  1. UW Computron's colors are much better than I thought they'd be. I almost think they went semi-toy-inspired for the colors, but the pattern is animation. No idea where red Afterburner came from though, he's pure orange in both toy and toon form.
  2. Nah, Zero has way more "magic" as in different types from different sources. (Always totally unexplained) This became apparent in later viewings. M7 just has "anima spiritia". Seto--/those are valid points, I'll have to research/think more about valks and G's.
  3. Whoa whoa whoa/---an entire episode of Macross 7 Plus was focused on Gamlin's G-training and how strenuous it was----and that was in a VF-11. And I'm pretty sure I recall Alto getting thrown around in the cockpit during hard maneuvers in his -25. So I doubt that the -31 could just magically completely eliminate G-forces. Especially for people outside the cockpit.
  4. I believe it's all white paint everywhere. Body, headlights, wheels.
  5. And raw amount of merchandise----Mirage wouldn't have her own figure etc coming already if she was "just" a pilot. She's got more stuff than most of the idols.
  6. Erm, they all came molded in multiple colors. Sure, you needed paint/decals/stickers to finish them, but Michael's was blue and Luca's was green and they all had grey "internal" bits and a few colored accent bits.
  7. You have noticed Leozack is hanging around with Tarn in the last few issues, right? I don't know the other team members well enough to notice if any IDW versions of them have shown up as well.
  8. Machida punch! (Yes, punch is now part of his name)
  9. Then all you need to do is wait, as Ryu-Oh looks pretty good---I just have zero interest in that version, and didn't like Monstructor enough to pay $$$$ for a 3P version.
  10. Monstructor is effectively like 80% done already. FP is almost done with Dinoking, who was just a repaint of Monstructor with a new head. They just did the repaint first as its more popular in Japan. Note that the pretender shells are utterly insanely expensive and separate. Odds are good they won't even make the shells for the Monstructor version.
  11. Quantron has a sucky torso-bot (in all modes) which basically kills the team for me. But Warbotron's is worse in almost every way. I plan to just wait for a better one.
  12. That does look like an awfully small tab for that critical an area, with that much weight. Considering the audience and design goals, it's even more baffling.
  13. I certainly hope/believe that that is of course, literal "placeholder stick-gear". But I will not be shocked if the final mold looks like that. As for practicality---I do wonder about the gear bay doors being that large and that close to the fuselage---they certainly couldn't do a carrier landing, the gear struts only seem to have about 1" of movement to be able to compress, before the gear door/kneecap would slam up into the shin. Plus, retracting the gear--would pull the gear doors into "massive airbrake position" right when you're trying to accelerate. Now, that's not unprecedented---the F-111 does it, as does, erm, uh, some Russian plane I can't think of right now... But I've never thought it was a smart way to do gear doors.
  14. I just realized what the main gear reminds me of---the YF-23's. Just the "bent backwards" shape etc. And the YF-23's gear is itself, modified F-18 gear. (basically removing the largest secondary strut). (yes, this is a real YF-23, it just looks "fakey" because this pic was taken just after refurbishment---fresh paint on the stealthiest fighter airframe ever made means it's SMOOOOTH)
  15. The toys have a lot more variation. Both in the team's total number of colors, and number of colors per bot. Scattershot alone makes toy-colors superior. Gorgeous shades of red and maroon and burgundy.Toon Computron is boring and blandly colored, but the individual toon Technobots are even worse.
  16. Didn't AmazonJP just change their rules about shipping CD's/DVD's to the US?
  17. There's been no exceptions to the pattern yet for the combiners----Hasbro is toy-colored, Takara is toon-colored.
  18. It's a rule---the simpler the transformation, the more likely it is to get wrong.
  19. I want toy-colors on the UW molds. Sadly, that has about 0.1% chance of happening. Anyways: I wonder if she'll have the same voice actor as RiD Windblade. (from reading the comics, I get the sense that RiD Windblade and IDW Windblade, while looking a lot a like, are actually quite different people)
  20. I'm betting few people spend as much time deciding where to put, and as much money in buying different variations, as I do for 3P insignia. That said---if you just need Autobot logos, Reprolabels should have everything you could want. Clear-backed, white-backed, white outlines, chrome outlines, silver-backed, chrome-backed, and gold-backed. Now, there are the dry-transfer and metal ones from Eness/Ocean, but they will not "float" at all--as in, if there's any sort of groove/detail where the insignia goes, they will not cope with it at all--they need a perfectly smooth even surface to go on. But they do look "painted on" when applied, they have practically no thickness to them and are more crisply printed than Reprolabels'.
  21. Thing is, this makes the triangle have an uber-obvious "right" answer from the beginning. (hint: it's the hot alien chick who's also a fighter pilot). Max was/is always right. Whereas with Frontier, it flip-flopped for a while, and both characters had similar roles---established pop idol vs up-and-coming pop idol. First it was all "Ranka's cute, and Sheryl's a stuck-up bitch". But by the end, it was "Sheryl's much deeper and tougher than we first though, yet Ranka somehow gets dumber with each new experience".
