  1. A few more shots with tamiya primer - had some difficulty staying on in some spots (this is the FD version) - may not have let it dry enough.
  2. I haven't really looked into pulling the leg apart - depending on the difficulty of pulling it apart, it is definitely a possibility. The face plate isn't interchangeable - the forks are set wider apart to allow the antennae to have support. You could chop it off I guess and glue it? What's causing the head to pop up is a few thing; 1- Is that its not secured/screwed into place and 2- looks to have the slightest of curves, which could be the result of the printing process - its not perfect, but its a snug fit.
  3. Well muchachos, here it is - my custom VF-4G (C?) head unit to make your VF-4; http://shpws.me/nhRH I purchased in WSF+P and UD, so i can mix and match - If i were you guys, I'd probably go for the UD, not sure on the fragility of FUD. Enjoy
  4. Totes - I can't stop looking at it - but it seems to me, that its a tad small for the body - but thats the proportions it has to be! Keep in mind I had to cut a small wedge out of the interior support piece that covers the forehead in fighter mode, pics soon - nothing too severe. Thanks dude! I wish I had a 3D scanner I made a slight mod to the interior, should be sweet now - you can find it for sale here; http://shpws.me/nhRH Enjoy my friends, and post pics! And pimp my wares
  5. Hey look what I got in the mail today; As u can see - it's almost a flush fit - I'm excited :3 Apologies for the terrible hone camera and lighting - more pics when I prime it and clean-up - enjoy!
  6. My phone camera no more work good. I am however getting a photographer friend of mine who wants to test his new macros lens coming around - so soon! Got shipment confirmation on the head units - should be here by early next week.
  7. I actually just got back from my local hobby shop looking to colour match - no luck. I compared it to my tamiya primer, its a shade off, its darker. I've seen tamiya primer in a light grey, maybe that'll match. The guy at the store said I could try Mr. surfacer. I myself am going to go with the slightly darker primer with metallic accents like in my renders, maybe it'll be a good contrast. I've already masked my canards/fins/v-stabs to paint in a dull metallic grey - and sprayed my wing's and v-stab's flaps white. Not sure if I should paint my main wing's leading edges metallic grey...
  8. Preordered on site at bbts. I have their 3 Insecticons and I love them - need more 'Cons to fill the ranks - just an added bonus they will combine! Super excited.
  9. OK, enough about the ramen. Besides, pork katsudon and chicken kara age is where its at.
  10. It is decided then. VF-11 Armour ftw. Even though I have the 1/72 kit for measurements, Graham's cryptic cock teases make me nervous about investing any time in any more VF-0 upgrades. Good thing I got the delta wings and related greebles done for the VF- 0C/D conversion. Keep an eye in the customisation thread in the coming weeks for news about the 11 armour. Over and out
  11. Want to... Want to what? WHAT?!?!!?! THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!
  12. Hahaha! Bad news, the alumide was rejected, oh well. As in the picture, the laser is supported on the bottom by the cup - there is also a near-identical support above, hidden in the cowl. It'll work by friction - any paint wearing should be hidden inside the cowl. The whole thing wont fit snug 100%, but it will be close. Fingers crossed!
  13. Pretty much hit the nail on the head there! Again, this is true. You are correct! I'd also consider doing custom requests if they're reasonable, relatively small projects and I see a market for them. Can you provide pics?
  14. I don't offer painting services just yet, seeing as you order from shapeways directly - the physical product never passes through my hands. Also, if you head to the VF-4 custom head unit thread, you can see renders of the final product which I just sent off to get printed.
  15. Thanks for the kind words guys! Just to let you all know - I ordered 3 heads in different materials; WSF +polished, polished alumide and frosted detail. Let's see how it goes! Xigfrid, I'd be open to the possibility of pre-painting - but it'd cost more, obviously. WSF + polished currently stands at approximately $15. Alumide is grey, but with specs of shinyness, I think anyway it goes, nothing can be printed to match exactly your yammies.
  16. Rogan-saaaaan - I just made this, it's not even printed yet, doesn't physically exist!!! As you can see in the break-up of parts, the head guns are attached to the head cowl, they'd be too small by themselves. Although, you should be able to use the 'face' of this on the original, not sure how close it'll fit, but it'd be close, I imagine. The eye piece is seperate so u can paint and gloss it up THEN glue it in. What plug part behind the face do u mean? I based the laser off the YF-21, but show me some good pics of the head laser, preferably from the side - I can see - but I'm pretty happy with this one. - - - - - - Please check out the finished shots and parts break-down below - currently uploading to shapeways and am toying with the idea of sending off a dozen or so to print; Laser articulation range; Parts break-down;
  17. Made the head guns bigger by 50% cause they were too small when I compared it to the original head at 1:1.
  18. Yeap - so much! Such a progenitor for many things in the Macross universe - off the top of my head; SV-51, YF-21, Birdman, VF-0S's face, the VF-171's face also to some extent. Wow that was a short list, lol.
  19. In case anyone is interested, I'm almost finished the sculpt for the 4G custom; Thread located here if this floats your boat; http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=38380&st=0&gopid=1017234entry1017234 I'll stop spamming this forum now
  20. Well, after triple checking my measurements after the face not looking right - I realized I could stretch it down a millimetre or two; You can see the original on the left and the stretched out on the right of each pic - big difference... Might not look like much of a difference at this same angle, but it'll make a hug difference when viewing it from other angles;
  21. Almost done! Just the greeble-ish type box underneath the main head - where the screw goes. Face has had to be squished to fit in the VERY limited space afforded to it. I wont make the small indents on the cheeks - won't show up on the print I think. Enjoy!
  22. Micro update - upper visor cover and sideburn intakes + underside of helm done!
