  1. The story goes that, due to some tax loophole in Germany, film producers are able to write off their investments. So the film's budget is basically recovered automatically, and anything it makes is 100% profit. That part I can understand, since it's basically pure human greed. What confounds me is that not only are game companies selling their titles to him, but actors continue to line up to work with Boll. Do they not bother to even google his name before they sign on the dotted line? We can only hope that after the dismal failure of Alone in the Dark, distributors will be less inclined to release his garbage theatrically.
  2. http://www.starwars.com/community/event/co...12/indexp8.html Long story short, it looks like there will be a Studio Scale edition of the 32" Falcon, a Studio Scale Y-Wing, what looks like Boba Fett's ROTJ rifle, and a new line of costume replicas. Oy, my bank account aches already.
  3. After the state's inception, Israel received reworked Kar98k's from FN and Czechoslovakia, but these would have all been in the original 7.92x57. It is believed that all of the Israeli K98's in 7.62 were conversions, done some time in the mid 60's.
  4. This is truly distrubing. The cast for Dr. Boll's forthcoming epic just keeps growing and growing, brimming with B-list actors off all kinds. Now Ray Liotta has joined the cast?! The same Ray Liotta from Goodfella's? This doesn't quite match Oscar winner Ben Kingsley appearing in Bloodrayne, but still....wow. http://chud.com/news/3703
  5. Arrrggghhh!!! Wait....getting....unbearable!! There's what, only two months to go?
  6. After browsing some of the 'Merican surplus sites, I was sickend...sickened...to see that you guys have No. 1 and No. 4 Lee Enfield rifles for about $100. Some of them even Long Branch manufactured! I hate you guys!
  7. The CMP is your best bet for the first two. Last I checked, they had Garands and Springers for not-quite dirt cheap. But beware, a lot of dealers seem to have been obtaining rifles from the CMP, then giving them a quick cleanup and charging double what they would have paid. As for the K98, you have a couple of options. If you want an all matching, unrefinished Kar98k then be prepared to pay a premium for it. If you just want a good condition shooter, then you should look into the Russian and Yugoslavian "capture" rifles. My Kar98 was rebuilt by the Yugos after the war, and it is a tack driver. The only problem with these rifles from a collectors point of view is that they have been remarked. The Yugo gets a big crest stamped onto the receiver, where the Ruskie gets fugly electropencil numbering.
  8. http://evanidus.ath.cx:7420/torrents/%5BCe...%5D.avi.torrent You can thank us later.
  9. Thread Necromancy indeed.
  10. The next Gundam installment will be a "hillarious" romp through the SEED universe, called Gundam SEED: Double Destiny. aka, Gundam SEED DD (Double D). Some fans will shorten this to Gundam SEEDDD, while others will truncate it to a mere "DDD." THe show itself will feature an unprecedented 85 different Gundams, al of which will combine the names of the previous Gundams, such as "Strike Astray Freedom Rouge Gundam."
  11. No, you're not the only one. I liked it better the first time I saw it, when it was called the Nu Gundam. Let's face it, between the Zakus, Goufs and now the Doms (or is that Rik Dom?) Destiny has really, really REALLY run out of ideas for new and unique Mobile Suits.
  12. Whoa, whoa WHOA there, Kahotek! Whose booth were those in?!
  13. That Gentle Giant Yoda is just amazing. I saw it last night on the replica prop board and I still can't believe it. The old Illusive Concepts one had the right details, but it had the blank expression of a puppet with no puppeteer. This one looks like Yoda.
  14. Are you kidding?! I'd SO watch that, just for the novelty of it.
  15. The only ones I really cared for was the Classic Design Concepts and the Steeda, minus the racing spoiler of course. If they had swapped that thing for something similar to a last-gen Cobra R spoiler then it would be awesome. But the CDC shaker hood scoop is frikken incredible!
  16. IIRC, 12" is about what the old Halcyon kit came in at, which of course will be the same for the Dropship. How bad were the prices at the Con?
  17. Yep, weird isn't it? From "Mustang 5.0 & 4.6 1979-1998"
  18. I think that's a two-part answer. First up would be the near replacement of the Mustang with what came to be known as the Probe. When that didn't happen, Ford was content to let the 'Stang continue on in its then-current form. This would be the late 80's, when the 5.0 reached its apex. Development of the 5.0 engine basically stopped with the 1987 model year, or 1989 if you count the addition of Mass Air. Meanwhile GM had dropped their boat anchor 5L and switched to the 5.7. Although this gave them a jump in horsepower, the two cars were still fairly close in terms of torque and the Mustangs lower curb wieght kept things closer. The only real improvement in Stang performance in these days would have been the '93-95 Cobras, which used Ford Racing cylinder heads and intakes. The real problem began in 1996 when Ford switched the tried and true 5.0 for the dismal 4.6 SOHC. Torque dropped off and the GM cars left the GT Mustang in the dust. Even the early 4.6 DOHC Cobras were barely a match for them, and only just. IMO, the ideal soultion would have been to hold off introducing the SOHC 4.6 for another year or two, until it was ready to produce the power it did in its 260 hp 1999 incarnation. The 245 hp GT40 5L from the Cobra should have been the motor for the GT, while the Cobra could have kept its DOHC 4.6. It woun't have beaten the GM pony cars but it would have kept things a lot closer.
  19. Just thought I'd mention that the Saber Vault has the Rebel DH-18 blaster on sale for a paltry $280. http://www.thesabervault.com/MasterReplica...trooperANH.html
  20. Sure you can! that's how the original generation of Gundam fans would have watched it. Theoretically there's also 08th MS Team, 0080 War in the Pocket and 0083 Stardust Memory, but you can easily go straight into Zeta without seeing any of them.
  21. I'd hardly call the "Pony Package" rice. The graphics are pretty subtle compared to some of the stripe packages in the Mustang's history. The rims are just "plain old" Bullit rims, which IMO are some of the finest looking factory rims Ford has ever given its pony and look far more at home on the 05-06 than they ever did on the 99-04 models. So all that really leaves is the corral and driving lights. Considering that you can get driving or fog lights on just about everything these days, I don't see the big deal. Or perhaps, as Yellowlightman suggested, A7 just plain likes the Mustang. Hell, the way gas prices are going, my next car will have an engine with less than half the displacement of my 5.0! As much as I'd love a new GT, its just getting too expensive to drive these things.
  22. MmmmMMmm....Pam Anderson as a nun. Hey, wasn't that an episode of V.I.P?
  23. Somewhere, deep in the Outback, a man named Cyclone weeps.
  24. Bear in mind, these are the same people who told fans that "There would be no remastering of Robotech." And of course, we all know how well they kept that promise.
  25. Ah, there we go then!
