Toybiz Looses Toy & Game License To Hasbro
Greyryder replied to xstoys's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Uh guys. It's Toybiz World Wide that's getting the Axe, Not Toybiz. They're two different, unrelated companies. Toybiz will still be designing the Marvel Legends. They will now be manufactured at Hasbro's factories. It will still be Toy Biz's designs, just Hasbro's manufacturing, and distrobution. This should mean better paint aps and availability. -
Now you know why I stay away from enamel model paints. I'd sand down the areas that have anything stuck in them. With care you should be able to get past the debris, without taking the underlieing paint off. After that, I'd use an acrylic clera coat. I do like the Model Master Acryl flat clear coat. Future is a good option, because it's harder than model paint, and seems to wear well. The problem is it's super shiny. I've heard that mixing it with Tamiya flat base works well for making satin and flat clear coats.

"classic" Movies That You Piss On
Greyryder replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I liked Maximum Overdrive. Mostly, because it has no redeeming values. Sometimes I just want to veg out, watch big trucks run over things, and see a couple of explosions. Plus, it's funny to watch the ATM cuss out Stephen King. I've never seen the original The Shining, but I have seen the TV movie that King himself was involved in. It stayed pretty true to the book. The Jack Nicholson movie always put me off, because they gave him an axe. It's supposed to be a big assed mallet. You just don't get the same kind of splatter, with an axe. Aliens is just about number one on my poo list. Alien was a nice tense horror movie, then Cameron sent in the space marines. A lone alien, carefully, and intelligintly stalking its prey is scary. You never knew where that thing was going to pop out from. A bunch of aliens running willy nilly down a hallway towards a machine gun emplacement, getting mowed down like a bunch of lemings isn't scary. I came here to see to terrified people getting munched, not a bunch of artillery laden bravado. That's what Predator is for! Pulp Fiction didn't do much for me, either. At least the first From Dusk Till Dawn was entertaining. How many roles did Cheech play in that, anyway? Not really a classic, but Transformers: The Movie pisses me off. Can you say deconstructing a franchise? What mental midget thought it would be a good idea to kill off all of the popular characters, and replace them such flat annoying stand ins? Sure, Ironhide and Kup were both veterans, but Ironhide knew when to STFU! Don't even get me started on Hot Rod/Rodimus. -
That's why they invented profanity laden irate phone calls. Even if it doesn't help, it makes you feel you better.

As long as it isn't weirder than Dead Leaves. I swear, that movie broke my brain.

If he paints it as a cannon fodder, you won't be able to see if the paint chips.

Shoji Kawamori Designs Transformers?
Greyryder replied to ComicKaze's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've seen the truck mode. It's easily as bad as the Robot Masters version. The mutant windshield that showed up with 20th Anny Prime has grown to even worse proportions, and the front wheels look to be jammed too far forward in the wheel wells. Plus, there's a gaping hole in the sides of the cab. EDIT: Followed the link in ComicKaze's post. The truck mode looks even worse than in the last picks I saw. Poor Prime -
There's one or two spots where you can see her wearing a top similar to the one in the games. A full body shot of her in that outfit would have been nice, just to see if they pulled it off. I miss the voice from the game.

That trailer reminds me of some of the 80s sword and sorcery movies. Suddenly I want to watch Beast Master, again. I remember reading an article where Uwe Boll said that in the second movie he'd like to have Rayne show up in the old west, and in the third drop her into WWII. It shouldn't take three movies to start getting close to the source material. Why do they let this man keep making movies?

Yet another G1 Prime, with no alt mode.

New Polar Lights NCC-1701 Refit
Greyryder replied to B-52 GUNNER's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's not so much that they were to lazy it was more that ILM (who did the first season FX for TNG) hated the Constitution model. It wasn't built by them and thus didn't have the kind of access doors and mounts they normally try to build into their models. Even the gloss on flat paint scheme reeked havok with their bluescreen compositing techniques (which is why after STII it has a more uniform matte paint). 341738 Really? I was under the impression that they had built their own model for Enterprise A. I know I remember reading an article, where they said that they enjoyed blowing the model in ST3, because of the problems the glossy paint cause them with the bluescreen shots. -
Honestly I prefer Q4 to D3. DOOM3 generally anoyed me with it's lack of amunition, and guns that won't kill anything. D3 always felt like it couldn't make up it's mind whether it wanted to be survival horror, or be a monster fest like the earlier DOOM games. Quake4 had much better gameplay. The pace was faster, and while the weapons felt like a step backwards from Quake2, they seemed to be more effective than D3's weapons. I just missed the lone marine theme from the earlier games. Why is it always marines in sci-fi? Does the Army not exist in the future?

Let's see, they're remaking Robocop, and working on a TV series and new movie for Terminator. Any guesses how long untill we see a Terminator Vs Robocop movie?
-
Can't say I'm real worried about this. I mean, it's a sci fi show on Fox. You'll be able to count the number of episodes that get shown on your fingers. You might only need one hand. Still, I thought the old Robocop series wasn't too bad. Better than the third movie.
-
Yeah, but it's not a prequel, they're using it to restart the franchise. They want to take Freddie back to his roots. I also heard they'll be taking the nipples off the Freddie suit.

PREDATOR REMAKE, Terrific now my childhood
Greyryder replied to zeo-mare's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This doesn't even make sense. The original movie is not dated. It easily stands up to current movies. (actually, it surpases them on many levels.) Predator 3 would be a much better idea. I don't even want to talk about the Alien franchise. As far as I'm concerned, they screwed it up when they sent in the space marines. -
hmm, on the MPC and on this one the windows are right in line with the grill which is what to my untrained eye one of those cabs looks like.... am I missing something? only if you roll around on gold skates. 339952 The grill should be just in front of, or flush with the windshield section, but the headlight sections should also be flush with windshield area. Every picture I've seen of MP Prime, has the windshield sticking out past the grill. HBS Prime has the same problem. I've seen enough cab overs for that to drive me absolutely nuts, when I look at these things. They just keep adding shapes and angles, where none belong.
-
I'm actually talking about the front part of the cab. The part that makes it look like a truck. They're botching it, They're botching it bad. A transformer without an alt mode is little better than a gundam. This Prime does not turn into a truck. It turns into a mangled box on wheels. The bad part is that the biggest fix would be so simple to implement in the design. They just need to move the damn windshield back. It should not be sticking out past grill and headlights. It's possible to give him two good modes. They're just not trying. I need a ticket to Japan, and a large stick. Or maybe, a bent gold baseball bat....
-
*weeps* They screwed up Prime's alt mode, AGAIN! I just don't get it. Cab over trucks are not that complex. In fact, they're pretty simple, structurally. How does Takara keep botching it?
-
If HBS-1 is anything to go by, then it'll probably have a little die cast in it. HBS-1 had calves and shoulders, this one will probably have calves and chest. I gotta say, I'm not liking what I'm seeing of the cab side detail, on this. They're probably gonn try to cram way too many gimmicks in this, and forget that it's supposed to transform into somehting, just like they did MP Prime. At least the Robotmasters version was simple enough to modify. I'm holding my judgement, untill I see a physical prototype, but I'm expecting the worst.
-
I don't think that HBS G1 Convoy is based on any previous version of G1 Prime. It looks his fore arms unfold into the front wheel wells. I also see what might e a trailer peg hole in the back of the leg. If that's the case, then I would assume that the wheel assembly rotate around. I swear I see gattling gun details on the bottoms of his leg fuel tanks. I'm still waiting to see the prototype. The've screwed up the alt modes on both of the recent attempts to redo G1 Prime. I hope they got it right, this time.

I was always under the impression that Six killed the baby, to spare it from the bombings that she knew were coming.

Weekly World News article, actually. 330444 I was looking at the WWN at the checkout today when I was buying groceries. It said that there are people alive trapped on the Titanic. I would have though James Cameron would have seen them when he was down there...their reporters really go all out, I guess. 331352 I think I saw that movie. Cristopher Lee played the captain.

Alt Prime is also in scale with the other ALternators (20th Prime is a1/28 scale) and actually looks like a real vehicle. No cab over tractor ever looked like 20th Prime, and I'm not just talking about minor details to aoid liscensing fees. Unfortunately Alt Primes bot mode looks like crap. I'm hoping it's misstranformed, but I'm not thrilled with the idea of him being a street truck. I still think he should have been a dually, with standard suspension hieght. Maybe I'll be able to mod his bot mode to look like something.

"Toasters leave!" I was just thinking the the other night that he and Clancy Brown have given us a couple of the greatest movie villains of all time. Hhmm. Clancy Brown, as Cain.... "Why is that Cylon there?" "I'll tell you later." (Yeah, I know. He wasn't a villain in that movie. Leave me alone.)
