Bah, context is irrelevant. You typed it, therefore it becomes sig-worthy.

No sign of it here in town. I probably won't get to see it until it's in wide release, some time in January.

The ROTS Obi saber is indeed awesome. Post pics of it when you can. The only reason I'd rather have gotten the ANH version was because I liked the job MR did on weathering that version. Maybe not as nice as a one-off, hand crafted replica, but for a mass produced piece it was very well done.

Gibson Sticks Himself In His Apocalypto Trailer
bsu legato replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not to derail this thread (and its already bordering on "religion"), Passion of the Christ isn't really a story in any normal sense. Its basically a guy getting destroyed for 2 hours. If it had been about some dude named Jesus Gonzalez getting curb stomped in some Mexican bar, it wouldn't be worth the film its printed on. The difference being that TPoTC (not to be the Johnny Depp-centric PoTC) just happens to be about the cornerstone of a bunch of people's faith. But for non-believers like myself & Mr March, it really does little for us, aside from perhaps some technical appreciation. Never before has flogging been filmed so realistically! -
Gotta hand it to you, Melissa. Last of the 5.0s, a piece of history. Excellent choice.

Since its only 3:15 on Christmas Eve, the only presents I've gotten so far was some chocolates and a gift cert from the management at work, and my present to myself: a 6/44 dated, Fazakerly made Lee Enfield No.4 MkI.

Here's a pic I had on my hard drive showing replicas of all three OT Vader sabers. From top to bottom they are ROTJ, ESB, and ANH. The ESB saber is incorrect but it'll still show the differences between the three. And of course, Parts of Star Wars has all the intricacies noted on their site.
-
Oh yeah, I have to say "Boourns" to the Vader ROTJ saber. I realize that there's people out there who like this thing, and have to have all the Vader variants, but I've always thought that thing was ass. Then again, those are the same people who poopooed the ROTS saber (which is in fact a copy of the "Barbican" Vader saber, thought to have been used in ESB and/or ROTJ).

That's entirely the thing about Rebelscum. They're not interested in the props themselves (aside from maybe handling it once or twice when they get a new one). They only see them as yet another investment. I saw the same thing when MR released the Luke ROTJ saber in the EE line, and again with the second edition AT-AT. Just one more reason I'm glad I'm not friends with "collectors" like that anymore. I do think the CE line has a place in the MR lineup, despite their complaints. It's clearly billed as a different line than the LE series, made from cheaper material and without the "collectibility" of the numbered LE. If somebody has little money to spend, or wants a prop for costuming then the CE is obviously where its at. I also like how the CE line will keep certain items around on store shelves for years to come. I personally think it would be awesome if my cousin's 5 year old can, years from now, go down to the mall and pick up a Vader ESB saber. Without the CE line, his only option would be to get an LE off of eBay for god-knows-what price.
-
I think the CE line is good for people (like myself) who have missed out on earlier props and/or couldn't afford them all, but it must really piss off those who did buy the earlier LE versions. Now I'm not sure if I should go ahead and get the Obi ROTS saber or wait and see if they do an ANH version for the CE line. Oh, and I was just at sabervault.com and there's some really good sales on several items. Spend that Christmas cash before you even get it!

Fixed.

Just what I would expect to hear from the Taco Apologists. Everybody with a frontal lobe clearly recognizes that Pita Wraps are so indescribably superior to your tired old "tacos" that I can prove my point (and the remainder of this post) through interpretive dance. *lame dance*

Sousei no Aquarion.
bsu legato replied to Retracting Head Ter Ter's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Christmas just came early! This should put us pretty close to the end of the story. Does Aquarion run for 26 episodes, or more? -
I gotta say, it never ceases to amaze me how certain types crawl out of the woodwork to comment on A1 after he's suspended. Especially people with a mere 93 posts.

an-al-o-gy, think hard 352996[/snapback] What he meant to say was that he only liked Ben & Jerry's Choco Choco Fudge, and anybody who doesn't should die a thousand screaming deaths.

Did I not link you to the 1/4 scale AT-AT? I'm sorry, here you go: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...DME:B:WNA:DE:12 -
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam A New Translation
bsu legato replied to F360°'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm impressed. It was a little rushed in some places, but they did a very good job of condensing so many episodes into 90 minutes. At first the new animation is most a bandaid to smooth over edits to the old animation where several episodes get smooshed together. But by the time they leave Jaburo its basically all new footage, and damn does it look great. I can't wait to see part 2. -
No, Protoculture is taken as a suppository, just as Carl Macek intended.

Would YOU vote for this man? He has the power to save Macross World...or destroy it.

Hey! You made me snort coke all over my keyboard.

HERE is a link that works. That's some damn impressive Lego. oh, and ROTFLOMGWTFBBQ did you see how small that dude's hands were? Nope, it appears you can't link to the auction directly. Just search for "Lego Cruiser" and it pops right up. -
No way man....the motorcycle has an internal combustion engine. Hows it going to run in a vacuum?
-
No...hang gliders and bicycles in space would be even greater.

In hindsight, I feel that this thread should have ended at page 2. I mean, the first page was awesome, but once it got to page two it really runs out of steam. The AgentONE/Keith banter is decidedly old school, but we've been there, done that.
