Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's not funny eugimon, we have a serious problem here, okay? -
I always loved the Brocken. I've never thought I'd see a Revo one so soon. It's me or that Ingram has opening holster?

The fast pack on that 1-A looks like a Joke Machine's. Still not getting them. Roy's head looks good tho'

Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
As far as I can see from that pic, the back boosters are too low in battroid mode. Not just it would interfere with the knee articulation, but it's not anime accurate. I was hoping that Yamato would solve that issue in this release since the 1/72 version had the same problem. I still hope that CAD doesn't reflect the final version for that matter, it's a tricky thing but not an impossible thing to do. -
I don't care for the scale being perfect. The bare idea of the three Mac + VF's displayed together in fighter mode on tripod stands makes me drool.

Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
A Revo YF-21/VF-22 is the only Macross variable fighter I'd buy. I so wonder what has Kaiyodo planned for the Macross line: VF-1's and then what? -
Again, if Yamato don't tweak the scale, they'll end up doing the same toy we already have (wich makes no sense for them). Sure Yamato has learned a lot since 2001, but other than eliminate the chunk under the wingroots and the sculpt a bit, I don't see it matching the quality of the YF-19 or even the VF-0. I say Yamato will cheat again on this one. Mark my words. Edit: i don't mind a bigger-than-normal VF-11 if the toy is significantly better than the old "1/72".

I saw a 1J at a toystore in LA a couple of years back as a display piece. It looked very fragile and was already in bad shape. Reminded me of those RX-77 and Zaku 2 I saw at a SDCC once, but those had great detail, definitely more worthy of your Theater Room than Toynami's piece of chunk.

In any case, I'll keep holding on the Zeroes until we hear of a more convincing solution from Yamato, like free of charge problem free replacement parts. That's too bad, I wanted to buy a new Roy and a Shin eventually.
-
Please post them. I'll add those pics to my "YF-19 mods and fixes" folder. That wasn't a bitter joke. I really have a folder with all the tweaks and fixes shown in these boards, so I have a perfect 19 when my toy arrive
-
Nor they've been in touch with the ball joint, so the "chemical reaction" argument don't work here. This is weird. Those shoulders are about to explode already.
-
I was expecting some nice poseable Rei/Asuka figures, but the proportions on the shown Rei are way off. The head is too small and the legs are too fat. Too bad.
-
I meant room for improvement in that size. Not only Yamato would have to make the old 1/72 match the quality of the new YF-19, but they also would have to make room for a few gimmicks as well.
-
The VF-1's are 1/48, and no other company are producing Macross toys on that scale, so I doubt Yamato has any troubles license-wise to make the 11 at 1/48. Or they could just tweak the scale, make it the size of a 1/48 with a 1/60 pilot and print "1/60 scale" in the box. I see no legal issues there. As for making it a proper 1/60 scale, I wonder if Yamato will bother redoing a toy they've already done (given the little difference in size) wich seem like a waste, since there wouldn't be much room for improvement over the crappy 1/72. My guess is that Yamato will tweak the scale just enough to make the toy 1/60 and worthy of the Macross Plus 1/60 line.
-
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The same way Yamato could tweak the scale a bit with the 1/60 and make a bigger/better toy. Unless our beloved scale zealots here have any objections, of course

I think there's quite a bit of anime magic in that area. The shoulders need to be basically two square metal plates to sit flush in Fighter Mode wereas if you look at "Battroido" they're nicely shaped with rounded edges. On the 1/72 those square plates remained thus (making Battroid look fugly), but at 1/60, Yamato will have to do better. Edit: Grammar

Domo arigato, Mr. Yamato I still have some gripes about the quality of this first release, so I'll keep waiting, but for those that preordered the Ivanov I hope it's flawless.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh great! Now if I want Shogo's helmet, I will have to buy a whole new ugly a$$ silver Garland. C'mon, you won't find a pimp death on that thing. Edit: What we really need are some decent after market fully poseable figures. And I mean a Shogo, Yui and Dead Buddy set.- 1056 replies

I'm not much of an 11 fan, but these look sweet. I guess, after the VF-1, is the valk with the widest range of color scheme possibilities, being a mass produced VF in service all over the galaxy.
-
Good guess.

Ah, thanks for the heads up Sorata. I have to check the games section more often. Are the previous releases fun to play, or is it frustgrating like Battlecry? Back on topic (sort of), I'd like a 17 too, with the sensor dish and fold booster. And yes, more angular should be the way to go on this one, I ended up selling my Bandai due to it's chunkiness and lack of detail. That toy definitely needs the 1/60 "High End" treatment. And lots of color variants!

Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If we just get a high speed mode that looks anything like the lineart, I will be soooo happy. -
Whoa! I've never seen this game before. Which platfom is it? Is it any good? I've seen there's a Q-Rau there as well, sweet! The VF-19 is too sentai for Macross standards (just like the whole M7 series), but I'd love to have a blue VF-19s. I love the head and the scheme is good enough for me. I can't stand Basara's tho'. looks too much like a Megazord to me with the face and the burning red scheme, UGH!

James Cameron's "Battle Angel" Movie
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Danny Verissimo "would have been" a good choice for Galli tho'. But as things are right now I doubt Cameron would dare to show the boobs of a asupposed 13 year old girl, even if she is a CGI cyborg. I visited the studio hired for this in LA last year (I have a friend working there) and they showed me some of the designs that were sitting there collecting dust because apparently Cameron were busy with other stuff. I've seen very little of the manga, so I couldn't tell you if the characters looked like those in the book, but I liked what I saw. Very anime like Combat robots. Personally I hate the Detroit approach of most american robot films like Transformers. As for Cameron directing this, you have to give the guy the fact that he knows how to use a given resource. I think he knows what CGI can and cannot do, as long as he doesn't abuse of it as most action directors do nowadays, I think it will be a movie fun to watch. Edit: Added the "would have been" at the beginning, as it's clear that the teaser is a fake -
Yeah, too bad there aren't any VF-19s in the games. Yamato could dosge the licence prohibition that way and let the rest to us
