Gundam - Where's A Good Place To Start?
Hoptimus replied to Vermillion21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Its funny but 2 different anime boards I go to have had this topic up. I had to watch Gundam 0079 Movie 1 yesterday. I will watch the other 2 this week. The DVD is soo good. The 5.1 mix really adds alot to this old film. -
I liked the first CG movie alot but man...some of the animation was bad. Mostly in the slower dialogue scenes. They looked like anime versions of the Team America puppets moving. The action scenes though were dynamite. I hope they smooth this out for the second one.

Gundam - Where's A Good Place To Start?
Hoptimus replied to Vermillion21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Gundam 0079 Movie Trilogy. For a few reasons. 1.) Its the begining of everything Gundam 2.) It tells the same story as the TV series but it cuts the fat and the mecha villian of the week crap. 3.) It more closley follows the story Tomino wrote in his novels where the focus is on the charicters, the evolution of newtypes and the passions of humans that cause war. Then watch Zeta Gundam,Chars Counter Attack. That will seal up Tomino's original vision. -
LOL. Man I quote it all the time and only a scant few know the quotes.

Damn that Bumblebee lots great. He was my 2nd tf after Prime back in 84 so he has a special place in my heart. -
I am surprised you guys cant see my boner from where you are. I have been waiting for this for a long time.

Already covered in the TF master thread pinned up top.

Kens technique attacked critical Nerve and pressure points. When hit hit them with a precise attack it causes that explosive power. I think when VIZ first brought the manga here in 88? or so there was a nice explanation in one of the issues. I really didnt like this new Hokuto No Ken DVD. It was just weird.

Damn that HOT ROD looks sweet!!! -
Bought this over the weekend and just watched it with some friends last night. Holy crap. That was awesome. When is the next one out? I mean they totally leave you hanging lol. Did anyone else play Phantom Dust on the Xbox? The design of the charicters and the spirit world in Karas remind me alot of that game.

Question About Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix
Hoptimus replied to zeus the zentran's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Its like that with all popular mediums. Would we have Superhero comics as we know them today without Jack Kirby? Probably not but the kids dont care. They all want Michael Turner... -

Bummer for them. I use to play TMNT and Robotech back in the day every weekend, Heros Unlimited was fun also. RIFTS came out and my friends really got into that one but by that time I was more into my music and girls so I never really played it. Well I hope that if they do pull out of this they rethink their buisiness stratigey.

Oh man. Season 2 and 3 of BeastWars are awesome. Great storyline that cements it with G1. Simon Furman even writes a few episodes!! -
Don't forget that the store front that the kid is working on is called Schumaker. Mad Love was good but I think my favorite was Over the Edge. The story is great and the animation is amazing. It seems that a lot of my favorite episodes had Japanese directors. 390737[/snapback] The episodes that were directed by the Japanese directors also had the luxury of being animated by TMS in Japan. The other episodes at the time were done by Koko in Korea. Good but not as crisp or fluid as TMS.

I have all 4 sets of Batman. Sets 1-2 of Superman, Batman Beyond S1 and Justice League S1. I am a huge fan of the DCAU because it was done well. Set 4 of Batman I think is my favorite. You get Mad Love,Beware the Creeper and Legends of the Dark Knight.
