I've been meaning to mention this, but as is often pointed out that "Robotech is not Macross". But in the RT world their Gunpods fire Depleated Uranium ammunition. The round does not need to be of fragmentation type to kill the Regult pilot, the "shrapnel" that is sucked in by the force of the AP round does the soft target damage. You just need the initial high speed "punch" to get through the armor. Now if you will note in Ep 1, where Hikaru shoots the pod... most of the rounds actually go "around" where the pilot sits. although he did have a few torso hits, I'm sure he was in a "Zentran Rage" and didn't feel it, till he died of course -
Day 5 Got quite a bit more work done on my v.2.0 I've been over working myself over the last two weeks. So I decided that I need to spend some quality time with my little friend. Problem is, I have a really bad cold that's just plain old whipping my ass. But I'm going to do as much work as I can. I completed building of the torso. Found several areas that needed "modification". what was originally a very small "gap" of unsupported material. I created "shims" (left) to fill and support this gap. I also figured out that v.2.0's center of gravity was behind the centerline of the legs, so I created a cardboard "insert" (right) to weigh down the front of the torso. (see image below) I also started to assemble one of the barrels, completed the first barrel insert, and installed it... it looks kewl! get more information and see more images at: Southcross Model Monstrosities: Monster V.2.0 Day 5

It sounds like he is doing a little more than "trimming sprues". Sounds more like he is cutting something already together into pieces.

if you deside to do it with an Xacto... first use a straight edge. go to an office supply store like Staples or Office Depot, for about $4 you can get a 12" Stainless steel ruler. When you cut, don't try and do it all in one pass, take several shallow cuts to cut through the piece. if you need to cut curves, your going to have to do it "free hand" and good luck at that I personally would not use a Dremel.. too easy to make irreversable mistakes.

hehe thanks CW

Are you refering to the FN P90? Because it doesn't use a "helical" mag. AFAIK, the only small arm produced so far that used a helical mag was the Calico smg family. AS for the VF-11 gunpod, it could be that only the magazine body is curved, to better fair it into the gunpod body during flight. I agree. I have only seen the Calico using a helical magazine. The Calico system is definatly very "interesting". Generally the design is too unreliable for contemporary military use, but does allow for a "massively" higher capacity for a less "critical" consumer market. Actually, the PP-19 Bizon also uses a helical magazine. http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg08-e.htm I know about this gun only cuz I play the Firearms HL mod LMAO! btw has anyone ever seen one of the "plastic" cars made in russia during the late 70s-80s? You thought the Yugo was bad  I have to question the reliability of this firearm. -
speeking of Ass?!? with all that hair, you can't see it anychance your gonna make a Resin kit?

400 rounds, if I recall. The size of the muzzle is not indicative of the size of the shell being fired. The part that exits the muzzle is a small part of the bullet. Most of it is powder and casing, which is ejected. Case in point, the A-10's 30 mm rounds are actually the size of a milk bottle before firing, which is, what, 60 mm? according the the images I have seen of the 55mm round, its "case" is not much bigger than the projectile. I looked and I can't find the site I saw the image. The best way I could describe the "shell" that was depicted... "looked like a beercan with the tip of the projectile poking out of the end". Its quite possible the image I saw might of been "fan-art" Now the gun pod on the YF-19 looked like a typical "bottleneck cartridge" round, there was a scene in the OVAs where they were loading the gunpod. -
wow dude... that rocks! by far more accurate.

well I can "share" but the deal is these files are HUGE! At the last time I checked the files were well over 120MB. And I'm still not done. The files are currently in B&W and I will have to convert them to color for my custom "images". Color can be almost 2-3x bigger. I might be able to do "printed" copies, but thats even trickier, as I would have to limit how many I can print. Otherwise my employer might get a little miffed. If I would share the files, I would distribute via CDR media. I would ask for a small "donation" for the work (and of course the CD + shipping). Depending on how this thing comes out... I might "break the mold" and possibly sell the completed model on ebay.

Ver 3.0 update: I'm about %50 complete doing my cleanup of the parts. i.e. %90 done replacing the text, fine details, etc. The next step is working on any "custom" parts, modifications, and the "additional images". This part is giving me some great needed practive working with Vector art. I've decided to not clean it up %100... I think the JPG compression adds a bit of edge weathering and texture to the surface. things that would appear as "lables" or painted on, metal plates, port openings, etc I am redoing the graphics on to make them stand out like they were a different surface or material. Here is a sample of some of the cleanup I have done so far: (sorry dialup users) Before 1 After 1 Before 2 After 2

I can do just about anything to a PDF.. except I still haven't figured out how to fix a currupt/"can not access page" PDF. If anyone knows of a f'Utility that can fix broken PDFs I'd love a PM. EDIT---- Correction I can do just about anything to an "un-encrypted" PDF. I have had limited sucess with encrypted PDFs, but its not 100%.

It might be on one of my Macross albums (see attached photo). Unfortunately, my record player is packed away and I can't read the Japanese song titles. :looks over at record player: let me play em for ya nice collection you got there

Hey if you are still needing someone to do some custom PDF work, give me a PM... thats all I do, just about, for 8 hours a day (err night)

I'd rather have one to the correct scale, but thats just me. -
Max's VF-1S in DYRL extends the head during fighter mode and turns taking a shot with the lasers at Miria's Q-rau. I tried to get my VF-1A to do that, but it didn't work. Hey another one I remember... good I'm not entirely insane

Macross and Southern Cross are not even remotely related (outside of the Robotech world)... I would like to see this screen cap -
I would seriously love to add some of these Robotech items I see to my collection... but no way would I pay the prices some of these auctions go to

all that for 1,500 yen??

In theory they should be able to produce light/heavy missle packs to include with the Regult, and you just swap a couple of parts in the back. The recon one with the radome had a different "face" too didn't it? That one would likely need to be a separate entity I would think. At the least the light missle packs would make a nice bundled option. The recon pod was completely weaponless, so all the plasterons would have to be covered up or removed.

Actually if memory serves me correctly... as if often doesn't... and I don't recall what eppisode this animation is seen... But I distinctly remember an eppisode where the "head" is actually retracted up-underneath the Valk in fighter mode and is capable of "extending" out. Presumably this is something the toy isn't capable of doing Also I think the 'A' 1/48's laser barrel looks too long, looks kewl, but still I think its too long. Though I haven't really looked closely at the pics I have seen. You are refering to the episode where the big battle with the Bodolza fleet happens. Hikaru "extends" the head of the 1S to make a whole in the bunker wall. BINGO! now I remember thanks for refreshing my memory
