That is why I happily use 2x saboteur and 1 medic paradigm for those tough bosses. But it doesn't have to be successful. Successful or not, it will deal some pittance amount of damage as well as maintain the stagger bar. Very useful paradigm.

I'm at chapter 13 and you're allowed to go back to pulse to continue your grindings. Take note i did not grind and just played the story all the way to chapter 13. When I returned to pulse, the missions were relatively easy for Ranks B,C,D. So for now i'm completing the missions. Getting gil , CP and high EXP components fairly easily to comfortably upgrade multiple weapons. Some creatures drop items that cost alot of money and you ocassionaly find a gold nugget using your chocobo, so that's where you get your 50,000 gil. You will use your money to buy high EXP components like particle accelrators and rare transformation minerals that will give you your ultimate weapon. They cost like 250,000 gil for the most expensive mineral so good luck with your grinding. I think you get to kill giant oretoises to get the rare minerals too but those things are huge and tough. I can't beat one yet. Abit saddened that i'm close to the end of the game now. Its a relatively short FF game which i think i'll finish (+ grinding) with a total of 50 hours game time tops.

Apart from Melt and The World Is Mine, there seems to be lack of Ryo's songs. Not sure why.
-
Thanks for sharing the concert video. Very awesome concert. Abit saddened though by the lack of supercell songs. I wonder if its due to licensing or something. But Melt as a finale is awesome. I just wished they redid the dance choreography for that song cuz the dance is weak for such an awesome song. And what, no Miku miku shite ageru? That's odd.

Yeah i meant when you get to the *, the EXP won't carry over to the new transformed weapon because * is as high as it goes. So you have to be careful on your weapons hitting the * level. Most weapons hit * at 25 but I think my Umbra was level 20 last I experimented. You're right about the luck. If things went right for me, the 1st boss of chapter 12 should be dead in less than a minute. Otherwise i'll be having a long tough battle just cause I didn't hit the stagger bar. As for Snow, he's a better sentinel than Fang is. He has more HP. But Fang is a favorite for ppl on forums due to her later abilities. My least used character is Sazh which should not be the case but I find him hard to fit in especially when I need a sentinel and a saboteur in my party.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
wolfx replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I second that. I just wished they released more seasons for it quickly. 3rd season spent too much time on the prison planet and not enough time in space. -
There's something strangely wrong with this game in terms of balancing or whatever. I could kill monsters comfortably easily now with a 5 star rating but damn the bosses can be tough as nuts and i always end up getting 0 star rating. I mean this is ridiculous, i was supposed to beat one boss in 50 seconds (target time) but i took 10 minutes to slay it. Am i doing something wrong here? Spoilers TIPS for the end of chapter 11 : Disappointment with chapter 11:

So far i'm fighting wildbeasts and C'ith so yeah no gil. Which is pretty silly considering the shops have been updating themselves with better weapons and accesories and i can't buy them unless i decide to sell weapons....which i'm collecting. As for weapons upgrading, my biggest EXP component is a particle accelerator that gives 7000 base EXP. I had to be careful using it because if an item was close to getting * level, the leftover EXP points won't be carried over, which is kind of annoying and making me crack my brain with maths. i.e.: how many particle accelerators do i use when my gladius is level 19, with 3x bonus? All my character's weapons are now at level * until I can find more high EXP items to upgrade them cause after the upgrade into the new item, their stats drop down very considerably. And so far I haven't bothered to upgrade my accesories because the cost of upgrading a silver bangle into a tungsten bangle costs more than buying the damned tungsten bangle itself. So i rather wait for a better version of an accesory to become available rather than upgrade them.

Welcome to pulse. You're not gonna like it. I didn't grind and regretting it atm. And i need gil. No sources of gil yet.

Just killed the chapter 11 boss after numerous retries. >.< Got 0 star rating. Anyone had trouble with him? His spells of mass destruction were really painful.
-
I find the later monsters to be quite tough and eidolons are a godsent against those particularly difficult "hunts" when there's too many of those small fry who have ample amounts of HP. Do not balk at a swarm of leech looking things. They killed me a few times when I was missing a sentinel paradigm. Oh and i barely made it out of my final eidolon battle after a couple of retries. The battles seem inconsistently hard at some points.

I read it somewhere during the development of FFXIII and i didn't notice glaring mouth sync problems. If anything, the sentences constructed for FFXIII sound absolutely normal and not as odd as anime dub sentences. (they tend to make strange sounding sentences just to fill in some syllables that were there in the japanese track) On another note, goddamn the creatures on are tough as nuts. >.< I find myself having need to change my battle team often to cater for specific monsters.
-
Who else thought about this when Shinji was trying to save Rei?
-
There's a reason for that. For all the new Square Enix games, they retimed the mouth movements for the english release so it won't look odd in the cinematics. So putting a japanese track over "english-timed cinematics" would've made that effort pointless.

I finally reached the great big open. AHHHHH FINALLY......i'm not walking in straight lines anymore! Yeahoo! But when I 1st got to Pulse, things were big and scary and my battle stats dipped below 4 stars. Had to level up abit to get myself up to standard. I also have unlocked all paradigms for all characters, but they are expensive CP points to spend. So i haven't really went past the starting 3 paradigms yet with any character. Btw i noticed my weapons looked abit different after i upgraded them abit. Not sure if its the lighting or because i leveled them up.

I finally got to the part where the whole gang is reunited and I get to switch my battle team. Gonna call it a night now. Spent like 4-5 hours on the PS3. A secret is revealed about Vanille. She becomes more likeable as a character as her happy go lucky character is somewhat a facade. I swear her "serious voice" has some kinda irish accent. And i like it. Important note to everyone who might be thinking "where the hell do i get gil in this game?", you can sell off your credits that are spoils from most soldiers for a load of gil. Credits are components which have a EXP value of "1" so i reckon they shouldn't be used for upgrading weapons. The gil will help in buying accesories and parts for you to upgrade your weapons. I still find it hard to switch weapons whenever i pickup a new one because their stats tend to be so low for their otherwise not-so-significant ability. The price to upgrade said weapons also cost way high for that small increment in STR or Magic. So i'm usually sticking to my original few weapons. PS: i like sazh's 4th attack. Gundam Cherudim anyone? PSS: and as for the gunblade....there's no way that thing can actually fire bullets. Where do the bullets even go?
-
Hmmm... i've been using them i quantities of 5 but i have not came across a negative one even for mechanical parts. Generally i use the small parts to up the combo then switch to the high ones (which are usually mechanical) to increase it further but thankfully no negative multipliers yet. Also i'm not sure if its prudent to level up more than 1 weapon at a time cause the later weapons you pick up seem pretty crap (like most of them are strength 5, magic 20 at level 1, which the more balanced weapons seemed better ie str 18, magic 16). I rather be sticking to my 1s weapon and level that up. Anyone have any pointers if those str 5 mag 20 weapons are worth upgrading?

Esuna should fix the deprotects or wear the accesory that has 30% resistance to deprotect. Wyverns are faster than those steel beasts which take forever to rack up that chain bonus...but i think my grinding habit is kicking in so I didn't mind it. Haven't reached open world and zomg good more hours and chapters?
-
Didn't get to play much today in terms of advancing the story, but I was taking my sweet time killing scaled beasts and wyverns and all manners of fauna with Vanille and Sazh. Yes both the rainy ones and the sunny ones. Massive CP to be had.
-
Guess i was lucky then. LOL. i'm actually surprised u went back to fight it a few more times again just to see why people were talking about that boss fight. You have dedication.
-
Finished the giant pokemon-like boss as well. Why do people complain about this boss? It took me 2-3 minutes but I hardly think its due to random factors. I didn't even know that its weaknesses changed lol. I'd say that Lightning's "Launch" ability is too awesome for its own good. It basically makes a staggered foe useless especially if its a big boss character. David, I'm assuming you have your characters with at least level 2-3 weapons and almost all roles leveled up to level 2 at least by that boss fight? And yeah that lightning summon was pretty useless.

Nothing you didn't already mentioned. Cast de-protect and de-shell on them, Bravery on selves, then dual ravage one till you get the chain break and the rest is easy. Rinse and repeat with 2nd pulsework soldier. I can't remember my rating for them though. It wasn't 5 stars thats for sure. 3 or 4. You sometimes have to press triangle on that final chain breaking attack because if you don't the chain combo meter might reset before your usual 3 attacks are ready.
-
Oh they DO help.....and some battles drag out too long or are not winnable unless you shift paradigms often. Yes. OR you get Lightning as a ravager to cast thunder to make it an easy win. I didn't find the Sazh x Vanille pair to be hard, just abit annoying that I have to control a support character (Sazh in Synergiser mode). Generally if you're taking too long killing something, you're doing something not right. Rethink your paradigms.

I felt this like a step backwards from FFXII which was in its own right a very good game. You get to move around the city, go to other cities, have side hunting quests etc. But oh well i'm probably too early into FFXIII anyway so i'll give further impressions as i get further into the game.
