Star Wars toys
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'd like to get three of them to make my dream Hoth diorama, tho' it's not as cool as I expected. Looks too much like the old one in detail and proportions tho' I dig the interior. I also expected it to have moving hips, but I guess that would put it above the $100 mark. As for the Luke Snowspeeder, I guess I'll buy just one since I'm sure they'll make Porkins' and the other versions eventually. Edit: What's that thing behind the head? Is it a non cannon gunner's station? BTW, is the Snowspeeder out yet? Is it some store's exclusive? The reason I ask is because my GF is going to the States in a few days and I want her to get one for me. -

I'm pretty curious about the "improved" Maia version myself. Post a review for us when you get it. -

I hear you. I've been dreaming for a Yamato take on this since I read the first reviews of CM's underwhelming efforts. -

I have a few mods for it in mind myself, but I'll have to wait until I have the toy in my hands to know if they're viable. As for the tail fins, since the first reviews of the Legioss, I'm under the impression that it's possible to carve a slot in the shoulder assembly, so the tail fin slides into it while connected to the Beta to conceal it (I kinda like the tail fins sticking out in Soldier mode). Maybe those who already own it could tell us if this is doable? -

Hah! Gilermo beat me to it. I just bought a set from this guy and was about to post the link for those interested. The auction is pretty hard to find for some reason. Anyway, I'm not "in the clear" financially speaking by any means, but I guessed this was too good to pass up: Regular blue sets are going for 350+ right now (of course you can check eBay later waiting for a better offer, 356 for a set is outrageous and I have the impression that all those auctions are all from the same seller). Besides, I don't own any of the CM's sets and I told myself if I ever try them it would be a blue with special parts. I'm also frustrated of not being able to play with my Toynamies without fear of have them crumble in my hands, (I already have a few minor breakages in some of them), so so far I'm very happy with my purchase. There's two more left, if someone else is interested. Edit: Thanks to Jenius to help me make up my mind about it. -
All this broken shoulders, fixed shoulders, improved crotch, mirrored canopy, non mirrored canopy stuff is giving me a headache. I'm kinda glad I haven't got any V.2's yet. I hope that by the time my finances improve, things have cleared up on these.

Even MORE remake madness.......
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I never quite bought that Hollywood ethic according to which, if yo have a problem, you only have to learn a new discipline in a few weeks or so, apply it successfully the first time, and then the problem is gone. As if the process of learning was something so painful that you must get over with as soon as possible. What about a movie about our typical lost teenager that embraces this discipline he/she decides he/she can be good at (kung-fu, Poetry, World of Warcraft, watever), enters a tournament and fails miserably, but at the end he/she decides that this is what he/she wants to do with his/her life so he/she gets up on his feet again and tries over and over again, getting better and better tru' the years? But Karate Kid is not a movie about learning, it's yet another Hollywood flick about who can piss further. It resorts to the old "bad guy bullies the defenseless guy (who of course we all relate to), so he learns a few new tricks to kick the bully's a$$ and succeeds so we can all go home with a warm feeling of vindication" formula. Not too different from a Charles Atlas ad, really. -

I'm waiting for your review to decide whether to get a CM's set or not. Not too impressed with the standard set, so if the Improved one is no real improvement (specially in the linkup area), I'll just don't bother with their Legios/TREADs. -

Hey Jenius, I'm interested on the improved linkup thingy. Did you had the time to fiddle with your set? Do the Legioss and TREAD connect better this time? -
Way to go, EXO! In your face, Yamato!

I hope is at least Perfect Transformation. -
If Yamato can't make the side covers and extendable seats a part of the design, I say leave the Valks alone. Everything else, like improved shoulders, hips and detailed head can be sold as a separate kit. This is from a guy that doesn't own a single V2 yet (but plans on getting them all eventually). I just think it'd be better if Yamato focuses on accessories for the Valks (such as diorama stuff) unless they can make really significant improvements on the existing toys.

The pics were there. They must have removed them for some reason (I hope it wasn't a legal one). Not much to see, actually. Just the face and a rough sculpt of the torso with a Revo joint on one shoulder. I wonder if somebody here grabbed those pics, but it looked like the figure was still a long way off. -

Right. I've forgot about that. Bummer. I really wanted to make that camp diorama with all my Megahouses. -

I'm still in hopes that MH makes a Houquet and Shinobu some day soon. After all there's no official word of the line being canceled as far as we know. -

You do realize that's exactly how you're supposed to pilot that particular Valk, right? (As cheesy and absurd as it may sound). -
Apocalyptic Robot Attack Movie
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Agreed. If anything this film will contribute to convince producers that giant robots suck at the box office (I enjoyed Sky Captain tho'). -

I was thinking the same thing. Aside from seeing a city other than New York or LA being destroyed, I don't see the originality in it. And if the movie does get greenlit, I'm pretty sure Montevideo won't be the center of the action. -
I hear ya. I'm still bummed I'll never get a 1/2000 SDF toy, but if I was filthy rich, I'd get one of these. Why not? As it is, even if I had the extra cash to buy it, I wouldn't for one stupid reason: there's no guarantee that Yamato (or some other company down the road) won't change their minds and say "Aw, f#ck it! The economy is strong again, we have the molds, let's mass produce the damn thing. I've heard there's a factory in China that has the equipment to do it for cheap".

Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'm pretty sure the only metal in it is in the inner frame. -
Judging from the guy in the first pic, and the ARMD pieces lying around, I'd say around 14 inches tall. Edit: I just noticed that the ARMDs are attached to the SDF-1 by magnets.
-
Those look like scaled down plastic pieces with less detail ALREADY.
-
Let's be fair: Most of the anger here comes from the fact that Yamato made us believe that a 1/2000 transformable Macross toy was within our budget (thus making some of us start saving their hard earned pennies), and then they went "Ups, sorry, we miscalculated. Turns out it'll be an ultra exclusive item for japanese yupies only".
-
So for all practical purposes the Yamato SDF-1 toy ended up being vaporware after all.
