Then there's this gem, a bootleg of a bootleg called "Tiny Cyclone" written in AOL speak. Is this crap supposed to be funny?
-
The worst thing about Robotech fans is...well, that they're Robotech fans. But a close second is how amazingly not funny they are. For example, here is a ripoff of fan favorite Little Valk. Aside from its atrocious artwork, the humor is sub-juvenile.
-
I don't know if Lil Valk will ever make a comeback, but I did find this spectacularly un-funny ripoff on a Robotech forum, called "Small Veritech."

From the man himself: Now is it just me, or is a three year "suspension" just silly? If somebody is that serious about getting rid of a member they see as a trouble maker, why not just ban them altogether? I don't know what Agent ONE did this last time he was suspended, but I do understand that he rubs some people the wrong way. But if any mod or admin seriously belives that any member of any forum would wait around for three years to resume posting, they're delusional. If you want the Agent man banned, then for god's sake be a man and ban him for real, because the notion of a "three year suspension" is a joke. Or can we look forward to the return of BoK and MGREXX in a few years time as well? And if this is instead some sort of error, then I'll leave it for you in power to work out amongst yourselves.

It bothered me about as much as the fact that there was sound in space.

I guess its an age thing. Those of us who saw them in the theaters, who grew up knowing them one way, want to be able to see them that way again. For us, the SE films detract from the experience, not add to it. 398027 I beg to differ. The only one I didn't see in the theaters was ANH. I still prefer the new DVD versions. 398225 As much as people like to scream bloody murder today, the revised ANH Death Star battle was damn cool to see in the theater, back in '97.

Ok, I can understand History Channel trying to cash in on the whole Da Vinci code craze, but I've already heard wayyyy to much pseudohistory being bandied about as "fact" lately that I can't contain it. I'm not some Catholic raging against some perceived heresy, just a who's read a book or two that weren't movie tie-ins. For those who haven't been following along, or who just believe anything that the media bukakes onto you, here's a quick primer: 1) Priory of Sion - BUNK! There is no, nor has there ever been, a secret society known as the "Priory of Sion." What did exist was a couple of Frenchmen who created a fake secret society as a hoax, back int he mid 1950's. Unfortunately, they were't exposed until after the publication of Holy Blood, Holy Grail and even though they freely admit it today the media still dredges the name of the Priory up as part of the whole Da Vinci code hype extravanganza. It's just reason #8563 why you shouldn't trust the french. 2) The Holy Grail as Jesus' bloodline Few pieces of folklore are as misunderstood as the so-called Holy Grail. The long and the short of it is that the grail has no place in fact, and was itself a late addition to Arthurian legend. It was a bastardization of earlier Celtic folklore and pagan rituals, run through a Jesus-filter to fit into a morality tale. There is no mention of it in early Christian tradition. Period. 3) Knights Templar were killed to destroy the secret they guarded Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact that they were so very rich that they rivaled the Roman Church itself. They aren't credited for being the first "multinational bank" for nothing. As for their supposed secret (the sangeraal codex) see above. 4) But Dan Brown says that his book has some basis in fact Like the fact that much of his research has been debunked, as much as 25 years earlier (see The Priory, above)? Look, he's selling his book. Buy the book and enjoy it if you wish, but don't go believing everything you read. By the way, Michael Crighton used the same technique of including fictional appendicies to his early books to help sell the "reality" of the story. More as I get angrier....

The llama is a river-dwelling creature, and has a beak, with which it eats honey.

Nope, but the pics do look good. I'm still hoping I can scrape together the cash to buy one of the last Obi Wan sabers, before they go out of production, but its not looking good. If that doesn't happen, I'll probably buy the replica parts to make an ANH version.

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
bsu legato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Oh, you mean like Nazi Germany did? And not surprisingly, it worked out just as well for them as it did for Zeon. -
Man, I wish I could "underperform" and make $48 million dollars. This is just more Hollywood spin about declining box office, I'm sure.

At least he wasn't squinting in the wind. That would have been a real deal breaker.

It may indeed be a case of Engrish and/or Studio Proteus manhandling the names, but let's face it...."Rally" is also an equally strange name for a female bounty hunter. And Riding Bean was the shiznit, back in the day. I remember seeing a fansub of this wayyy back in about 1990 or so and I loved it ever since.

What are you talking about? This entire thread is one giant punchline. -
Most Ridiculous Amount Of Money You Have Spent
bsu legato replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Without a doubt, the $470 I spent on getting the Animeigo Macross set into Canada. Luckily, SDF Macross is one of the only shows I would spend that kind of money on. -
Exactly. I play games to PLAY GAMES not sit on my ass and watch pointless cutscene after cutscene filled with unintelligible gobbledegook and sideways tech speak. MGS2 was fun right up until I heard the word "leelaalooolaaleeloooluuuh" or whatever the hell that was... after that I completely lost interest in the game. Well, that and the 20 some minute cutscenes between 5 minute gameplay spots got really freaking old. I can only imagine the total monologuing horror that would be a Metal Gear movie. Every character would have a 10 minute speach followed by two minutes of action with another ten minute speach afterwords. It would be like Dragonball, just slightly less/more stupid, depending on if you like Dragonball or not. 396876 Silly Americans. You do not yet understand the danger of Metal Gear and/or nuclear proliferation, so Kojima has taken it upon himself to lecture you about them! Now...I was going to type more, but I just realized that I need something back at the office so I have to backtrack there to get it. I should be back in a few hours.

I don't think you appreciate the gravity of this development. The shade of blue used on Supes' tights was bad enough, but this..."Squintgate" could very well be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Singer has nothing but contempt for everybody else on the planet!!! He eats babies! And, I hear, he has a dragon.

What were you expecting? 396865 Evidently the release of the non-SE Trilogy pales in comparison to the outrage of Superman squinting in the wind!!!
-
I have to apologize to MW. All the "awesomeness" I had predicted is actually transpiring in the Superman thread. Sorry 'bout that. And as for the OT, I'm so cool I'm waiting for HHD, X-ray discs, which should be on the market some time in 2037, just in time for the 60th anniversary rererererelease of A New Hope.

Wow. Just....wow.

No way, man! Michael's turned. The Others are using him to trap the Losties, and Michael probably believes they'll give him Walt back if he does. Never trust a man with a beard like that.

Noes! My overuse of net-acronyms is what makes the thread title so special! WTF OMG BBQ QFT

Shiny new content on the Hanso Foundation website!!

My spider sense tells me that this thread will go from zero to awesome in the next few posts. Let's watch....
