Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Do the wheels spin? I remember reading a while back that the CMs' had an issue with that. Great work there, Drif, BTW. -
Bubblegum Crisis Toys

Looks robust and less "pregnant" now on Slave mode than the early pics we've seen, it still looks squat tho'. I hope Aoshima makes a toy version of this eventually. It wouldn't be the first time they turn a model kit into a toy.- 881 replies

Great review as usual, Jenius. BTW, I just checked the price for the Hoquet and Shinobu types just out of curiosity: I forgot that these thingys are a tad more expensive than the MH ones. So much for a cheap alternative. Too bad since I was considering getting the CMs' also in case they beat MH releasing enemy mecha (something Beagle probably will never do). One more thing: you said that the Blowsuperior is the best proportioned Ridearmor toy yet. Is it better proportioned than the Rey/Stig types also? Did they change anything besides the metal locks and the overall design? -
LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

I read somewhere that Tobey McGuire just signed for two more Spidey sequels. I wonder if that's a sign of anything, like the RT project was delayed until further notice? -
Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

That looks just like the plastic they use for injection model kits, doesn't it? -

Hey! The fixed pillion pose Mint figure was MH's idea! C'mon, Mega House, show them who you are releasing a fully poseable Mint next! Seriously now. All these CMs releases are very tempting, but I have my money on the Mega House line already, so I'll just be patient. -
Knight Rider the Movie (and Series)

I'm with Hitler on this one: that car is a brick on wheels. Why they had to turn the sleek graceful Cobra into another chunky muscle car (with all due respect to areaseven who's obviously into muscle cars)? As for attack mode, with all the holes and speed bumps that car wouldn't survive five blocks in a chase here in Mexico City,. -
I consider myself a big Mospeada fan and skipped on all of them because they don't look anything like the Legioss and they were too expensive for such a toyish looking, well, toy. If the price were near the looks of it, I would've bought them all. Same with the 25. So I guess I share the "looks over sturdiness" philosophy. And again, the fact that Bandai went for durability on this doesn't necessarily mean that the toy will be flawless. This is a complex design and that means there's a lot of things that can go wrong. If the DX 25 turns to be rock solid, I'll eat my own words and admit that despite the looks it delivered, but I'm almost certain that it WILL have issues.

Based on looks only, I prefer to buy any Yamato 1/60 instead. I did wanted an Ozma, but for me, these just don't worth the effort. I'm not a accuracy nazi, mind you. Not in this case at least, I've only seen a few episodes of Frontier and whereas the Messiah has grown on me, for the battle sequences I can hardly tell if the hips are too big or if the knee sits too high up, but I do like to see my toys as works of art, and I think every Valk should look mean, cool and sleek on Gerwalk, Battroid and Fighter modes respectively and this toy fails miserably in all three cases. (same reason why I decided to skip on the CMs' Legiosses, tho' I kinda like Armo Soldier mode sometimes). Maybe the DXs strong point is not on the looks but on the sturdiness, durability and zero design issues, but that also remains to be seen.

WTF? Dangard Ace?? From Yamato???
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've never seen line art of this, but the toy looks very well done. If only Yamato got the Mospeada license. -

Kevin is a very good suggestion. I got my blue Alpha from him and I even got him check the damn toy for issues before shipping it to me, because living in Mexico city it was a pain to return a defective one to Toynami myself. Kevin rules. Thanks, Jenius. -

I'll get the Robo version. Is there any other place besides Robotech.com where I can preorder it (now or eventually)? Somewhere Paypal friendly I mean. -
Yeah, what a bunch of showoffs

Those aren't missile racks. Those are ammo cartridges (or whatever they're called), the Defender has no missiles AFAIK. Edit: We haven't seen the interior of the cartridges yet, only the ammunition mechanism below, but it seems they can be opened. I bet they're detailed with ammo belts inside.

I had to quote this. I'm still not getting it. I really like the NES, but a tiny 1/27 model wont do for me. -
Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Maybe not. Those are old painted prototype shots. That means it's probably heavier than the production version and the figure's joints are probably not final either. It could balance itself well with the legs angled backwards a bit because of the odd center of gravity, but that's a design issue. -

Oooh, a shadow Mospeada with camera made by Beagle would be sick! I hope Beagles does well enough to give us that version at the end. We can still have one from MH or CMs tho'. -

I so love this pic. I'm going to display one of the ridearmors like this: Edit: Assuming they'll release the other variants, that is. -
The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it is possible. I got my shoulder assembly here in Mexico City. I'm not as far from the US, as you are, but I'm still in another country, so I don't think there's a problem. Ask them first, maybe they'll try to charge you something for the shipping, but I don't think so.- 1056 replies

Tytania. Coming October 2008!
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think danth was referring to the studios that hire mediocre artists that rely too much on their computer skills to make their work look passable. I do comic books and I've seen a lot of that myself. -
Finally a box in proportion with the toy.

Tytania. Coming October 2008!
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
New to this thread. I've just watched the trailer and I must say I'm with the skeptic crowd: There's nothing appealing to that trailer. I wasn't expecting any technical breakthroughs, but some good and original art, the kind of visuals you expect from veteran anime masters. Everything in that trailer is cliche: the ships, the characters, the backgrounds, the color palette, the noble ruler seated on his golden throne. It'd surprise me if the story was any good. -
Shhht! Draw the line at five, Yamato may be watching!
