I see no where in my posts I was bothering Graham or being disrespectful to him and I do realise his position in relation to Yamato. That would be me. I don't see the need for this comment where every problem that Yamato creates gets to stay and negative comments that I make, gotta go away. If I'm decidedly looked upon as a "hater" by members, it's okay. Hey, I'm making complains about Yamato's halfarseness - you can't expect me to be halfarse about it, no?
-
The problem is, it's there. Even you concede to the fact that the loose chestplate does have some play to it - you're not too bothered by it because aside from the valk in your hands, you're also buying into the need to rationalize to yourself EVERYTIME on why it's OKAY for a Yamato product to have these problems.
-
I don't swoosh them. Just like you, I transform and pose them. Knowing that you did everything by the book and it still jiggles, wobbles... and knowing that this could all be avoided by adding stopper nubs (like the 1/48's) pisses me off.
-
Heh, aren't you the smart one. Not shaking it doesn't take away the fact the chestplate is still jiggly loose and the click locking method is a failure. I bet that's how you pacify yourself with the loose chestplate on the 1/60 YF19 as well.
-
I did push the chestplate till it clicks lock. It still DOES jiggle when I shake it. Everything about the chestplate that was right on the 1/48 is wrong on the 1/60 VF0S.
-
The VF0 A&S chestplates jiggle, because there is nothing to hold it like what you get from the 1/48 VF1s - there's another arse backward engineering award there. The only thing that oughta jiggle are the chestplates on women.
-
BLOOD! Yeah Graham, some wise mofo once said it's better to burn out or something to that effect.
-
a)If you're strictly a MIB collector, get it. b)If you're a fighter mode lover, get it. c)If you're the type that has to transform it every now and then, buy another house. Just make sure that house you're getting isn't made by Yamato. VF0 Type A and S problems are well documented here:- http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=21068 In short Yamato has an impeccable record of faulty first releases, repetitive stupid mistakes for their future adaptations. If you are A & B of the above, get it. If not you're inevitably adding to the stupidity.

Thanks TLW, I will try to dig up the old files.

Hey man, sorry for catching this late. Thanks Sean, It's been damn cool of you to hold the drawings in your site for all these years. Looking back now, I have nothing but pleasant memories of the fanworks forum as well as everyone who got involved.
-
I used to have no doubt that Yamato's 1/48 VF1 is the undisputed "the King of kings". But in Yamato's case, it's just like you've just crowned a woman with the Ms World title for all the right reasons, and not a moment too soon, you discovered evidence that candidate is tainted with unsavoury deeds that would make a mockery of the TITLE, the organization and the people that bestows it. And I do stand by my choice of words. No one who claim to be serious about their work could bear fvcking-up their FEATURE PRESENTATION that much. Yamato are nothing but a bunch of zero aptitude jokers.
-
Is that so? You get that big idea about me being one-sided just because I like the Gunbuster from Bandai? I have listed examples as well as their flaws. Most of my fine examples offered their end of their promise. In the grand scheme of things, I'm talking about the APTITUDE of these toymakers, or the lack of it on Yamato's part. While every other toymakers are working hard to deliver their promise, Yamato are the ONLY ones who are getting away with murder. Ya know, I wouldn't mind so much if they were gashapons or candy toys or getting a mountain-of-a-deal with little-molehill-sum of money. But that would be not so black and white on my part already, no? It's sad that as you argue and reason for them, Yamato from upper management to rank and file are cock-sucking each over another con-job well executed each time. Let me point them out again shall we? - the poorly made and fragile 1/72s, the minor QC unpredictability of the 1/48s, the sure to break plastics on the 1/60s. While you are ready to part with your hard-earned cash, Yamato are laughing at your desperation for Macross toys. Yamato's tuition fees = your money. You're all paying your respects to the Macross franchise for ZERO APTITUDE. I have tried my best to be impartial. In fact, I have liked ALL the toys enough first, before I purchased them in the first place or I wouldn't have bothered. What I don't expect or lay money down, are for toys that are piss-poor made and prone to breakage. The ZERO APTITUDE to lousy build quality, piss poor finishing and toy breakage by Yamato is UNPRECEDENTED. Don't tell me you and your money were comatosed like kensei as well? Because you're starting to look like you were.

I don't expect you to follow my every rant, but I have never doubted the beauty of the 1/60 YF19. All Yamato's sculpts have been divinely beautiful. Now, this is where it is connected to issues related to Yamato that got me unhinged. I made the "other toys" examples is because I am trying to draw comparison on BUILD QUALITY and FINISHING from readily available references - it is not that I'm speaking as though you ("Macross-Yamato-Only-Collectors") live in a cave and have absolutely NOTHING else in your toy collection. Even if you have no other toys, just look at good ANYTHING out there that's well-made. I'm not saying that I have very good taste, at least I like to think what I have is better than having no taste for quality like Yamato. I express my disappointment to you guys because MW is largely an American Macross fansite. If there is anything about the American culture on Material Things that I can relate to is your reverance for well-made creations that is brimming with BUILD QUALITY and GOOD FINISHING. Settling for half-arsed made VFs is where you people confused me - YAMATO FVCKS YOUR REVERANCE FOR BUILD QUALITY and GOOD FINISHING IN THE ARSE! The fact that we're all sitting on a conundrum, confused ourselves with the general disdain for crap quality toys to our love for the Macross franchise, still spending sh1tloads of money on it, is why we're all WEAK and SLOW MINDED. I think you need assess how you really feel about your 1/60 YF19, because you were at first hoping for better QC, bothered by the QC and what not, then you said fans are generally quite happy with the current '19 - that's quite a contradiction there. In the mean time, have a good weekend all. Sorry to have wasted your time.
-
Neither did I farted the comparison in your general direction. It's been known that the 1/72 '19 is weak in the gerwalk dept. All I care about is the battriod mode. Look here:- 1/72 YF19 unmodded. Drifand may take good photos, but that's a stock '19. The 1/60's '19 improvements over the 1/72 is nothing to shout about, if anything, Yamato should be ashamed that their 1/60's '19 is being compared to its LESSER incarnation, instead of other better toys. It can't even hold its own. Thanks for telling the difference Icenine. And thank you Graham for the title. It's time for my medication.

What the hell?! Enjoy the subpar toy all you want. It's not as though I flew over to where you all are, and clubbed you unconcious to stop you from enjoying your toy. wolfx, stop telling people what I do. Grr!
-
You should try the 2nd edition 1/72 YF19. Except for lineart accuracy and size, Yamato overlooked nothing. The only thing better the 1/60 YF19 has over the 1/72 version is close-to-anime / lineart accuracy. Everything else about the current '19 is a big embarassment.
-
Since the release of 1/60 YF19 last year, quite a number of us have complained about it to hell. And you know what, next thing I've noticed is that Yamato is giving "better" hinges and connectors for their upcoming 1/60 SV-51 this year. Whether they are metal or not, sturdy or not, I will see. I'm not saying that the customer complaints in MW has anything to do with it, nor do I even expect fans like Graham to have clout over the potato heads that run Yamato, I'm just betting the amount of returns on the '19s and the Garlands to Yamato in Japan alone compelled the idiots into action. In the end, there are many ways to get to these people. Writing letters, not buying in the future, returning crap - are some of them. To me, b1tching in a place where most Macross fans congregate, where good or bad news spread faster is the far better solution - at least I'm doing something. We're both obviously bent over for Yamato in the QC department... yada ...yada. The only difference is, you probably like to take it quietly and not hear it from others as well. "Don't buy" "Get something else" "They're apples and oranges" "So then stick to Bandai and SOC Gunbuster products" I get people like you telling me off that way all the time. Can't you do better, or have buying subpar Yamato products slowed your minds?
-
Cutting back on purchases with one individual or community to motivate improvement, isn't enough anymore. Neither is a CONSTANT negative/ B1TCHING reminders. I've run out of ideas. Look at it this way... If it takes so little screw-ups for collectors like me to cry foul, your tolerance for crap must be high. And there are waaaaay more collectors like you than there are like me. And... Yamato is operating without checks and balances. That's where collectors like me come in.
-
Yes!!! Graham or some brave members - please buy one and tell him!!!
-
Suit yourself. What's lame is the fact that the damn things are not made and bundled together in the first place. If Bandai gives us a SOC Gunbuster alone then sells it's other accessories, stand and gantry towers months later for the price of a bomb, they'll get hell. But sh!t like this works for Yamato and they HAVEN'T even corrected their feature presentation yet - because collectors like you are TOO FORGIVING. The '19's manual and the transformation required by that part was straightforward. It's THE FITTING, THE LOUSY MATERIAL that hold the parts together don't allow it to move in the direction that it was intended. I didn't assume the damages on the plastic hinges and stressmarks on the nose, last time I checked, you weren't asleep in the forums either - when transformation for the other members' 1/60 yf19 went to hell. Or were you?
-
At 1:1 scale, the way Kawamori and the anime intended it to be, and what's listed in the compendium, THAT'S the Fold Booster. At 1:60 scale by yamato, it's a dildo that THINKS it's a fold booster. Like it or not, intended for comedy or not, the name will stick. Btw, regarding the neck transformation, it's the FIRST TIME dislodging/separating the neck from the torso is what makes it such a b!tch to transform the '19. After that it's not so bad provided your '19 survived without stressed broken hinge and a stressmark on the tan plastic. Some have even used a hair dryer to soften that part before transforming. But do show your technique, If your method can prevent the first time transformation woe, there MIGHT still be hope for mine. TIA!
-
No it isn't. Churning out hate is as easy as Yamato fvcking up and it don't cost as much. It's being called for what it is. I wasn't even trying to be funny. [attachmentid=42515]

Ya know, I like a good display as much as the next Macross fan, but I'm trying to stay focused here - The '19 is still not fixed, and everyone is celebrating that just because the foldildo does seem as though it's gonna be damn nice, all is good with Yamato. If display is the only thing you're after, good for you. If they don't fix the '19, bad for me. And the foldildo is still table scrap next to the '19 - not worthy of all your song and praises as of now.
-
Better now, thanks. Graham, will they include those fixes in the '19 / foldildo bundle? I dunno, the answer they gave you is just as halfarsed as the way they rolled out the first batch of the 1/60 '19s. Maybe you should bring a bat to Yamato next time.
-
Any word on whether the upcoming YF19 will include fixes? That is where the REAL meat is. The fold booster is only table scrap. It's disappointing to find so many discerning Macross fans going ga-ga simply over something plastic with flashing lights. Cavemen with a torch could make a meal. What does the foldildo make you?
