How long is it taking for you? There must have been hundreds of people connected last night when I was DL'ing it. I can see a lot of mods being made for this one. The first level alone would make an interesting Vietnam game. I just hope the multiplayer includes all of those vehicles. I'm actually inclined to go back to deathmatch-style gaming for this one, provided I can round up my gaming cronies for a weekend. Of course, they'll just want to "prone" up on a hill somewhere with the sniper rifle. <_<

You guys have far too much time on your hands. Perhaps your time would be better spent by forming some sort of religious cult. Hell, I'll even be your leader.

I read Salem's Lot this summer, and it was interesting to contrast it (one of his earliest books) to those he's written over the past 15 years. Comapred to his current style and pacing, Lot positively races along the narrative. Father Callahan doesn't really get introduced until 2/3 of the way through the book for pete's sake!! Were he to write Salem's Lot today it would have been twice as long, we'd have several chapters devoted to developing Callahan and the other characters, and one character would probably have some kind of bizarre fettish.

http://www.farcry-thegame.com/uk/index.php...hangesite=flash Has anybody downloaded the new Far Cry demo yet? Although it's not a franchise game like Doom 3 or HL2, Far Cry looks to be the first of the "next generation" first person shooters. The story, it seems, is pretty generic. You play as some kind of former spook/spec op/whatever guy, who just wants to run your island tour business. But as we all know from the movies (and video games) that's really boring, so you get involved in some nasty business on a tropical island. But that's just window dressing for the actual game. Like all of the newer game engines promise, Far Cry is capable of rendering huge, huge areas. The game demo takes place on the aforementioned tropical island. That's right, the entire island. No more invisible walls or conveniently places debris blocking you off from other areas. You can literally explore the width and breadth of the island. As I scaled one of the mountains in the demo level, I could gaze down into the valley below me with no graphical hickups whatsoever. I only had an hour with the demo last night (the download finished around 1:00 am) but I was already impressed with the AI of the enemy. They actully respond to the situation, and don't appear to be scripted in the least. The official site describes the AI as... Alternativley, if you decide to "Solid Snake" your way around the level like I did, you end up living significantly longer. It's a long download, but I highly recommend it.

The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread
bsu legato replied to areaseven's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yep, hanging with HHH and his cronies can only be bad for Orton in the long run. It's definitely NOT the way to build a good work ethic. -
Agreed. Anakin's betrayal, and his near destruction at the hands of Obi Wan is not only the climax of Episode 3, but the entire Prequel Trilogy. But that's not to say that we won't see the pre-mechanical Vader lay the smackdown on the Jedi order.

Hi Cap, Here's all I have left for working links to dealers in Kanuckistan... http://www.rangersairsoft.com/index2.html http://www.air-soft.com/ Also, you could check the forums at http://www.planetairsoft.net/ or http://www.airsoftcanada.com/index.jsp I think some of the sellers have gone "underground" so to speak. Well, that's the trickey part. For average schmoes like us, importing one is indeed like trowing money away. If you can even find a dealer who will ship to Kanada, the odds of it getting siezed by customs are pretty good. However, if can find one of the few dealers left in the country then there's nothing illegal about buying one. I don't know how these guys are getting their stuff into the country, but I hear that those days are coming to a close. Technically, there's nothing illegal about airsoft, as they should qualify as low-velocity airguns under our commie laws. But as you know, the Liberal govt will simply rewrite the law whenever and however it suits them. <_<

Thanks for the update and the larger scans, Graham. Can you tell us why Yamato decided to take such a different direction with the VF-0 toy?
-
Yup, count me in as another "real steel" collector too. I devote enough of my limited budget on them to fool around with Airsoft as well. And Captain America, there's still a few Airsoft importers operating within our borders. Not many, but there are one or two. If you ever wanted something I'd get it now before they decide to clamp down on them.

What do you guys think of the last unaired episodes that have been trickling onto the net? I thought "Fry Cook of Doom" was pretty good, but some of the others were just average. You can definitely tell that Vasquez & Co lost interest once they knew they were cancelled.

I wouldn't be too impressed with him, guys. He was in engineering, but he dropped out in his first year. Check the IMDB.
-
You mean, he might as well rent a Segal movie, cuz they're all straight to video.
-
Meh. My desire to see this one is dwindling very fast. The trailers were interesting, but so far the reviews (I mean the reliable ones, not the jokey trash-the-movie ones) have been mixed at best. I'll wait for the cheap seats....if one of my friends doesn't download it first.

The big Masamune Shirow appreciation thread
bsu legato replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Those gashapon look cool! I think that new movie looks pretty good, aside fro the fact that Deunan looks nothing like Shirows version. Properly done motion capture rocks! -
That's what I was thinking too. Interesting how cortosis' introduction would have coincided with the preproduction of Ep III. Hmmm....

This footage comes from a recent meeting for licencees over in Europe. There was an even longer presentation in San Fran last November, and reportedly the footage shown there ran about 9 minutes, including many near-complete SFX shots. There has been hints that this footage may be made available at some future date.

Hoo-kay, here we go. Spoiler.... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . if you don't want to be spoiled for 2005, you'd better turn back now. Go bitch about the 1/100 VF-0 toy. I know I did. . . . . . . . . . . Still here? Ok, the greensuited guys are to be replaced with the General Gervious' henchmen, most likely droids of some kind. They're the CIS's last ditch weapon to battle the Jedi. They're armed with some kind of lightsaber-resistant polearm. . . . . . . . . . . . End spoiler.
