Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a frakking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the frakk you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows, stuffing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fraked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose a future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And Robotech? There is no Robotech. Who needs Robotech when you've got Macross?

True enough. I guess it comes back the same problem with RAW that we keep mentioning. Nobody, not even Jericho, is allowed to out-heel HHH and Evolution. If Jericho could cut loose like he used to in WCW, then I'd be happy. He was a guy who would do anything to make the crowd hate him. Not that HHH and Co. are particularly effective heels anyhow. Remember when the main heels used to actually be entertaining? They'd win matches because they were actually "tough" and not because of the usual interference from the NWO....er, I mean Evolution? Even Kane never used to need a sledge hammer to win, back when he was actually good in the ring. -
To me, it's all about suspension of disbelief. The original SDF Macross showed us very specifically why the Valkyries were designed to transform (to combat the Zentradi) and they did so in a reasonably realistic manner. They showed us why the Macross had to transform (to counteract the loss of the fold system in order to fire the main gun) and once it did so it was largely static with the noteable exception of the Daedalus punch. It was only anthromorphic in appearance, and if you could get past the notion of it transforming in the first place then it was smooth sailing for the remainder of the series. The Battle-7, however, is capable of transformation "just because." Because of this, along with it's fingers and the inevitable "gun" it carries, it's reduced to being another mecha, albeit on a ridiculous scale. I can accept "Metroplex" in Transformers but he has no place in a comparitively serious SF series like Macross. Thus, Battle-7 breaks that tenuous barrier between plausible and over-the-top silliness.

Jericho was funnier when he was still a face. I wish he'd gone to Smackdown and continued verbally abusing Stephanie McMahon. -
I can only see that one pic. The rest show up as the little red "x" of death. But otherwise, it looks as asstastic as I'd imagined the fighter mode to look. VF-5 Condor, you suck. I'll have to find my old copy of the REF feild manual and refresh my memory on the Alpha transformation. Then if I'm feeling especially ambitious I'll have to use my drafting skills for good instead of evil, and come up with my own drawing.

OT, but there's a lot of F-14 fans on this board

You guys must be thrilled the The Final Countdown is coming to DVD in a special edition. Other than Top Gun, is there any other film that showcases the F14 as well? -

Sable...again? Dammit, why can't they offer more and more money to Stacey Keibler until she agrees to pose nude? -

Has anybody attempted to illustrate that monstrosity? I'd imagine it'd be one ugly fighter.

Fake. Those are stills from "Starship Invasions," a cheapie Star Wars ripoff from 1977.

Come on, JsARCLIGHT....those weird baby-things with knives in the first game were kind of creepy.

I've never seen that view before. I guess it does have wings, now that you mention it. God only knows what it'd transform into though.

Who accused Van Damme of being an "actor?"
-
Ahctually, Van Damme ees not aging vary well. Hees stahrting to...how you say?...show some seerious deteerioration.* *read it out loud in your best Van Damme voice

Quit goofing off, you gruff-speaking work slacker! And while you're at it, cut that hair...ya hippy.

Were the Condors in Mospeada supposed to be variable? But yeah, I agree it's kind of silly the the REF would regress to manufacturing non-transformable mecha.

But what of the Riddle of Steel...?
-
Uhh...did I miss something here? Quadrono is/was back?
-
Humbrol....that could explain it. I've only used some of their flat colors, but I've heard stories about Humbrol being a little finnicky. All I can say is that when you're in doubt about paint compatibility, test test test.

Surely you don't have to be a fan of the cartoon, or even the entire franchise, to appreciate a nice, well designed transforming toy. Does it need some UN Spacy logos on it to garner any cudos from you?

I'd rather see western style boots & dusters in a Sci Fi show than silver jumpsuits, or any of those typical Federation pyjamas.

Yep. I got a copy for Xmas, and I was through it by the 27th. I thought it was a great addition to the series, and is probably my second favorite (the original Gunslinger takes 1st place). I'd read Salem's Lot over the summer, so I really enjoyed meeting up with Father Callahan again. My only niggling concern is the addition of *spoiler* . . . . . . . . . . . . . Stephen King, the author himself, to the story. I'll reserve judgement until I read Song of Susannah, but I think it'll either work really well or it'll fall flat on it's face. I don't know if something like that can have any middle ground.

Spoiler.... . . . . . . . . . . . . ok, I haven't actually read Black House yet, but what I've gleaned from WOTC and other sources is that "breakers" are used by the Crimson King to literally break the beams that support the Dark Tower itself.

Yep. I have to hit the used book stores this weekend to try and find a copy. I need the full story on these "Low Men."
