Grab all the Yamato valks you can get your hands on before stocks permanently dry out and scalpers raising the prices even more!

oops, posted in the wrong Arcadia thread. LOL

I ended up getting a VF-17D w/super packs from AmiAmi as they had the cheapest prices (23% off, roughly $260CAD). Stock seems to be wavering there, sometimes sold out, sometimes in stock. Now it says backordered, but you can still try your luck and put an order in. VF-17D for that low-vis look, screw canon.

It's at http://biginjap.com/pvc-figures/6585-macross-30th-anniversary-lynn-minmay-sq-figure-cosplay-ver.html But it wouldn't do you any good, unfortunate, that one was soldout before HLJ even listed theirs for sale. Maybe wait and see if Nippon Yasan will sell her, I'm sure they will, but it's a little odd they haven't listed her yet.

Because the VF-4G was made to order (Yamato Online Shop exclusive), so all you had to do was get your order in before the pre-order deadline. The usual online retailers should have these 171CF in stock (very small window, if you're able to catch it) when they receive shipment on release date. At least, that's been the trend with the VF-25 renewals and 171EX releases previously.

So I finally got around to transforming this thing, thought it this was really easy to transform and all the parts snap into place, Jenius' video on the transformation definitely helped too - thanks! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/smile.png Didn't have any problems with pushing down on the cockpit, but sadly my VF-4 came with a pre-damaged chin (as someone mentioned earlier in this thread). There's a nick in the faceplate, which makes the VF-4 looks like it has a mouth. LOL That sharp chin does seem to get crushed easily if you push the head down too hard. I think I'll replace this head with Kurisama's custom 4G head if he gets that produced. Took some quick shots with the iPhone, I think I'll sticker/decal it up and do some panel before taking some better shots. I noticed that the leg fin/stabilizer is able to be folded when you transform it into battloid mode, and I think it looks better this way. Even though that may not be canon? Just thought this was interesting and don't think anyone's mentioned it in this thread yet.

That's interesting, I have my third set shipping from HLJ recently from the Private warehouse. I wonder if it'll have the dark blue since this was from the December re-release batch. Anyone got pics of what it looks like, particularly with a Cavalier?

Ended up picking up a 17D w/super packs from AmiAmi. Curse this thread and the tempting pics, knew I should've stayed away. *sigh* I have no will power. LOL Can't afford the thing right now, but didn't want to take my chances and pay for one later on at scalper prices. Who knows if Yamato would re-release this in the future. Definitely wouldn't mind a Milia 17S later on though.

Off topic, but I just picked up the MP-13 Soundwave for nostalgic factors. Guess the VF-17 will have to wait.

Just shipped a VF-25G v2 from Canada to the US via expedited, cost was almost $30 via CPC/USPS. So I don't think the shipping prices from NY, HLJ, AmiAmi are all that bad considering they're half way around the world.

I used to order from HobbyFan all the time for figures. They're legit, though sometimes slow and may have stock fulfilment issues if they can't get items from their suppliers. Wouldn't hurt to order from them but don't be surprised if they turn around later and say they have to cancel due to supply shortage from supplier. They pull through majority of the times though with exclusives (from Hobby Japan, for example). That said, I'm really surprised they listed the 171 CF for sale.

Yup, I think the light blue stripes look better on the D than the yellow. The yellow stripe sort of contradicts the "stealth" look the Diamond Force VF-17 was going for. lol Still, I think I was leaning towards the 17S because of the head and that it's something different. But if that's the case, maybe I'll just wait for the Milia version (if that comes out). As I've said, the 17D's head is similar to the 171. You're right too in that it depends on what I'll be displaying the valk predominately in. Gaah, tough call.

No words to describe that SDF-1, pictures says it all. So jealous!! ' -
Debating whether I should get a VF-17, can't say I'm a huge fan of it (thus I never jumped on it, nor the huge HLJ sale during the holidays), but the collector in me still want to get at least one (VF-171 lineage). LOL Which one would you guys recommend, the 17S or 17D? I was thinking of the 17S since it's a little more unique (different head) - the 17D's head is a bit similar to the 171's head. Then again, there may be a Milia release in the future so I wouldn't feel the urge to complete the Diamond force wing/squadron/whatever. Thoughts / suggestions?

HLJ was probably singled out because their customer service replied they had limited their quantity to 10 per customer, whereas the other sites limited it to 1-3 per customer. NY's initial pre-order was listed at retail pricing, when that batch was filled, the started increasing their price due to demand. I think they've increased their pre-order price 2-3 times since the initial pre-order window. Supply and demand... but at least they still offered many people the chance to get a pre-order in when all the other online retailers closed their pre-orders. And the price increase isn't as bad as what's being listed on sites such as eBay and Amazon. NY seems to have become the failsafe site when we can't get our orders through the usual online retailers. lol
-
That's partly true, the VF-4G was an online exclusive from Yamato's online shop and basically made to order. So as long as you get your pre-order in before the deadline you're set. As for this HLJ pro scalper thing, can't say i'm on board either, we just don't know who bought it and at what quantity. Didn't someone in the 171 CF thread said they tried ordering more than 4 but at checkout it automatically changed his quantity to 4? It's funny that the HLJ reply indicated they realize it's a hot item and they sell out fast then goes to contradict it by saying they limited it to 10 per person. It could be that the service rep may be just replying with a general "cut and paste" answer and didn't pay attention to what was written. For all we know, all this "raging" may be based off an incorrect customer service reply.

Thanks! Looks like the ones I was referring to are the MDE warheads/missiles, didn't realize they were considered "reaction missiles" as well. Thought I remembered seeing the cannon fodder 171 had equipped these somewhere in the show/movies - but maybe it was only the 171EX that had them? Some classic reaction missiles would be nice too.

It'd be nice if the super parts for the 171 came with those huge warheads from the show/movie. Can't think right now, don't recall what they were called, looked like nukes. LOL

At Nippon Yasan? Doesn't seem so.
