I'm kind of burnt out on FPS these days. Ep 1 does look interesting but I'm in no real rush to play it. If it gets some awe-inspiring reviews I may look into it, but to be honest I wasn't too thrilled with HL2's keeps-you-on-the-rails approach, especially after the free roaming gameplay of Far Cry.

bsu legato replied to Mechleader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
HLJ has a listing w/pictures of the new Empire version of Slave 1. Fine Molds is indeed revamping the kit to be accurate to the ESB filming model. AND if you order soon enough, you'll get the limited diecast Han Solo in carbonite. http://www.hlj.com/product/FNMSW-07 -
X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed

If I prove that it's not a mistake, do I win a No-Prize? -
FWIW, the Mo-Cap in Appleseed was light years ahead of Spirits Within. I think this was helped by going the "anime" route for the face, rather than trying the never-convincing-enough "realism" method.

There may still be hope for Votoms Vol. 4!! So its not so much a bankruptcy, as it is a severe belt-tightening.

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
bsu legato replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The fact that a film is Sci Fi is no excuse for poor shot-to-shot continuity. That's just shoddy workmanship. -
This is like some sick cosmic joke. Four measly DVDs...just four of them....and CPM goes under half-way through the series. If we're really lucky, volume 3 has been pressed and is in a warehouse waiting to be shipped to stores. Even then, we're only 3/4 of the way through. Oh well, maybe in another 10 years somebody will try marketing Votoms again.

http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/2006/05/1...,53522,0,0.html Not bad, I guess. It does remind me of Shirow's cover paintings for the manga, in a way. At least it's not drawn by Adam Warren.

IIRC, the "Deckard reloads" scene was only included in one of the early sneak previews, which as any BR historian should know contained many differences from the final cut. Then again, the weapons in the final film may not have even been intended firearms in the first place. Future Noir has a quote from Scott on this: It's believed that the scene where Leon blows Holden through the wall has an early, aborted attempt at animating this effect.

The one in primer grey looks like the Monsters in Motion kit.

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed

Ehh...it was "alright" at best. While there was little in the movie that I found jaw-droppingly stupid, it definitely felt extremely rushed which made most of story lose whatever weight it might have otherwise had. Just when something important would happen, whoooosh off to the next plot or subplot development. It's like a kid who spent Saturday afternoon reading X-Men comics, and then gave you his overenthusiastic rundown of what he'd read. "Omgomg, k fist theres jean grey as a kid and shes really strong and then theres a kid who tries to cut off his wings and then the danger room with a sentinel but wolverine cuts off its head and cyclops rides away to find jean and she takes his glasses off so wolvie and storm fly out there and find her and prof x says shes dangerous but magneto frees mystique but she gets turned into a human and then...." I'd give it a overly generous 2.5 out of 5, and that's mainly on the strength of Hugh Jackman. Hopefully his spinoff movie will be in more capable hands. -
...and in the context of the movie, makes no sense whatsoever. Who knew that all you had to do was hop in your car and make a 1/2 hour drive and you'd leave behind the dreary, acid rain laden post-apocolyptic LA cityscape for beautiful green countryside? Add onto that Deckard's "and we lived happily ever after" narration and you have one generic "Hollywood" ending. And it really sucks if you've actually seen The Shining.

Hardly... not to go completely OT, but I found it to be one of the most drab, bleary, and unwatchable movies ever... if not for it's boring plot moments, then for it's super dark and weak camera work that make most of the would-be awesome visuals near indiscernable... 402644[/snapback] You see, there are two kinds of people in this world, my friend; Those who appreciate Blade Runner, and those who suck. You suck.

From variety: Warner homevid has disentangled "Blade Runner's" famously thorny rights issues to pave the way for a September reissuereissue of the remastered "Director's Cut" version, followed by a theatrical release of a version promised to be truly Ridley ScottRidley Scott's final cut. Warner's rights to "Blade Runner" lapsed a year ago, but the studio has since negotiated a long-term license. The pic, now considered a sci-fi classic, has had a troubled history from the start: When Scott ran overbudget, completion bond guarantors took control of it and made substantial changes before its 1982 theatrical release, adding a voiceovervoiceover and happy ending. That version was replaced by the much better-received director's cut in 1992, but Scott has long been unhappy with it, complaining that he was rushed and unable to give it proper attention. The helmer started working on the final cut version in 2000, but that project was shelved by Warner soon after, apparently because the studio couldn't come to terms with Jerry Perenchio over rights issues. The restored "Director's Cut" will debut on homevid in September, and remain on sale for four months only, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. "Blade Runner: Final Cut" will arrive in 2007 for a limited 25th anniversary theatrical run, followed by a special edition DVD with the three previous versions offered as alternate viewing: Besides the original theatrical version and director's cut, the expanded international theatrical cut will be included. The set will also contain additional bonus materials. The massive "Blade Runner" project comes on the heels of Scott's four-disc treatment for "Kingdom of Heaven," released this week by Fox homevid, less than a year after the pic's initial homevid release.

Definitely not worth the lengthy download. Although...that schoolbus 'toon looked pretty kickass. -
I just have to add that this is probably one of the best projects I've seen on MW in years. Your SV-51 blows away any and all custom toys. It makes me wish I had the money for R/C.

The gore in the OVA is actually far closer to how it appeared in the manga than the TV series was. For each and every kill, the manga very explicitly showed brains, organs, bone fragments, eyeballs, oh....and blood, blood, blood.

I know....did you see that shade of blue on Superman's costume?! Way to bukake right on the fan base's face, WB!! We hate youuuuuuuu!!!
-
And not to be outdone (or ignored for that matter) the Southern Cross fans had to get in on the action. I don't know if this is so much a comic as it is a cry for help.
-
Ugh...now our bootlegger friends in Hong Kong are getting in on the action. Engrish + art = not funny!

Perhaps I should have instead said how humorless they are, as in "can't take a joke." Move along, chrono. This obviously isn't the thread for you.
