My girlfriend always says this, too. Anyway, I'd pay good money for that 1/48 VF-0. The shear size of such a display piece alone makes me want one.
-
Have you ever noticed, when you click on the Macross World logo, the words "Shawn and Graham's?" Hmmmm. . . seems to me that when you set up "DrClay's Macross World," you can do what you want. Until then, either read Graham's news threads, or not. To put it in your terms, "WTF DOES IT MATTER TO ME?"
-
How about we tell you to take your complaining to PM already? Seriously dude, get off the cross. Someone else needs the wood. LMAO!
-
I think you're doing the math right, but what do I know, I'm in law school right now.
-
LOL! Sorry, I read someone else's post, commenting on the "whining" in this thread, and I remembered a Beavis and Butthead episode where Beavis is complaining about numbers; your scale references reminded me of it (the math and stuff!).
-
Oh, wait! I didn't complain about anything in this thread, yet. /Beavis/ I'm mad at like numbers and stuff. huhuhuhuhuh. . . yeah /Beavis/
-
I think the reason I don't really like it is because I could see myself digging in my excess model parts bin, sticking stuff on a fast pack valkyrie and coming up with something similar looking.
-
Not to knock anybody's creativity/hard work, but I don't know about that "Stampede."
-
Mine is the 1/55 VF-1S; it was a childhood dream to have one. It was about a month ago that I walked into a collector store and saw one in the display case. I bought it; it's just too bad that I'm thirty years old now! Better late than never! I guess I like my 1/48 Yamato VF-1S Hikaru, too.
-
The Toynami version looks pretty good, and it's a good price. It looks to be a lot more posable than the Bandai, but how fragile are they?
-
LOL! Damn, and I just signed an agreement to give up my first born child for money to buy more Macross stuff just so I could be a "fan."
-
If you're comparing the 1/55 Bandai to the 1/60 Yamato, the other thing to consider is that the Bandai has "perfect transformation" (the legs don't come off). If you want to constantly handle/play with the thing and let others, too, then I'd suggest going with the Bandai. If you like the fast packs, get the Bandai VF-1S and find a deal on the CF (the tan one) and buy it and just put the fast packs on the one you want. Basically, you get two pieces for roughly the price of a 1/48; you can afford two valkyries on a student's budget - it's called Ramen noodles!
-
Nicely done!
-
What? I just sold a kidney to buy everything on that long list somebody posted, just so I could be a "fan." Now you're saying I can just buy (or not buy) whatever I want. Next you'll be telling people that they can like Macross for whatever reason they choose without being able to logically explain/justify to others why.
-
Costs a lot to be a "fan." Anyone know of a Macross country club to join?
-
My 1/48 just doesn't seem to "look right" compared to my 1/55s. As a toy, I still favor my 1/55s. *insert crowd gasps here*

Second-gen RX-7s are one of my favorites.

Drop a hint to Monster Garage. They may take up that challenge. http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/monsterg...de/episode.html I'd rather have the OCC boys make me a Macross theme bike. American Chopper rocks!!! Oh! They did do that airplane bike, with the bullets on the frame! A valkyrie scheme would rock! My humble suggestion would be an exhaust pipe/muffler in the shape of a valkyrie gun pod with "UN Spacy" on it.
-
I respectfully disagree. I don't regret getting my VF-1S 1/48; however, I think that some are going to find it a bit too fragile for their tastes. The detailing is far superior to the 1/55s, but as far as playability/durability, the Yamato 1/48s are not for everyone. I guess the best thing is to get at least one 1/55 and one 1/48, since the urge to buy one of each is simply overwhelming (especially if you're on MW often!). Both are enjoyable in their own way to a collector.
-
it;s under the paper/ carboard box that holds the valkyrie. in between it and the outside cover. your stickersheets etc are there too ali Yeah, I just got my 1/48 Hikaru VF-1S, and I didn't see the directions on the bottom of the box at first. LOL! By studying the thing, I didn'nt need the instructions to figure out most of the transformation; I just used the instructions to make sure that I didn't force parts to move in a way that they shouldn't. Life is so much easier with the Bandai 1/55s.

How does the antenna cause stress on the hinge? If one were to eliminate the bump on part BP7, would the flip out tab (part BP4) adequately hold the backpack in the correct position?
-
Has anyone tried filing or sanding a little off of the bump (part BP7) on the backpack hinge? I just took my VF-1S out of the box and don't want to be posting in the "what's wrong with my Yamato" thread, if you know what I mean. It seems like this hump puts a lot of stress on the hinge, so is it a good idea to take some material off of the bump?

Sorry to hear about your loss. What I would do is box what is left up, gift wrap it, and give it to the kid, on his next B-day! He'll always remember what he did, and when he's grown up enough and asking for a car, just point to the busted valkyrie and shake your head. Call this a guilt coupon.
-
LOL! Sounds like the hobby store guy was annoyed that you weren't asking about model trains; it seems that most of them only want to talk trains or R/C. BTW, welcome. I bet there is somebody on here that makes their own stands, specifically for their own valkyries and would sell them to you.
