Jack Black is......The Green Lantern
bsu legato replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Good point. Do you think he'd be interested in doing another villian role? How could he ever top his performance as Mr Freeze? -

If they do make a Shadow Alpha/Dark Legioss, I hope to hell that Toynami goes the extra mile and sculpts the different components that make it unique. -
Official - Weapons Banter Thread
bsu legato replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This is nothing but yet another back-door attack on Black Rifles. I love how, with the exception of the 30-30, all the calibers listed as "evil cop-killers" are all used in modern semi-autos. Ok, the 30-06 isn't used in any "modern" military weapons, but there was that footage from Haiti that showed those rebels using M1 Garands, so that must have scared somebody. And what's more laughable is that there are purely civilian calibres that would be far more effective against body armor than the ones listed. Anything a .223 will do, a .220 Swift will do 10 times better. A 7.62x39 may penetrate, but so will a 6.5 Swedish. -

Ok, I apologize in advance for this nearly political post, but I think its of the utmost importance for any and all shooters to be aware of this stuff. Ted Kennedy & his Democrat buddies want to ban all your rifles. All of them, not just the eeeevil black rifles like JsARC's AR15. It's of the utmost importance for any and all shooters to be aware of this attack on our sport. That said.... -

I wonder if Bandai will post the clip on their web page. "OMG, OMG, OMG, they mentioned us on tee vee!!!" -
My only thought is that if Double Zeta can't kill Gundam's popularity, then nothing can.

MASTER REPLICAS - ALIENS MOTION TRACKER
bsu legato replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I have no doubt that Master Replicas will someday produce a licenced M41A, but who will be able to afford it? No, for my money the Monsters In Motion resin kit is the best buy, followed closely by that airsoft conversion kit. -
It's interesting, but as far as "real world" practicality goes it doesn't hold a candle to anything Kawamori has designed in the last 15 years. It certainly isn't concerned with features like a pilot & cockpit, or engines. I'd still buy a model of it, though.

In this case, I think I'll be more forgiving than usual if the story is weak. I watched that trailer here at work with no sound, and all I could do was sit there with my mouth gaping. The zeppelins, the searchlights, the robots...all of it just looks so very gorgeous.

The last time I saw it, the Canadian History Channel was airing the original version. I should check to see if they're still running it, and what version exactly they're showing.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/sk...orldoftomorrow/ Cooler than all of us combined. It sucks that Sky Captain was pushed back to September, but it looks like it'll be worth the wait.

Wow, that sure sucks big floppy donkey dick. I shoulda just taped the episodes off of History Channel.

MASTER REPLICAS - ALIENS MOTION TRACKER
bsu legato replied to dr_vandermeer's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Chuey speaks the truth. I recall once hearing that at least $100 of the price of the old Icons lightsabers went to Lucasfilm. Take that away, and suddenly your overpriced $300 prop becomes a much more reasonable $200 prop. -
I'd have to say that as far as inept militaries go, nothing beats the good ole' Robotech Defense Force. Under their watch, the earth gets invaded not once, not twice, but THREE times. Good job, guys.

Spider-Man 2 review! (spoiler free)
bsu legato replied to Zeta Otaku's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They still run them on late night TV, and I can't help but stop and watch them whenever I find them. To me, those will always be the portrayal of Spider Man. Spidey: You're all wet, Electro *dumps bucket of water on Electro* Electro: Noooooo!!!!! *bzt!* J.J.J: Spider Man!!!!!!! Parker & Ms Brandt: Hahahahahahaha *fade to black* -

On a slight tangent here (it's technically not off-topic) has anybody here broken down and bought the classic Spider Man animated series yet? You know you want to! -

Ahh, but I answered that I liked Handguns. Thus by your analysis, I should have been Solid Snake. -
Spider-Man 2 review! (spoiler free)
bsu legato replied to Zeta Otaku's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Whaaaa...? The Spider Man has already slipped to page 4? Up, I say! Anyway, as somebody who thought that the first film was "good" I have no reservations in saying that I loved #2. It was everything I'd wanted in a Spider Man movie, and then some. I'll definitely be seeing this one in the theater again. As for the future of the franchise? I think it's fairly obvious we'll be seeing Harry Osborne as either the Green Goblin, or the Hobgoblin. Will it be in part 3, though? With the box office momentum the Spider Man franchise has, I think it's very safe to say we'll be seeing at least a fourth installment. Doc Connors/The Lizard could easily be thrown in, but I don't know if there's enough story there for a 2 hour film. I've read that he could be used in conjunction with a second bad guy, but to me that runs the risk of going the same route the Batman films went, with the villians overshadowing the man character of the story. And contrary to popular opinion, I'm going to say "no" to Venom. Maybe it's because he was introduced after I'd moved on from reading Spider Man, but I never really cared much for him. He's too one-note a bad guy, IMHO. Here's my short list of Spider Man villians that also should NOT appear in film: The Rhino - big guy in grey tights and a horn on his head? The Vulture - geriatric with wings? Mysterio - ummm....maybe, but they'd have to something really interesting with him Electro - again, maybe if they lose to old-school costume. And while we're at it, I wouldn't expect them to be killing off MJ any time soon. If they were going to kill Peter Parker's love interest, they missed the golden oportunity to do it in the first film when they recreated the scenario that led to the demise of Gwen Stacey. If they write out MJ, say in the fourth movie, I'd expect her to just "go off to Europe to model" or something like that. -

Ah, the FX versions. Sorry, I can't help you there. Besides, I just found out that I need to replace my cat-back exhaust system on my car. -

And yet Turbo Teen still languishes in some forgotten vault, with no DVD release in the forseeable future. And what about Otherworld and Earth 2?

This was also brought up in an James Cameron interview I read in the spring. All the crap that made Alien 3 suck was literally her idea. She'd actually wanted that stuff written into Aliens, but fortunately she didn't have the clout to make Cameron rewrite the script. If you'll notice, by the time Alien 3 got made she had her own name added as producer. Hence, she got her way and the franchise has sucked ever since. And her holding a pistol on that other poster is no big deal. You just have to remember that she's a giant, f*cking hypocrite. Nic Cage is the same way. He has no problem whatsoever making ultraviolent films for Jerry Bruckheimer or John Woo, but when it comes to merchandising he won't allow his likeness to be used if there's guns. If you've ever seen Dragon's 12" Windtalkers figures, you'd see how a clever company gets around bullshit like that.
