The "Minmay Attack" song which was featured in Macross II : Lover's Again was played several times in Macross 7. Was it officially one of Min May's songs? Has it appeared in any other of the shows?

OMG...if I could do something like that....I won't be able to part with it for self-satisfaction and sentimental value. I wouldn't sell it.....but if you're one of those hardcore modellers able to replicate that easily.....i guess it can be a lucrative business. Heheh.

I'd want one.....but considering alll the problems people have mentioned, abit doubtful i'll get one. I'll wait for VF-22 M&Ms to be released.

But you realise in Initial D, the CG sequences and the cel-parts are entirely seperate, never intertwining. Same goes for GONZO's Last Exile and Vandread. Even in Macross Zero, there's not much intermingling of CG and cel...but like I said before, I'm not sure why they decided to make the explosions normal cel when everything else is in CG....makes it look weird. Its funny to see a CG VF slowly turn into cel as it gets shot and explodes.

This should be in the n00b post, but since its related, i'll post here. I know that the Minmay guard, Blue Roses and Enigma are all custom paintjobs by some fans, but did they have some kind of background story for them? Like...what is the Minmay Guard? Is it Minmay's bodyguards or something while she goes for intergalactic tours? etc.

I think in a heat of a battle, there's no way to realise the "markings" and what nots that indicate that a plane is a squadron leader, unless it was colored bright neon green when others are drab grey...... Learnt that from Warhammer 40k and why you can't target heroes. And about kill markers....if they really had some adverse psychological effect, i'll paint them all over my plane....and haxx0rz their morale.

Its da lasers....they be so hot that they burn off all the tissue and stopped the external bleeding, but not the internal ones. But then again, I don't think they gave it much thought. Thumbs up to melodramatic death scene. But , i'd still prefer him to die in a "blaze of glory" like powered convoy said. One dude against impossible odds....hold the line to save his comrades....oh well.

Was rewatching episode 22, and I realise what I thought were 2 landing lights in front of the VF-1's nose was firing lasers. Are these really weapons or again, animation mistakes? Macross Compendium doesn't say anything of such a weapon.....is Macross Compendium supposed to be canon?

Huh??? Wasn't it CG that would make things too life-like? In fact in Shrek, they had to downgrade princess whatshername's detail so she would seem more cartoon than life like. And "doll" effect....you probably have not seen Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. But I think you meant its not currently cost effective to make CG "life-like" compared to cel, which is true. Not saying that it should be realistic or not. This was just a comparison between the "who has better CG argument" between Yukikaze and Macross Zero higher up the thread. I personally like both as they are, but it would be cool if there was a almagation of both. I saw missles and explosions......all hell's break loose, so no I did not see the VF following Nora. The way I understand it, a fleet of boats/carriers are as good as dead when fighters get as close as they did in M0 3. The fact that they did get that close was either the CAP was completely obliterated....or them russian valks bashed through the front lines. It seemed that only Fokker was the only surviving pilot to defend the Asuka. But you could argue that dogfights were still happening around the Asuka and only Ivanov and Nora broke through the CAP. It wasn't me who noticed it....it was my military freak friend. He's the one cussing Macross Zero for all its real world irregularities.

Only issue I had with Macross Zero's CG/art were the explosions. Not sure why they opted to use traditional hand drawn explosions against the CG models, which kinda showed the glaring differences between the 2. But other than that small irritance, I'd say Macross Zero does a good blending of CG and traditional cel. IMHO, Macross Zero had more detail, but dogfight simulation was not entirely realistic. (They are Valks afterall) Yukikaze had less detail to the models, but their flight physics and dogfights were more realistic and when they bank and turn in the air, you can see those pressure lines on the wings. PS: What real world irregularities (military, non-military) did you find in Macross Zero? I have a military freak friend who cusses Macross Zero for showing: 1.) Carpet bombing stealth fighters 2.) Asuka getting attacked without a CAP (Combat Air Patrol)

And even after he so-called work his ass off, the valkyrie is till pure white instead of the blue in certain places?

That's a good answer, butI don't think it's "official", is it? Besides, it begs the question, why doesn't Battle 7 have a configuration which doesn't need to be transformed to swivel the cannon? Thanks. It does make sense, but like ewilen pointed out, they could very well make a turreting cannon instead of transformation. Transformation takes alot of precious time which leaves the ship vulnerable for those precious few minutes. But its a good answer nonetheless. Thanks. Another few questions: What valkyrie was Basara flying in Macross 7 dyamite? It looks like Robotech's YF-1R with the 3 lasers and all, then I remembered in fighter mode, its a VF-19. So its basically a modified VF-19 eh? And that planet Basara was on.....they aren't humans and I assume aren't Zentraedi either. (look more like a cross between elves and beastmen) Does this mean humans/zentraedi have made contact with other alien civilisations? Even so, it looks like they have soaked in human culture to the point of playing Basara's songs on their public radio and owning Valkyries. Thus, this means that UN Spacy has become some kind of intergalactic governing body?? Is there such a thing as "Meltrandi" in the TV series? Are all female Zentraedi referred to Meltrand?

The SDF-1 had to undergo transformation so power conduits can be connected to fire the macross cannon. But why does the Macross 7's Battle 7 have to undergo a transformation? It would be tons easier if it could fire in normal configuration. I just passed it off as "because it looks cooler in robot mode" but I guess there's always more to it. And, what is M3 which apparently features Miriya and Max and VF-4s? Is it a game?

The most difficult part of transforming the 1/48 is probably from battroid to gerwalk, where you had to coordinate everything at the chestplate area. Everything had to be in place, IE: the nosecone, the head and the swing bar/engines. I found it relatively hard to push everything in when transforming from battroid to gerwalk. But once you get all the positions of all the parts right, its quite easy with just one push and everything's in. Gerwalk to battroid is easier, since you just have to apply pressure to the top of the cockpit (not on the cockpit itself), and everything comes loose.

I wonder who are those Tori No Hito (bird people). Macronised protoculture? And why was there no mention of it in SDF and Macross 7. I bet it somehow awakens and flies away while causing the whole earth to have amnesia or something. But not after Sara does something to calm it down from destroying the whole world. Hehe.

Hi, i'm n00b here, so bear with me yeah? Started rewatching Macross SDF after 15 years fast forwarded from my childhood. Things I never realised as a kid, the obvious cutting-cost animation. I was just wondering how much was Macross's budget when it started. It seems on certain frames quite oftenly, there will be animation inconsistencies, ie: colors change, gunpod not there, pure white valkyrie etc. Its like they had a whole buncha animators sitting in a room, but not all of them are following the color designs they were given or something. There was also a scene which I vaguely remembered, when Max and Hikaru was in Britai's ship....one of the valk's changed into the VF-1D.....or some other valk that wasn't supposed to be there. (i'm rewatching....these are vague childhood memories) Are these mistakes due to inexperienced animation staff, low budget, or short on time? But Macross is not the only cartoon which suffered from art inconsistencies. Being a Transformers fan as well, there are alot of these inconsistencies in Transformers as well. Is it just something that happens often in old anime? IE: people not careful enough with QC issues.

Hello everyone. I'm a n00b here, and this macross community is scary to say the least. You guys have alot Macross swag, and I feel like a complete n00b. A poor n00b at that. Only Macross stuff I have are the Super Deformed VF-1S, the 1/60 VF-1S with strike packs, and the 1/48 VF-1S to complete the "set". Browsing the forums, this can hardly be called a set, looking at your mouth-watering collections...... I really wished that I had the cash to own more than one 1/48.....and buy fastpacks for at least one of them. Well anyway, enough about the poor Macross fan which is I....I just wanted to know, where do I get them cheap fighter jet stands to display my 1/60 in jet mode? I personally don't like displaying them on landing gear , so I want a stand. I saw some of those tripod like crystal stands on some of the forum's pictures and saw some of them selling on TMP....but they were abit expensive for a poor unemployed kid..... I did see these simple plastic stands at my local toy store's display, and on them were 1/60 and 1/48 Yammy Valks, so I asked the shopkeeper if I could buy them. He was rather unfriendly and said they were sold out and out of production, and no way I could ever get them, ever. (He then goes back to his PS2 game leaving me there at the counter.......jerk)
