You're kidding me, right? The only ships that are the same as the original series are the Vipermk.II and some of the fleet vessels. Those were retained on purpose, and the even the Vipers have some refinemet's in their design. Cheap space flight? This is the first series since Babylon 5 to attempt realistic space flight. Andomeda has it's moments, but this new BSG tries to keep it as accurate as possible. I'll admit that some of the shots of the Cylon Centurions look a little off, but for the most part, these are some of hte best FX on TV. Better than some movies I've seen. The actors seem to be doing pretty good job to me. I certainly wouldn't call Edward James Olmos a "fly by night" actor. Are you certain you haven't been watching Galactica 1980, instead?

Hhmmm. I bet a Maximillian reproduction would make a great security sentry. It's just a matter of hiding powerfull enough lift fans in it. *plots*

It's not just your area. Wal-Mart apears to have taken Alternators off it's official modular, so it's up to the heads of the toy departments at hte individual stores to decide if they want to continue buying new Alts. I haven't seen too many stores around here, bringing in new ones. My local Wally World doesn't have a space for them, any more. Considering how rarely I've seen Alts at TRU, and that all the Miejers that I have access to still have mountains of Smokscreens, it looks I'll be buying my Alts online, from now on. That's how I got my two Deadstreakers. -

Sorry? At no point did Hasbro or Takara officially reveal Dead End's mold was Sunstreaker, nor were there any package pics of him called Sunstreaker. The only reason we know he was originally Sunstreaker (besides the head) was that old test shot with the molded 'bot symbol. This Wheeljack is way ahead of that. Oficially, Dead End stole Sunstreaker's BT body. That is why he looks like him. You would have thought that they would have at least taken the time to change his head. Especially since the raised Autobot insignia was removed. I have two Dead Ends on the way. (Local stores never got them in) One is being repainted back into Sunstreaker, the other is gettting his "ears" removed, and new head details added, so that he no longer looks like Sunstreaker. -
Cy-Kill was pretty cool. The best transforming motorcycle toy I've seen, up to Energon Arcee. (not counting anything based on MOSPEADA) Go-Bots get a bad rap, because there were some really poorly done ones, that were worse than anything that came out of the Transformers line. I've got an A-10 here, named Bad Boy (names were another problem with the line) that sucks out loud. Powerglide was miles ahead. Later the Go-Bots line gave us tranforming rocks. Who came up with that one? I always liked Go-Bots when I was a kid, because they were about the same size as my Matchbox and Hotwheels cars. Transformers were always cooler, though.

I'll break the head if the flaps and mouth plate are connected. I've seen pictures that suggest that moving one, makes the other move. If that's the case, I will remove or break whatever mechanism forces them to work together. -
Some people don't like to give credit. Some will even go so far as to claim them as their own work.

They did slack off the imortal of the week thing, in later seasons. They gave Duncan other things to be concerned with. Yes. Christopher Lambert was in the pilot episode. One of my favorite quotes of the series. Duncan: Conner! What are you doing here? Conner: Headhunting.

I'm looking forward to the new series. I'll most likely watch the raw version, or get the fansubs. I have a hard time watching the dubbed TF shows, anymore. Prime's voice distracts me. He sound almost, but not quite, like Peter Cullen's Prime. If it was a completely different voice, it wouldn't bother me. I'm not really looking forward to the toys, that much. Hasbro still hasn't figured out that RID sold like gangbusters, because the kids could actually identify the alt modes. I'm looking forward to Prime, even though I've yet to identify what he's supposed to turn into, but the cab section, looks pretty cool. I know I'm going to have break the head mechanism. The cut out mouth plate looks just as bad as it did when they tried it with Energon Prime, but I don't like the side flaps out. With any luck, they're not connected. There's just something about I like. I'll pick up Prime, and the handfull of figures that have Earth based alt modes, but my collecting focus is deffinately turning towards the Alternators. I like Energon, because at least half of the alt modes seemed to be inspired by real world vehicles, even if they were modified. -
I just want the slow painfull death of the little poo that hacked my webhost.

Don't keep up on Ipods, so I wasn't aware that they finally caught up with the with rest of the computer industry with the plug and play. Don't like bells and whistles? I wasn't talking about the interface. Most of the large capacity MP3 players I've seen have interfaces that are obviously inspired by the Ipod. I'm talking about the way the thing looks. It's a white box. The pstels available on the mini Ipods are not an improvement. Given the internals, I undestand that there's going to be a boxy shape, but the featureless casing looks bad. These are good looking MP3 players. I don't know what's up with all the buttons down the side, but even without them it looks better than an Ipod. Just as a note. I don't really know anything about that player. I saw a link to it else where, and thought it looked pretty good. I've also seen a pretty nice looking player out of Dell. Sorry, but I just don't see the attraction. They're bland, and priced much more than their competition. Yes, they inspired what's become a nearly standard interface, but all they really seem to have going for them these days is really good marketing. If you like them, good for you, but they hurt my eyes. I'm not saying anyone is stupid for liking them, I'm just trying to understand the craze.

Battlestar Galactiga. The original 70s one.

I don't where you got your info from but let me take you up the speed. The iPods are Firewire/1394 and USB 2.0 and can be recognized as an external hard drive from the get-go. When did they finally get around to introducing that? That was the big complaint I heard from the first couple genrations of Ipods. You needed special software for them, when using them with a PC, even after the Windows compatible ones were introduced. I know they've always been plug and play with Macs.
-
Clean? Try antiseptic. The white box design is hideous to me. Every other MP3 player I've seen, looks much better. I loved hte looks of the one that Gateway had out. I never said it couldn't be used as a removeable storage device. The fact is it is the only player out there that needs special software installed just to get it to talk to a PC. Unless you're on an older OS, you can just plug any other player out here into a USB port, and the computer will see it as a generic removeable drive. I don't need that much space on a portable music device. I never need more than two hours worth of music at a time, and I generally only tend to go with songs that I actually like. I dont mind hearing them more than once. Not that hear too many repeats as it is on my little flash based player. What I don't like is moving parts on something that small and expensive. Far far too easy to bounce a head off a platter in a HDD if you bump it too hard. The Porsche comparison is apt. They don't corner any better than an Ipod. The problem is that the Ipod isn't offering Ferrari perfomance to match it's price tag. I've heard too many complaints that offereings from other companies have better sound quality. Style always wins out over function with Apple products. Look at the infamous hockey puck mouse.
-
I don't get the whole Ipod thing. Plenty of com[anies make MP3 players that are just as good, if not better, adn cost way less. It's also the only USB MP3 player on the marjket that you can't just plug into a computer and have it be seen as a removable hard drive. Most other players will also let you change the batteries. All rechargable batteries eventullly go bad, Apple's are no different. Not to mention the fact that they're just ugly! I'll stick with my little RCA Lyra. I'm not fond of hard drive based MP3 players.

A VF-1J in gray, with blue and silver trim. Any Starbucks on the route, would be fair game for target practice. Hhmmm. Maybe I should be flying a colonial Viper, instead.

Those Prime heads look great. They look much more Prime-like, to me. -
Just found out that I will be getting some NiMH battery packs for my RC truck. No more curse of the Ni-Cad, for me!

Macross. Banpresto forever! *hides*
-
I blew the last of my meager "me" stash on some Transformers for Toys for Tots. I do know that a TF I've been wanting has been bought for me, though. No Macross for me, this year. I'm a big fan of the Banpresto Valks, and I can get those anytime, though.

Doubt it could hold the weight. Anyone added fiberglass (with hinges and some sort of weather stripping) to a book shelf to make a near air tight display case? No, but I've got a bunch of those Plano plastic shelving units, and I was thinking about putting clear plastic sheets all around one to give a nice dust free display case. Just leave the front panels hinged. I wanted to keep all the different sections seperate, instead of one tall display case. I was gonna use Electrical tape to hold the sides and back on, so it could still be taken apart. Now that I think about, drilling some small bolt holes might work better.

HELP: Patlabor Color Scheme Suggestion
Greyryder replied to dyowelb's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Could always go with the classic olive drab, with a big white star. Has anybody ever tried replacing the rubber "fabric" joint covers on those patlabor models with something like rip stop nylon? -

I'm loving that Wheeljack. The head sculpt on that thing rocks out loud. Knowing hasbro, they'll probably make some Decepticon. So long as they keep the white with blue daytona stripes, I'm getting him. I can always change the faction insignias if they decide to make him Breakdown, or Frenzy, or something like that. Now I don't know if I still want to get Grimlock. -
Yeah, they bolt right on. It's even adjustable. I just don't know if Troy Lee Designs still makes a visor that will fit it. It's an old helmet. EDIT: After poking around on the Danscomp site, I see that the Stingray visor is still available. Cool.
-
I've got a full face BMX helmet I should try that with. Not sure how it would look, since the visor doesn't end in a peak. That looks very cool. Good job.
