Wait until this member gets to the part where one has to break the fuselage (a.k.a. "neck") to transform it! At that point, he might even want to threaten Graham.
TheLoneWolf and capt mojacko saw it, too (at least over at Macrossnexus).
The whole point of me making a thread about this was to hopefully find the person responsible and get more details -- especially details regarding duplicates.
No reply. Unless the original Macrossnexus thread creator has anything, I think we're done here. How long did the progress pic last here -- about a minute? I feel like one of those people who saw a flying saucer.
There is hope, if the person who posted the Flickr pic replies to email. Hopefully, this individual will post up here with pics (and a spatula to scrape the egg off my face).
The pic I posted (which didn't last long) was of a 1/48 scale VF-1S Max custom with almost complete Thunder Hummer armor parts in primer. This person got a little further than you did. Maybe you can get back to work and post some pics in this thread.
When I started this thread, I swear there was a work-in-progress picture; it was also on Macrossnexus. What I can't wrap my simple mind around is why the bloody hell someone would post a picture of their custom project on the internet, then pull it down when fans of the work want to view it. Pardon me while I go and smack my head against the wall.
Is XStoys in Hong Kong? The reason I ask is that the two pictures accompanying this in the original link sent to me are of a vehicle with Hong Kong license plates.
I'm not good at the internet. Also, in my defense, someone else found this and sent me a link via PM on Macrossnexus, but by the time I was able to post up, here, the picture was gone.
Navy blue is too dark if you want to stay faithful to the referenced magazine picture. You don't actually have to use the flat aircraft paints. I'm sure there are a few Tamiya brand non-aircraft blues that will get you close; just use a flat (or dull coat) over the project as a final step to keep your project from being too glossy or "toy like."
If you're using Yamato's supplied stickers, the best tip I have for anyone is to trim the edges down as close to the pattern as possible. Also, Takatoys has a variety of good looking stickers available for 1/60 and 1/48 scale Yamato toys.
