  1. Maybe they should do what Toynami does... Put all their heart 'n soul into the bookcase-type package, then just throw the the toy in there without any quality control whatsoever. Oh yeah, forgot... they can have a toy part light; or they can just make the box light up.
  2. I sure hope it's not some kind of price adjustment. But after the flat-assed kubric 'n McFarlane mech fiasco, you'll never know.
  3. What does OVA stand for? I suck.
  4. So what is Macross Zero, then? A new series that nobody gives a crap about since it's practically "The New Battle Star Gallactica"? I'm torn.
  5. man, this is shocking news. Thanks for the info. Yes, Macross is my Star Wars, that's for sure.
  6. Like i said above, I don't know the politcs well. My bad; and now I feel stupid :/ But I didn't mean "Yamato" opening a food chain where you get a burger, onion rings and a 1/600 VF; I simply meant that maybe they need a serious 3rd party distributor or something. A local distribution company can do advertising for them.... kinda like what Ikea does with all that furniture that comes from God-knows-where. But all of this is because of HG, right?
  7. That's insane. Isn't Macross "Star Wars"-like over there? Or is "Gundamn" the in-thing? (and yes, I'm aware that Gundamn has been around for awhile)...
  8. Wow. Macross toys aren't popular in Japan? That's funny. So a big chunk of Yamato's business has to be America then... So much for all that "their target audience is in Japan, so don't think you're doing them a favor by buying their toys" bullshit. I mean, if it is their target, then Yamato needs a better marketing strategy. If they did what Toynami does, then they'd have the market and they'd be making more volumes and more money; AND the prices would drop. However, I don't read those toy magazines on a reg. basis, so I don't know what kind of import advertising Yamato does. But I have seen lots of Toynami ads here and there.... But then again... I'm not 100% on my Harmony Gold/Robotech/Macross politics, either. I just know it's all a fiasco....

DrClay.... very well said, man!!! But hell, we got too many people in MW that are just throwing their money at Yamato whenever they release something new; so, it'll do no good. NOT TO SAY - and I STRESS - NOT TO SAY that these people are doing a bad or stupid thing by making that choice -- I just think that it's a "getting caught up in the mania" type of thing. Hell, if you have no prob spending money like this, then more power to you. If not, well, then we don't get the damn toy. That's what seperates the "collector" from the "hardcore collector"... I just bought a 1/48 and it's armour - and it all comes out to about $200, right?; anyways, the last person who saw it (non-macross fan), looked at me like I was a ghost when I told him how much it cost. And that's ONE I own. Other guys in here have enough 1/48's to make a snow-man with. Some collectors are addicts. They will spend, no matter what the cost. I'm actually shocked at the poll. Even though most voted "too expensive", those same people are gonna go out and buy one (or two). With that said... Does Yamato have the collectors by the balls? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No, because they like being grabbed by the balls. Yo, fifbeat, you can't tell me that!!!! I buy them because I WANT THEM! Not exactly true. You want them because you NEED THEM. It's in your blood just like dope to a fiend. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Yes, I talk to myself. Ever since FIGHT CLUB, I've been feeling cool about doing it.
  10. s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d... If your house was burning down, and you can only take ONE Macross toy with you; which one would it be? BTW, you have too much money.
  11. My guess is because a Japanese Toys R Us has a more mature mix (adults and kids); while America's Toys R Us is strictly for the kiddies. Hell, some McDonald joints in other parts of the world serve beer. "Would you like to super-size that Bud?" As far as those HG asses, they're now selling Macross-tagged products. Go figure.
  12. I hear ya... My bad... but what do I know? ... I'm still the dumb new guy that everyone dislikes because he's a bad-ass mo' fo' with that "flat-ass lego 'n plastic McFarlane toy" disin'... hehe I guess I was just reading your comments wrong... I'm just pissed because my damn Love Pscyhedelico III album hasn't arrived yet.
  13. Abombz!!, I gotta give you this one; that pretty much sums it up. Truly sophisti-funk! And I know this has nothing to do with your argument, but I have to mention it because you felt shocked that there were many late-20s-people that ARE still fans (yikes, nice run on)... Just don't underestimate how many MACROSS fans stayed MACROSS fans until this day. You're not giving it enough credit. That movie/series sticks with you like your first girlfriend! It's forever my fiancée!
  14. This topic is getting out of hand... I'm going to close it soon.
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying it takes a "collector" to know the true value of a Macross toy? So, if we're kids, we're just being immature because we think a $100 toy is expensive? I think the you should give the "kids" a little more credit, buddy. Or maybe I'm reading your post wrong. I'm in my 20's, I have several mechs, but I'm not a "collector" (frankly, I'd like to be, but I don't have the money or the time to be a hardcore Macross collector); however, I sure as hell know what's worth what and what isn't -- but then again, it IS a matter of opinion. But crap... some things are just apparant. Dare I say it?
  16. I don't think the 1/55's (old or new Takatoku/Bandai) get enough credit. Sure, they used old molds, but those things are built like a million bucks. Bandai could have gone cheap on us -- instead they put a little more effort in them (paint, where stickers used to be). And those boxes look pretty sweet (not that they matter)... As far as looks, they look very stiff and "toy"-like. But if you transform one of those things, even compared to the top-of-the-line 1/48, they are engineered sharp as hell. I love listening to those solid clicks! I pray that one day Bandai will re-design them, and make them look more anime-like (like the Yamato's)... if they keep the same mechanism and upgrade the designs, I think they can dominate the Macross toy market. Now Toynami's 1/55's.... I can build something more sturdy using chicken bones. Those things ain't worth the boxes they come in.
  17. That's some good work. You're a genius.
  18. Man, these Yammies are just squeezin' the dough out of us. I hate to 'bitch' about it again, but this is what I'm talkin' about. At $120, the Q-RAU should come with a "better" figure to begin with. tsk tsk tsk.... I guess if the figure cost $20, it shouldn't be a big deal. But, I doubt it.

Ordered mine yesterday. *cough* (j/k) I'm sure you guys know what I voted for.
  20. Abombz - Guilty mind? Watcha talkin 'bout Willis??? Hell, I practically said "maybe you're right". READ WHAT I SAID! Dude, I wasn't directing any of that to you. Just the FIRST LINE of that last reply, was for you. Why the heck are you taking it as an attack?? And no, I don't consider myself special for buying spending nearly grand on toys; and I'm sure that's pocket change compared to what others have spent -- nor do I think I should be treated good just for that fact. You read it wrong. I only mentioned because I wanted to remind everyone that I'm a buyer and have spent money just like everyone else. That gives me the right question a product... I'm just not some guy sitting around, being cheap, and buying nothing... get my drift? You're reading my post totally wrong, man. Yes, I brought up my unhappiness about the toy's price, but ONLY (and I stress that) because I was replying to somebody's attitude towards ME, not the toy. Re-read the thread if you don't believe me. Not one time did I bring it up again for the hell of it. I only brought it up because the opposer brought it up first. Simple as that. And before any of you guys judge on what's happened on the subject, please re-read the thread. Just don't start blaming me. I haven't been "crying" as much as people make it out to be. Like I said, sensitive. Add touchy to that.

    Joon's Valkyries

A paper plate is better than a MPC. I pretty much leave mine in it's box, that's the only way I can get the thing to stand. Toynami should have spent more time on designing/perfecting the thing, than wasting time shoving a flashlight up it's head.
  22. Abombz.... Maybe you're right. Let's face it, the anti-Q-Rau are the "bad" ones here. There were about a handful, maybe more, that were against buying the toy; but the ones that disagreed with us were the ones that got harsh or angry about it first. We just got noticed more because we were going against the wind. So I repeated myself a few times. What am I supposed to do when the subject comes up again and again? Just be quiet about it? You have to realize that I just don't sit here and bitch about every single toy released. I'm a buyer, too. I've spent nearly a grand on Macross products in the last couple of months -- mostly from a respectable "partner" of this site named valkyrie-exchange.com -- yet I'm the bitch of the bunch when I make a few sensitive guys unhappy with few remarks, crying about how I posted the same stuff more than once. Please, give me a break... Owners, admins, mods... I just want a little fairness when it comes to discussion, that's all. The bottom line is: The fingers are pointed at the complainers that don't make this forum a smooth ride when a new product comes out that is questionable in price, etc. I'm not buying the Q-Rau for whatever reason. I'm the bad guy. I see how it is.
  23. I just recently got back into this Macross Toy thing. So, in the last month or so, I've spent: 3 Bandai 1/55's: $170 1 Yamato 1/60: $60 1 Yamato 1/48 w/armour: $200 1 Toynami 1/55 w/armour: $120 Macross DVDs: $60 All from valkyrie-exchange.com So, in the last month, about $600 total. *sigh*... I plan on buying a couple of more 1/48's and an Alpha (MPC)... then, hopefull I'll call it quits. Who knows?
  24. That's all you have to say, eh? If you have no "real" response, other than your "one line" smart-ass attitude, then why did you even bother posting? I've only been posting here for a few weeks... time must fly for you, dude. As for your "not posting" as much anymore, nobody is begging you to come back. Were these carved in stone? Did they jump from a burning bush? What are you, a teacher? A priest? some washed-out wiseman?
  25. I just love how this forum got moved. Are you mods getting paid for this? Do you guys put your suit and tie on, everytime you log on? Just a day's work, eh?
