The computer and electronics super geek thread

My current mobo is my first ASUS, and likely my last. It sure doesn't seem to like detecting SSD's, and/or re-assigning SATA ports randomly. -
Just got back. "Good but not great". Liked Wreck-It Ralph much more, and despite being "just like every other movie that summer", liked Big Hero 6 a bit more. zootopia is all message, not much plot, if that makes sense. Frozen and Wreck-It-Ralph are still the best 2 animated Disney movies of the past couple years.

I'd much rather see major characters from later seasons, than completely fill out the '84 season. It's already Bot-heavy enough. We need more 'Cons.- 16674 replies

Generally, "Imperial" scales are aircraft. "Metric" are ships and tanks. Cars are both, with the ever-confusing 1/24 and 1/25 being among the most popular. Note: A good number of older Japanese kits are "metric" versions of "imperial" scales. 1/72 F8 Crusader seems a bit off? Because it's really 1/70. You'll also find 1/100 for 1/96, and 1/150 for 1/144. IIRC, a lot of Japanese N-scale trains are 1/150 instead of the proper 1/160.

Fix the shield/leg interaction/fit in fighter mode. And the huge gap at the trailing edge of the wing root. Far more important than new accessories IMHO. (Angling the canards up a bit would be nice too). Those three things are really what's stopping me from selling my Arcadia to get a Bandai.

No, they've been seen on the upper surface as well. They're pods or drones or something.

The full, rarely heard* version of the Gummy Bears song: *which is a shame, because the 2nd, more instrumental half is even better.

Captain America: Civil War, on Bluray Sept 13, 2016
David Hingtgen replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Eh, very first second I saw it all I could think was "blatantly CGI Spidey holding blatantly CGI shield". Is it just something about his design that makes CG versions of him stand out so much more? Why are other CG superhero doubles less obvious?- 445 replies

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
David Hingtgen replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In addition to crabbing, B-52's have such an extreme wing incidence, that they can fly level, while nose-down. Even climb like that I think, if light. -

Lack of painted "lights" is really starting to irk me on MP's. Sideswipe is missing 6 of his---molded but unpainted. (And two are basically impossible to access to paint yourself) Prowl/Streak missing the front fender ones---molded but unpainted. Tracks is missing 4, all the corner ones--again, molded but unpainted. Sure, ALL BLUE is toon-accurate, but they don't seem to have a problem giving Prime lights that were never visible on-screen. (Also annoyed that Reprolabels' set for Tracks has none of the missing lights----their taillight etc stickers are often a main reason I buy the set----their tail lights for Bluestreak look SO much better than the matte pastel paint Takara used)- 16674 replies

Macross Δ (Delta) Mecha/Technology Thread - READ 1st POST
David Hingtgen replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I like the eyes/visor of Delta 2. Have since the preview episode. It's the neatest head design IMHO, but I know from posts here that some think it's the worst of them. Delta 4's is kinda VF-1J/S-ish. Nothing really unique, but certainly not bad. Just looks like you'd expect a valk head to look like. -

Go look at Takara's UW Dragstrip. Takara does not care about "looks/style" when it comes to coloring. They are purely toon-accurate nowadays, no matter how bad it looks in real-life/plastic. That means PURE YELLOW Dragstrip, no stripes on Deadend, cream-yellow thighs on Silverbolt, and clown-lips-red bumper on Magnus.- 16674 replies

Hmmmn. The only name that immediately strikes me as an obvious aviation-themed homage is Heinz, almost certainly after Heinz Bär. Herman, if we add another N, could be Göring. But I don't think anybody would want to name a character after him, regardless of his piloting skills. -

Am I nuts or does Delta 2 have way thicker/wider forearms than Delta 5? I don't think it's just the angle/lighting. ::edit:: OK, it's Delta 5 that's the weird one---it has skinny forearms, compared to all the other VF-31's. -

Aircraft means means nothing, it's the seats/airline. Comfiest flight ever? Delta 767. Worst seats ever? United 767. -
That was my guess, but there's always a few who want the original version of something.

That was my guess. I like those versions more, they seem less derivative of "everything else".

My fave is Blue lion. When you get around to it, would you be willing to post step-by-step pics? I may be able to "follow along" with my parts. Though I'll need more silver-grey "tooth" parts for the claws for sure. Any "rare/uncommon" parts that are needed? I see a lot of tiles I think.
