So....this is one of those little puzzles that make computer geeks feel better about themselves?
-
So when *is* AX anyway? I gotta say, I'm far more interested in getting to the bottom of this than hearing what crap HG has to say about DYRL at AX.

Nah, Episode 5 will open with Edgar freeing himself from his parachute harness and congratulating himself on surviving yet another crash. Then he'll look skyward and see an SV-51 fly over and drop one of those huge MOAB-looking bombs. Edgar: Oh crap..... *kaBOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! *

I have no idea what you're talking about. Why don't you check with Vostok 7? -

I warned you. I may joke about a lot of things, but when I compare something to the Star Wars Holiday Special, you should know that I'm being deadly serious. Now let us have no further mention of that hairy abomination, lest somebody is tempted to pist pictures of him (and get this thread locked). -
Somebody needs to 1) right-click and save those pictures 2) email to Yamato Hey Yamato! Listen to our money!!!

Dude, I sent you that memo. Do you even read your mail anymore? Maybe if you came to the meetings you wouldn't be so out of the loop.

Good episode, but Kawamori came awfully close to losing me with that flying rock business. Other than Shin and Sara's magic carpet ride, it was a good episode all around. I liked that they (finally) added some much-needed depth to the baddies. I never expected Nora to look like Vash the Stampede under her flight suit. It certainly explains why she's such a bitch most of the time.

As long as it was only my sense of humor. If everybody else was like me, there's be nothing but supercharged V8's, assault weapons and death-dealing cyborgs waging an endless war against bad drivers and stupid people. Curiously, this war would be entirely fought in the parking lots of Wal Mart stores. Coincidence?

Second season of GitS: Stand Alone Complex!
bsu legato replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is anybody else finding season 2 a little....talky? Season one was never something you could just watch out of the corner of your eye, but it didn't seem to have the same long, looooong stretches of exposition that season 2 has. -
I can answer that with a qualified "NO." Robotech merchandise absolutely tanked. Those 12" figures are just a sampling of the absolute C R A P that Matchbox produced for the Robotech line. The 3 3/4" figures were absolute garbage, and came with very few accessories. Most of them couldn't even hold their own guns in their misshapen little hands. The only decent things to appear under the Robotech name were the repackaged Gakken toys (which never even made it to Canada) and the little die cast Destroids from Macross. If there was anyting good to come out of the whole debacle, it's the fact that the failure of the Robotech toy line played a large part in killing the Robotech II project.

Noooooo!!!! You might as well sit down and watch the Star Wars Christmas Special. It's just *that* wrong. But if you really, really feel the need to see he-who-shall-not-be-named, the just seach google. I hear he has his own website. -
The worst part about clicking on a thread like this is that there's no way to un-see what I have now seen. Seriously though, just what were Matchbox and HG thinking?! Did they really expect those to sell?
-
Only near-mint, I'm afraid. And it did NOT include the film strip, as advertised. frakking eBay scams. But I hear that Graham did one better than just leaving the guy negative feedback. We'll see how much that seller enjoys his money when his wife gives birth to a monstrosity with 1000 eyes.

Ive seen the last collection of Spriggan (Vol. 11, I believe) at a local comic store, but I won't pretend to understand any of what's going on. It does look like nearly all of the characters show up. I've looked for online "scanlations" but I haven't found any yet.

Graham fell to earth in a fiery meteorite, many moons ago. Raised in the wild by Pacific Salmon, he struck out into the world of man at the tender age of 16. But Graham's relationship with mankind quickly soured, as he was disgusted by what he saw as the proliferation of no-name Automated Bank Machines. He went on a brutal rampage in downtown Tokyo before being subdued by the JSDF. Graham then spent the following 10 years in a Tibetian monastary, 5 of which were spent in silent contemplation of his navel. A sharp blow to the head, accidentally administered by a 110 year old janitor while he fumbled with his broom whilst opening a cup of Yoplait yogurt, gave Graham the epiphany he needed to co-exist with mankind. He would use his vast powers for the betterment of man, and provide an online haven for basement dwelling geeks across the world. He joined forces with the secret government genetic experiment, known only as S.H.A.W.N, and founded Macross World. Graham currently resides in Hong Kong, where he sells Labor robots. He is married to a former superspy with whom he is expecting his first child.

What if I told you that I already had a copy of Song of Susannah? A friend of mine "found" it online and emailed it to me last week, but I've been so busy at work I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

Good gravy, does "Suspenders" ever look like somebody I used to date! Too bad that's not a good thing. -
SO CERTAIN, ARE YOU? I did enjoy Kasdan's earlier work, however. Nobody in their right mind can fault his work on Raiders or Empire. Even his work on Jedi was pretty good. Silverado still has a place in my heart, even if some of it does verge on spaghetti western cheesiness. But in light of his more recent works, I think we have no choice but to place him in the same category as those other directors who have sadly peaked, and are in decline.
-
Erm.....you mean the same Kershener that gave the world Robocop 2 and Never Say Never Again? And the same Kasdan that oh-so recently left the turd that was Dreamcatcher floating in the cinematic toilet bowl? No, I think Empire was the pinnacle of the careers of nearly everyone involved. Like Raiders a year later, it was lightning in a bottle. It was something that happens only once in a lifetime.

Bah, you guys are all just hatin' on Toynami. What part of "Masterpiece" don't you guys understand? It's clearly the most accurate Voltron known to mankind. I'd easily pay $200 for that. In fact, I just sent Toynami a blank cheque and told them to fill in the amount. No price is too high for the privilege of owning such fine craftsmanship. None of us are worthy to own the MPC Voltron. It's only by Toynami's uttmost charity that we are allowed to purchase it. Oh yeah.....

Interesting news, A7. I never would have thought that Gunslinger Girl would be something Funimation would pick up. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they don't butcher the DVDs. And speaking of butchery, the cuts that would be necessary to air Gunslinger Girl on Cartoon Network would likely make it nearly unwatchable.
