  1. Hmm... Can I post my own question now? It's been awhile... What magazine was Yomi reading in the Azumanga Web Daioh short? PS: It must be spelled exactly as it was in the short to get full credit.
  2. I've never heard of the last one... STOVL, maybe... Short Take Off/Vertical Landing. Take off of a short runway, fully loaded, and return, landing vertically, after dumping all the weight on someone else.
  3. 360 degrees of movement!? Good luck. Unless you get into transdimentional manufacturing, even your god can't pull that off. If you want 180 degrees left to right, and a number elsewhere, the Yellow Submarine balljoints are the best. They're stiff, and they're paintable.
  4. Only because Bandai keeps pumping them out. Like Macross fans wouldn't snatch up the same old tired VF-1 over and over and over again if Yamato keeps pumping them out. At least we have variations. However, a conscientious Gundam fan like myself wouldn't be caught dead with a tiny toy, although, I will admit that the prototype HCMP Mk-II looks pretty good. Whether or not I will buy it remains to be seen.
  5. So the decision to cancel the F-14 rested on one person alone? So, who was sucking Cheney's dick so hard that he missed common sense?
  6. You make it sound like inventing new technology takes simply a snap of the finger. All F-14 tooling has been destroyed? For what reason? Isn't it a better idea to keep them in storage, in case F-14's are ever needed to be built again? Heaven forbid F-14's should be allowed to get replacement parts fresh from the factory. Now aircrews may have to look to the black market.
  7. I was being perhaps a little harsh. There are plenty of decent looking Valkyrie designs out there, but just in Battroid mode, I think the VF-2 looks best. The VF-0 comes in at a close second. Indeed ;-) We've been down this road before, and we've always agreed to disagree. We know each other too well :-P You know, I have a problem with the nosecone too, but I think aside from that, it's a solid model. Note that no proportional cheating was involved. It looks like that whole thing was built from the Hasegawa fighter kit.
  8. Nonsense. Why's that? Because my taste differs from yours?
  9. Aside from the VF-2SS, the VF-0 is about the only Valkyrie that looks respectable in Battroid mode. This looks great. If only the feet didn't splay out towards the front so much, this would make a kick ass prototype for a Battroid VF-0S kit. Thank you much, Graham.
  10. You know, I'm allergic to heatshield polish, so I would serve little purpose as a heatshield scrubber. Perhaps I would be more useful as a gunpod cleaner. Everyone knows gunpod wax does marvelous things for the skin, cuts grease like nobody's business, and tastes pretty damn good. Hmm... I should get Johnson & Johnson to put some mint in that thing. I'm getting a little bored with wax.
  11. Excellent work! The skintone's shading seems a bit too pink, but where it's not, the colors are very nice. I love the hair colors as well. It's not overdone like others I've seen. One gripe: Her right leg doesn't lay flat on the table's surface... But overall, very nice work. Let's see what you do with that Misato. Actually, if I want to see any figures built, I would want to see this: http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php/c...products_id/649 And/or this: http://www.hobbyfan.com/product_info.php/c...roducts_id/1223
  12. You don't have to. Everything in Season 2 was more or less meaning less. If you wish to pick up on the storyline, start from Season 2's finale and work your way forward. UPN == United Paramount Network. Why would Enterprise's parent network, Paramount, want to air ITS show on someone else's network? If you have a big screen, why do you want to watch TV at someone else's? I don't look for plotholes. I don't care about historical accuracies. I don't care about small inconsistencies in the continuity. The only thing that really bugs me is that Star Trek still believe in a linear universe, but I digress. What I want is a show I enjoy, and Enterprise more than delivers. The modern CG graphics make ship battles very beautiful, and though I wish I can see some more advanced technology, what I get from Enterprise is perfectly fine with me. I cannot wait to see this season wrap up.
  13. Did our posts not make sense? You can't get the Strike/Super parts separately. You'll have to buy the Super/Strike Valkyrie kit(s) for those parts. As far as the weapon set is concerned, you may be SOL at the moment. It'll be reissued soon enough, so you can just wait until then. Check out HobbySearch: http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/shop_right_e.asp...thumb=1&Spage=1
  14. Hmm... The picture in your profile is no longer the one you had before... It's now the same one as the picture in your signature file. Your girlfriend is very pretty.
  15. Ah hah! Well, AMRAAM 2 they shall be, then :-P Still, this leaves some room for Super AMRAAM's in things I may choose to make up in the future ;-)
  16. Actually, they look like AMRAAM's without being AMRAAM's. It's been awhile since I last saw it, will confirm tonight, but I remember getting this feeling that they are just more advanced version of the AMRAAM's, i.e. it feels like they would perform like the AMRAAM's would, only better. I'm pretty Macross ignorant, so I'm guessing the Compendium probably has a listing for it which I simply haven't seen, so until someone correct me (please?), I'll refer to them as Super AMRAAM's :-D
  17. Definitely not. Battroid kits have their legs enlarged , simply because the legs of the Valkyries in Fighter mode are just too small for the Battroid to look right. So the Super/Strike packs won't work. Trust me, after you built the regular VF-1S, you'll want a Strike VF-1S. Don't let anyone else tell you differently, by the way, because the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie kit comes with parts for both the Super and Strike valks. And regardless of your skill level, if you have some glue, nippers, and sandpaper, you can build that Valkyrie. Granted, it won't look like a pro built it, but it will be built. It's not that hard. Yeah, if the VF-0S was carrying AMRAAM's. I meant Super AMRAAM's, what I call the missiles we see those planes carry in Macross Zero (read: name == inofficial). They sure aren't modern AMRAAM's. Are there Super AMRAAM's today already?
  18. The VF-0S' FAST packs only came with the kit because there's really no other profitable way to sell them. The unfortunate thing is that we still have no VF-0 missiles. The kits' instructions don't tell you to drill holes in the wings because if you've done so, there's nothing you have that can plug those holes up. The weapon set's instructions tell you to do that. The DYRL pilot is much better detailed and proportioned than the VF-0S pilot, by the way. I have no real incentive to install Roy in my VF-0S. PS: I forgot the customary ":-P" emoticon after the "living under the rock" crack. PPS: If you buy the Super/Strike Valks, you can still build the regular Valks with the FAST packs parts left over, since the Super/Strike kits just add in a few more trees for the necessary parts, but there's little reason to do so because, well, it's just really stupid to... :still waiting for Super AMRAAM's to install on my VF-0S:
  19. Hasegawa? If so... I suppose you've been under a rock for the last few years... The Super/Strike packs are available as separate kits. There are no pilots in your Valkyrie kit, if you'll notice, because they come packed with the weapon set, which includes enough munitions and pilots to outfit a regular Valk as well as a Super/Strike. If you'll look closely at the lower wing halves, there are holes that you drill out to install the pylons from the weapon set. They're nice kits. We're all anxiously waiting for the VF-0D kit ourselves, actually. Wm_cheng has done plenty of beautiful build-ups, and if you check out the "How to build models" forum, they're listed there. Although I can't read the earlier ones, since I wasn't a member of the board back then.
  20. Eep.. When did my school (UC Santa Barbara) build this heavy strategic dropship? :-P
  21. Although I wouldn't expect Hasegawa and Tamiya levels of engineering with Revell/Monogram kits, they're still not all bad if you're willing to put some work into it. Before I knew about Gundam, all I built were Revell/Monogram fighters (1:48 scale, mostly... I didn't build much 1/72...), and I didn't have too much trouble with them. There are some nasty gaps to fill, but if you've built models before, they're no big deal. I remember the 1/48 scale F-16 kit with the blade antennas on top of the nosecone was pretty damn good. Their car kits arent that bad, though. I remember building their Ferrari Testarossa 512TR several years back, and the part fit seemed pretty good. I just finished assembling the 1995 ('96?) Batman Forever BatMobile, and it's sitting here on my desk. Save some seams in the back side of the car, it fit well, and there's a nice amount of details. Check it out: http://www.uweb.ucsb.edu/~stamen0083/progs...BatMobile01.jpg http://www.uweb.ucsb.edu/~stamen0083/progs...BatMobile02.jpg And I'm excited about their new Enzo Ferrari kit.
  22. Green stuff? I don't understand people's fascination with that crap.
  23. Thanks, but I didn't write it :-D My friend Touya Akira did. If you were around Gundam.com back in the days, he was known as Amaterasu no Mikado. Anyways, here's the full website: http://s89202096.onlinehome.us/
  24. Hmm... The highlight of the show was the jiggly ;-) Anyone catch the Azumanga Daioh joke in there? The GM with the wiggling hair thing... :-D
