Newbie ANSWERS thread!

I just love my 1/55 CF. The 1970s brown color scheme goes well with the old-school look of the toy. And they're generally cheaper too, if you can still find them available. This HK site has good prices if anyone is still in the market for 1/55s. Angolz No Browns left, but check out the price on the VF-1S Super!

When you've finished spending money on toys, here's something else to blow cash on. A nice big 20" LCD to read MW in portrait mode. My Valks love it!

If you're talking about my attempt at carving myself a set from eraser rubber. I only ever got as far as carving one hand. In the end I grabbed a set of recasts from Robhi. I had a little package waiting for me when I came back from the UK. (That's where here I disapeared to. That and simply not having much to say) The joining pegs took a little carving and the plastic feels a little wierd and soapy. but they are the right shade of white and look nearly as good as the originals. I was quite happy with the purchase. My two beauties are each sporting a pair at this moment. Much nicer than the old chicken hands, but they are no longer 'perfect transformers' and I can see why some people who are fanatic about such things could prefer the chicken hands which can fold into the arms.

I used to play the Palladium RPG back the golden age of role-playing (late 80's). It was great fun. During combat we used white board laid out on the ground for terrain with markers for the mechs. One thing. The Game Master has to be the most Macross knowledgable person in the room. We once invited a friend of mine to play who was a first-class anime freak. He contradicted the GM at every turn and we hardly got anywhere!

Here's a melee attack for the VF1... "The Valkyrie Kiss" Position your head lasers so that they are pointing forward. Grab your opponent with both hands and ram your valk's head into them as hard as possible. The aim being to pierce your opponents armour with your head lasers. Once penetration has been acheived, Fire lasers!

One night after a heavy nights drinking I stumbled back home and was sitting up in bed playing with my Bandai 1/55 CF. I must have flaked out with it still in my hand, I woke the next morning to find that I'd spent the night sleeping on it! Broken tail fin. I Super-glued it back together but it'll never be the same Moral: Valkyries and Alchohol don't mix

Graham You're a Legend. A dead set Legend.

If Yamato has seen Jung's CF, they'd have to be thinking about it. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=5287 If you haven't seen it take a look. It is one sweet custom.

I posted about this just last week http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=5549

Yes Yes Yes. List them by Artist so they get due credit. I did post this idea on the Staff Feedback forum This is the reply I got from yellowlightman: "For the most part, custom Valks aren't nearly as common anymore. I guess the variety in Yamato's releases and the Bandai reissues got rid of the need for most customs, though we still have some members making some really kick ass customs. Macross Fan Works (see my sig) is open to toy customizers too, but most of the people who use it are fan artists. " What customisers have to do is PM yellowlightman for space on the Fanworks gallery. I still think a dedicated custom valk gallery would be nice tho.

Thanks for the replies guys! I wasn't expecting such a generous response. Paint washes? I've used ink washes before when painting wargame minatures so I asume it's basically the same thing. Watered down black or gray acrylic paint applied and then wiped off with a wet tissue or sponge.

Which period do you want to live in the Macross
flippant_remark replied to vanpang's topic in Movies and TV Series
SW1. The SDF1, the arrival of the Zentradi. It's all there. Plenty to tell the grandkids. But if you want to live to have any then don't fly in a brown valkyrie! -
Who would you want to date on valentine's day ?

I've read enough good things about Takatoys stickers to think it must more be more then mere fanboyism. Only question is would you pay $20 for great looking stickers? In my opinion FPs would represent better value for your money if you've just bought a 1/48. but hey, while your paying for the shipping you might as well grab the stickers too. I wish I did when I originally bought my 1/48s from the Kevmeister

Yeah. I suppose you're right. I'll just have to take the plunge and find out for myself.

Don't worry I'm not going to ask how to do panel lining. I've read enough posts to know how to do that (just have to find where to get a gundam marker) What I want to know is how good soes it look in reality? In photos it looks great because it brings the detail out from under the harsh flash light. But to the naked eye I'm afraid the effect would be too "heavy" and would actually reduce the realism of the model. Panel liners. I'd value your thoughts.

Australian SDF:Macross DVD box art
flippant_remark replied to Cyclone's topic in Movies and TV Series
BTW The $150 price tag would include 10% GST which OS customers don't have to pay. So for US buyers it would be about $136 AUS before shipping. -

Cyclone. Mate!! Where can I get a hold of this?? -
To be more exact, wouldn't acceleration depend on the thrust to mass ratio? Also there is a practicle obsticle to infinite velocity in space. As you approach light speed the light traveling towards you would be squished into gamma radiation with enough energy to vaporise any craft you might be traveling in. Be it VF1 or Aplha

Hi guys, As you can see from my posts and join date I'm a noob. Please don't mistake my enthusiasm for presumption. I am really enjoying this site and am having a great time re-aquainting myself with Macross. You've got some good people posting here and some very talented ones too, which brings me to my point. Guys like Kurt and Jung are producing and posting some stunning looking custom 1/48 Valkyries. Unfortunately they have to post on the temporary medium of a forum and the photos of their gorgeous creations eventually get buried by new topics. It would be nice if there was gallery for them to post images of their customs for the rest of us to drool over in perpetuity.

Well there was that fellow with the phonebox....

Thanks guys. The thought did occur to me to use something like whittled wood as a connector. It was when I was trying to squeeze it in the hole that I broke the finger. I had already nicked it early in the creation process and in the end there was just not enough rubber. (yes I'm aware of how that sounds and I'm smiling too) I might fix up the hand using a cut down pin to reconnect the finger. Though since I've decided to go for a set of Rohby re-casts, It would purely be for the intellectual exercise.
