Hey, if anybody complains about somebody posting Appleseed stuff on Macross World, Exo and I will smack them in the head with our trade paperbacks of books 1-4! Anyway, I like your little Deunan figure. It just completes the thing.

Rogue Squadron 3 delayed!!!!!
bsu legato replied to Macross_Fanboy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's why I said that they were console exclusives. And AFIK, the PC edition of Shadows was actually a couple of years after the N64 version. But of course nowadays, they're released almost simultaneously. Or at least within a few months of each other. -

THere's one other aspect to this. Nintendo has long had a tradition of "exclusive" Star Wars games on consoles going all the way back to the SNES. Part of their marketing strategy, I've always assumed. It's been frustrating as hell for SW gamers like me who just wanted to play Shadows of the Empire or Rogue Squadron without having to buy a Nintendo just to do so. Of course, now that Gamecubes are selling for $140 Cdn I may just pick one up to play Rogue Squadron III. -
I think we can all agree that the best thing 0083 has going for it is the mecha designs. Regardless of their placement in UC continuity, they're still some of my most favorite Gundam designs. Of course, the Froating Head Kawamori is partially to thank for that, is he not? As for the rest of 0083...? I've found that it doesn't stand up very well after repeat viewing. I have a soft spot in my heart for 0083, since it was one of the OVA's that got me back into anime back in the mid 90's, but like Phantom Menace I can admit that 0083 isn't all it could have been. <_<

Keith, merely repeating "FB2012" ad nauseum does not prove anything. If there is proof in your claims in Flashback, then you have to cite it. Invoking the name itself does nothing to support your argument. Like I said earlier, the the coexistance of SDF and DYRL footage in music videos does absolutely nothing to prove your claims. Nor does the reconstruction of the Macross in the new footage at the end of Flashback prove anything. So if there's some insight to be gleaned from FB2012's new footage, then please enlighten us, o wise one.

Let's not forget that the fabled "non-Lucas" episodes, which is a laughable notion on it's own, had academy award winning dialog like: "I don't know where you get your delusions, laser brain." Oh wait, that's from Empire and therefore above reproach. I'm sorry. Please don't let the cold, hard light of reality intrude on the bashing. Laser brains. <_<

Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
bsu legato replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like plenty of stuff, thank you. But I like to think that I'm somewhat discerning in what I choose to enjoy, instead of wetting my pants at every ill-conceived genre film Hollywood decides to slap together. -

Speaking of which, there's supposed to be an AvP trailer this fall. There was a report about them filming it, over on IGNfilmforce. Oh yay. <_ -
Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August

Yes, but you know what they say; Misery loves company. As long as they keep making these crappy films, we're going to keep on posting these topics for you to click on. -
Better yet, I love the reports that Lucas has given the principals wide leeway in interpreting their roles this time around. And what about the stories of the sets being cleared of non-essentials at Ewan's request for the Duel sequences, so that Hayden and Ewan could be completely focused? Awesome!

*stands up* No, I'm Edo Andromeda C.

Wow, that has to suck. Well, it's nice to see you back anyway, big guy. :beerchug:

The side-by-side appearance of SDF and DYRL footage in music videos in no way supports your contention that DYRL was originally produced as a "movie within the series." And as we all know, nearly ALL post DYRL Macorss productions have used the DYRL designs when depicting the Space War 1 era. And the reconstruction of the Macross could just as easily be construed as a resoration of her DYRL incarnation, as opposed to a complete refit. The fact that they filmed Shao Pai Loon while on the Macross is completely irrelevant, and does not prove anything. Only when Macross 7 was produced was there any attempt to "reconcile" the two versions of the story. Personally, I think that back in '84, DYRL was just an alternate version of the existing story we saw in SDF. Need I remind everybody that Kawamori has gone on record and stated that he feels that both versions are "real?"

I feel the same way, but you gotta admit; Back in '85, they were cool enough to satisfy an 11 year old kid, who saved his allowance to get the one he'd found in an airport gift shop. *hides in the corner and cries *

Now Guppy...you wouldn't kid us about this, right? If your guy's right, then I can see why TFN is running with the "memory card" swap story. Stealthily taking pictures during working hours is far less illicit than breaking & entering to do so.

Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
bsu legato replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's the worst part! Cameron had said he was actually interested in doing another Alien movie, on the condition that FOX wouldn't go ahead with AvP. The problem is, it would have been a few years before he would have had time to develop it. FOX, of course, was more interested in something for 2005. Hence, we get stuck with this garbage. -
Of course, al0324! Has anybody seen the guy around the new boards? We need to chase after him to give us more art!

Cool! Go! Cheesy 80's Robot Action, Go!

Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August

You know...I remember that now. I don't recall the guy's name, but I read one or two of his online "rebuttals" to the charges of his script plagirism and he was probably one of the most self-righteous, sanctimonious blow-hards you could imagine. I assume that, aside from his bluster, he had no case. That said, the original Dark Horse miniseries would have made a damn fine movie. It wouldn't have trampled on an continuity for the two franchises, had some interesting characterisations, and good action sequences. *sigh* I guess we'll never know how good it would have been... -

Be careful what you wish for. Doesn't Mangle have the rights to the original series? I'd hate to see them follw it up by ruining a brand new OVA. -

No, the signal was real. I don't know if the Alien: Director's Cut will restore it, but there was a scene where the Nostromo's crew listens to the beacon. -
Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
bsu legato replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This movie will likely suck beyond human comprehension. I have NO faith in it to entertain, even in a "laughably bad movie" kind of way. Just attaching the name "Paul Anderson" to this project is like the kiss of death. And another thing...how can it take place on present day earth? If there's one thing the existing Alien movies have shown, it's that efforts to contain the Alien menace are doomed to failure, usually at the cost of most of the cast's life. Even the assorted Dark Horse comics got this right. If the Alien somehow came to Earth in the past (will they even bother to explain how? ) then why is the globe not overrun with them? -
Hey, don't blame me. I just got home after a 45 minute commute. <_< Anyway, she's looking great! I have a soft spot in my heart for those non-transforming Ride Armor kits.
