  1. BTW, what's the deal with the gummy and first generation mini figures? I wasn't aware of this. What's the difference? Is it just that one is soft and the other isn't? (great... waiting for an admin to direct me to another topic. lol... )
  2. Not sure if you're kidding or not; but dude, that can be a HUGE business for you. Just from this forum alone. I personally don't see what the big deal is about that weathering special. It doesn't look like a "custom"... it looks artificially done. Lke someone said, it's too dark. Did people go crazy about the "angel" 1/48 as well? I'm beginning to think if they released a pink and orange valkyrie, people would kill to get one. Matter if fact, if Yamato drops one on the floor, throws it in a box and calls it "crash landing special" it would be a hot item. As for me, I like mine clean OR customized by a pro (which is not me). =)
  3. Man, I remember the "Pony Toy-Go-Round" store. I was on their mailing list back in the late/early 90s. I remember getting a flyer for the original Bandai re-issue (which was only like $55!!!!!!) and I never got enough money to get it. a couple years later, I did some bad things like steal my mom's credit card and order some low budget Patlabor toys... i was a bad child. :/ (when I was doing this, the Bandai poo was out of print) I could have swore the Southern Cross figures I saw were toys and not models. I remember the box: a figure with just the clothes; and all the armor was on the right side (a la just like any other jap toy w/armor).
  4. They had toys for Southern Cross. I remember my parents taking me to Chinatown (Los Angeles, circa '86-'87). My dad gave me like $10 for getting good grades. We walked into some shop that carried a lot of toy imports from Japan. I ended up getting the macross Mac II Destroid... anyways, I remember seeing figures for the characters in Southern Cross... you know, their armored clothing and such... they were about 8-10" tall from what I can remember.... and no, they weren't Matchbox products... Since I never see these babies on ebay, I imagine they are more rare than Jesus. As for the "I hate robotech" fiasco.... Macross fanatics are acting like it's the worst thing ever. There's nothing wrong with it, other than a few cuts here and there that don't effect the flow in any way. There have been numerous import movies/shows that have been butchered for American audiences and a lot of them have gotten really bad treatment. Robotech wasn't one of them. Robotech has a good dub job, great music and if anything, a lot of us wouldn't even know Macross existed (and Mospeada would be totally unknown to us).
  5. Yet another low budget copycat, this time by sega. Just look at those screen shots on the game box and you'll know what I'm talking about.
  6. Here's some more low budget wannabe valkyrie stuff: Anyone remember this computer game? When I played it back in 1987 (on my low budget MS DOS PC w/amber monitor) it always reminded me of the VF: It transformed and everything... same exact mechanics as a valk... just look at the picture: From wiki: Thexder (テグザー Teguzar) is a classic action-arcade game from Game Arts. The player is a fighter robot, but is able to transform into a jet. Originally released in 1985 for the NEC PC-8801 platform in Japan, the game quickly became a huge hit selling over 500,000 copies. Later that same year, Game Arts licensed Thexder to Square in order to develop a conversion for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game console. In 1987, Game Arts also developed a Thexder conversion for the MSX platform. The NEC PC8801 and MSX platforms were only popular in Japan and Thexder garnered little attention abroad. That all changed, however, when Sierra Entertainment licensed Thexder for release in the United States. In 1987, Sierra ported the game to multiple platforms including the IBM PC, Commodore Amiga, Apple II, Apple IIGS, Apple Macintosh, and Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer (CoCo3). Thexder continued its track record of success and became a best-seller for Sierra. The two Game Arts developers responsible for creating Thexder were Hibiki Godai and Satoshi Uesaka. In 1986, they developed another action-arcade game called Silpheed and in 1989 they wrote a Thexder sequel named Fire Hawk: Thexder The Second Contact. As with the original, FireHawk sold extremely well in Japan and the United States. Today, Thexder is still remembered by many as a classic action-arcade game.
  7. Me too. So, the latest Robotech Remastered collection is all in tact? (obviously, with the exception of the music, japanese dialogue)
  8. Yeah, valks are like a bag of chips.... YOU CAN'T HAVE JUST ONE. =)
  9. Wow. I thought for sure I'd get crucified for talking crap about the Angel Valkyrie.... =)
  10. Man, none of these valks (with the exception of Zero) from the other Macross projects do it for me. They look like insects or something. The realism and grit that we loved with the old-school VF's are nowhere to be found... Anyways... Was there ever a toy for the VF in Macross II? I know the movie sucked, but that valk looked pretty sweet.
  11. Have you guys saw the links of the 23 year old cutie from Sweden singing Minmay song?
  12. Robotech: Shadow Chronicles is pretty forgettable if you ask me. I believe it was mostly Koreans doing the art/animation (they were on a low budget, so they couldn't afford Japanese dudes)... Anyways, I'm gonna watch the entire Robotech series; then purchase the Japanese version. It better be good or I'm gonna have a boxing match with you all!!!! =) I'm gonna miss the Robotech soundtrack tho... IS the music in the Macross the same as Macross (movie)? And which version of the Japanese Macross do I get? I see one that has both the new english dub and the Japanese audio, then another one, then another (the black box expensive one)! Which one is remastered the best?
  13. Thanks for the answers guys. I have yet to see the Japanese version of the Macross TV series. Judging from what's said here, I'm looking forward to it. One thing I can tell you about Robotech is: The music is great. It's placed in great places. Heck, even some of the minmay U.S. songs are nice (To Be In Love).... I grew up on it. But the REAL re-mastered version lies in the Japanese versions, right? Again, thanks to all who answered. VFTF1, especially. =) Great stuff. I agree with some of that I'm buying the Legacy collection locally (for $35). Unless someone can beat that (with shipping, the hassle of sending, etc... I doubt it). I like the Legacy's artwork. And I like the fact they kept it in tact as it was aired on TV.
  14. Which DVD box set do you think is the best? (between the Protoculture Collection and the first released Legacy Collection (complete set)? And for what reasons? Bonus Question: For those who have seen the original Macross TV series, which do you prefer? Robotech or the Macross TV series version? Same question goes for Robotech: New Generation vs. Mospeada... Thank in advance advance for your comments. Looking forward to reading them.
  15. PART II: I'm accepting pre-orders for this toy. Please place orders by Mid-July. Your credit card won't be billed until a week before it's released. (www.Philipino-Balkrie-Shop.com) Guys, I'm letting this go. I don't want to do it! But I'm so strapped for cash. The condition is great! Still in package, no yellowing, parachute still in tact. $99 shipped. ** Willing to trade for the "Masterpiece Collection Shadow Chronicles Movie Bookends." The above toy was made from Takatoku tooling, presumably by one of TT's manufacturing subcontractors to settle on debt TT left behind. So they're not actually bootlegs, just 'repurposed' product. Look buddy. If you're gonna do the job, do it right. I don't remember Rick Hunter wearing Vans®. And those low budget pants are too baggy. Decent job on the helmet tho... But, lose the gun because it looks like your about to change printer toner. Matter in fact, lose everything and go home. I never liked the red or blue valkyries. Yeah, yeah, cool characters piloted them. Big deal. Anyways, what I really dislike, is the Yamato Angel Valkyrie. Was that thing even in the Macross DYRL? IT's the worse variation ever released by Yamato. Please, PLEASE, all you guys who own this, please tell me you got it just to make your Yamato collection more complete. It looks fruity. I don't get it. But there are worse things... This Toynami valk (any of their MPC Valks for the matter) is low budget -- not that it's any surprise to anyone. The folks at Toynami were so used to producing Morphers all day long that they lost all sense of proportion, design and respect towards any living male who thought Valkyries were badass. Look how ugly that thing is. That, that thing.... that's not a valkyrie. Actually, I take it back, I'd rather have this sitting on my shelf than a Yamato Angel valk. Anyone who sees it will still think it's cool. If anyone sees the Angel, they'll be wondering why they used that color "softy" scheme/design. All in fun. =)
  16. Well, the only thing I can do is apply this stuff on the valks, maybe once every three months.... we'll go from there. I'm in the Nevada desert.... the valk would melt before it turned yellow! =)
  17. Check your msg. I have a magical fix that doesn't allow you to pay that $20 limit. =)
  18. I'm gonna try it. You can send out for a sample of this (and their other products) for $5. One small sample bottle should cover like 10 valks. Got nothing to lose, with only "yellowing" to gain. http://www.303products.com/tech/index.cfm?...category_ID=113
  19. Mechinyun... how exactly did you apply it?
  20. I want to see it with Strike Armour!! =)
  21. Thanks guys. That blows.
  22. I don't like that weathered one they are about to release. Looks too artificial. I either like 1/48's clean or customized to the maximum quality: paint, etc. Here's my question: Do Yamatos yellow? If so how long? And has anyone found a solution too this?
  23. That's nothing. Wait til you see my collection. I guarantee to have the most low budget collection of Robot technology Defence Force goods.
  24. It all started with Robotech. Then I saw Jetfire at the store and I was like "uh.... that's Robotech"... my mom buys me it for my birthday day for like $35. I would run around the house with that thing (with my head directly in back of it, holding it to my face)... those were the days. That was my favorite toy. Never owned any of the official Japanese stuff. Never again I got anything Macross (unless Convertors and Matchbox action figures count)... Jump ahead 20 years (since the stuff either didn't exist, or I couldn't afford it).... I, too, picked up a 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru (with the low budget detachable legs)... I was in awe, then the 1/48's came out, and I fell in love. Now all I want are 1/48's and nothing else (at least in the macross category). Not sure If I'm doing the Chunky Monkey re-release thing. I bought a bunch of those from Valkyrie-Exchange.com a few years ago, ended up selling them all to some guy in Manila. BTW, my collection is pretty low budget. Just a few 1/48's, some stuff here and there and some Rick Hunter dolls which look like El Debarge. Nothing like the awesome collections the guys have in here. Mainly because it's expensive. I would post some some pictures, but my brother stole my digital camera and took it to the Philipines.
