area from scratches, that other companies usually cover with a clear plastic baggie (with is enough), Yamato decides to use tape! And not just ANY tape... It has to be 3M Magic tape with frosted texture! All they need to do next is add the cost to the Macross fans and call it... forward thinking!

Yes. the rubber will fatten the hip block and break the hip/intake socket everytime you pose the legs. You may have not notice it at a glance but look closer - the first sign are hairline cracks appearing around the socket mouth.

You know what else are missing? Build Quality and Finishing. Other than that, it seems to me that POM, ABS and PVCs are the only materials they know and use all the time. There are SO many toy-making materials out there and they only use POM, ABS and PVCs as though they are the only thing available on the planet. After more than 6 years on the damn job! Bandai have been known to make good transforming SOCs out of so much more better materials than that and still manage to stay affordable, if not competitive. What's more, they are able to make new and different transforming toys for their collectors to pull off insane transformations without risking breakage or plastic stress. And then there is this backward-thinking that is synonymous with Yamato. They could stray a little from the original VF1 linearts to make collar-pegs to hold the chestplate securely for the 1/48 VF1s in battroid mode, but they omitted this initiative for the 1/60 VF0s and the YF19. On top of that, there is this list of other complaints that I'm sure you can read from the other threads... Yamato loves making squatting toilets when they know damn well the Macross collecting public can afford one with seat. Then they charge us as though it does come with a seat. I can't wait for another company to take up the Macross franchise. I hope Wave will be successful in making their SDF-Macross, then progress to make other transforming VFs. Yamato badly needs a stiff kick in the arse. Edit:- And oh, I do understand it is difficult to make transforming toys and the job become even more insurmountible for smaller companies like Yamato. But how difficult can it get? They have the license, tomes of official lineart and animation prints, Kawamori's guidance and his already world-famous toy designs with highly-covetable form factors, 6 years of experience and monetary resources and good third-party help... and all they need to do is just make damn sure the toys come out right.

I got two words... 3P. Why choose when you can have both?
-
Actually, if we just raise our standards a little and not blame ourselves on how we handled the valks everytime something breaks, everyone of Yamato's products have been POS. Maybe it's just me... I just can't stand my toys breaking or showing signs that it's about to break anymore I touch it. I don't see myself short changing my vendor or my vendor short changing Yamato for the products... so why should we be subjected to this sorta crap everytime?
-
I have... 2pcs 1/48 VF1 with hairline cracks at the hip/intake connector part 2pcs 1/48 VF1 with loose wings 1pc 1/72 YF21 with cracked shoulder sliders 1pc 1/72 VF11B broken at both hips 1pc 1/60 VF0S w/ light stressmarks signs on the grey shoulder joints. it's chestplate jiggles like Noriko Takaya. 1pc 1/60 YF19 w/ crooked gunpod, loose gerwalk feet and a chest plat that doesn't lock into place like the 1/48 VF1s... All have been gently transformed and posed periodically. Maybe some of you don't buy other toys like the transforming SOCs, Takara Transformers or some good 1/6 scale figures, but I do. And I compare their build quality to the Yamato stuff. My kudos goes to Yamato for their great CAD effort and sculpts. They suck at build quality and finishing. I seem to get this message that they trying to sell their customers half-arse products and profitting royally while doing it. There is no feel good factor or pride of ownership the way I use to feel when they first started out. To me, their crowning achievement is the 1/48 VF 1 (but that too didn't exactly made me like it instantly) everything else they made after that went downhill. And yes, it IS Yamato's fault.
-
Tell Yamato to give up on Macross and every other promising anime mecha projects they are going to undertake. Just give up. After six to seven years on the job, the only thing problem free are their promises. Everything else is just half-assed. If they feel they should take their customer base and their money for granted, they should try their hands on government projects.

The big issue here isn't just the price or toy. It's the COMPANY and the people who run it. Drifand once said... Yamato will always get it right the second time... almost. What we have here is an attitude problem.
-
Hmm, I dunno.. I've always had this impression should a product not sell well, there is very little chance it will see the light of a second run. [attachmentid=39188] With comments like that, anyone who should know not to buy in first generation would have immediately placed an order because it is suppose to be better.
-
$200+ pricepoint for such a highly anticipated toy by a company that only projected roughly about $30 worth of effort... And best of all, this isn't Yamato's first day on the job. How you guys manage to stay patient with your hard earned cash & civil with your constructive criticism is beyond me. I'll go lie down for a while now.

If this topic is about Mylene worship and the artworks posted are genuinely by the people who made Macross, I don't see why the thread can't be left as it is. Really people, sometimes it's just not about OUR opinions. The topic and what the author contributes are fine as it is. I can appreciate the fact that these pictures are rare and I can see them because someone is willing to share. Let's not loose perspective anymore shall we?

Rob Liefeld's Teen Titans
Beware of Blast replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Star power is the thing that got Rob Liefield work. His name could still pull readers and generate money. In a time of of-the-shelf, shrink-wrapped reading material, many comic readers will settle for a familiar name than gamble with a new talent. Plus, he could draw fast and understand script with little mistakes. He'll make a helluva storyboard artist but the bigger bucks are probably in comics. -
Time to blow up Robotech.Com

Must be the missiles.

If you're lucky, you'll be glad to catch the censored version. The unedited one has alot of unneccessary "cracks".

Not even with the free advertising they get from MacrossWorld's main page!

I may be punished for breaking some rules here, if it is to happen, so be it. But please, keep an open mind to this criticism when I say, I see wrong being done here when one of you lock it up. As a witness, WJ did NOT drama-queened himself away. He merely asked to have his account deleted - for those of you who think I spilling BS here, then this IS JUST EXACTLY HOW GODZILLA/DUKE TOGO used to "DRAMA QUEENED" himself as well... only for Duke Togo, it was less dignified. I did not liked how WJ protects stuff that are not his, but if his "egotistical" action has detracted anyone's experience here, I'm sorry, you brought it upon yourself. He may not be willing to share much, but he's relaxing abit. He DID NOT f*uck-up anyone's experience here. I can't say the same for what Duke Togo did. Please do the right thing.
