Well aware of that, but anything was better than the GREEN it was originally. ::clicks on the next couple pics:: Oh, yeah, NOW they realize what color Flanker cockpits are... (boy, for only one having ever been built, they sure are releasing a lot of different Su-37 kits...)

Whoops, I didn't see that was for the original MSRP, I thought that was a "just spotted" price.

I'm thinking that akin to the replacement hip guns of the -25, the -31's super parts will come with replacement tailfins----permanently folded over for strength,(and maybe permanently attached to the boosters) and so the "naked" -31 can have single-pice fins.

Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 6 - READ 1st POST

I still think she got it from the destroyed VF-31A, off-screen. It literally appears out of nowhere from one scene to the next. PS---Lady M? I currently vote Mylene. Who else who would have the interest/pull to create "Sound Force 2.0"? (and have an M-name) -

01 has a lot of extra color accents that none of the others do. (basically, all the red bits). It's a "3rd layer" of paint that none of the others have, that replaces a section that is not differentiated in the others. That shield bit is just another example, and follows the rest of 01's paint pattern.

Sure those aren't V1's at those prices?

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
David Hingtgen replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The shoulders are in L (or is it a U?) shaped tracks---the transformation is more complex than most people realize. (the extreme stiffness of the sliding motion doesn't help, plus the shoulder must be rotated properly before it'll slide) They move front/back, not just up/down. Arm, Tiger, and Robot mode should all have differently-positioned shoulders. This is most obvious in tiger mode--he can look much more feline/stalking-esque with the arms in their proper alignment. (Arm mode you have to "do it right" or it won't peg together, and robot mode works in multiple positions)- 9146 replies

The VF-31A did exactly that.

24 hrs, unspoiled posts. And accidentally deleted one in doing so. So here's the new version: Super VF-31A.

Hard to edit/spellcheck/clarify thoughts when working around spoiler tags everywhere... (plus I hit send before my brain had caught up with what I was thinking) -

Graham: 1. Yes to the second part, doesn't look like it for the first. Even more so than in Frontier. 2. Replacement. 3. (I know you only asked 2). The because the OK, I think I know what happened at the end (or at least it's a logical explanation): I practically frame-by-framed, and we don't see it happen, because it just appears out of nowhere. But it makes sense. -
Didn't realize the finer details of the markings and attachment points of super parts for a valk were considered plot spoilers.

Mirage, you're doing it wrong... -
OK, best view of the underside of fighter mode comes courtesy of Chuck: (who also introduces something I think is new---arms-only GERWALK) At least as many parts as VF-25 Supers have, possibly surpassing it? With this much "stuff" already, what will full armor look like? (the -31 is so skinny, it can surely accomodate it)

Story behind that---the F-104's intake design was very advanced/unique for the time, and there were no good images of it for quite a while (intentionally). But an artist who did an "artist's impression" for a Japanese magazine turned out to be spot-on, and for a while it was suspected there was either a spy or someone leaked the design. But no, he just had a really good guess, long before the actual specifics were publically known.

THAT's gonna be a problem on a DX---look how the tailfin folds to accomodate the booster---it doesn't fold over at the base, it folds over part-way up: Looking----does the booster actually attach to the "stub" of the tailfin? It seems directly lined up with it. Here you can see the 'classic' method of "one click down at GERWALK joint, one click back up at knee" to reposition the legs: There's some sort of fine script on the shoulder bits, can see here on Mirage's: (also looks like it says Aether at the front of the booster) Coloring notes---band of color at rear of boosters, just ahead of nozzles. Otherwise the boosters seem 'generic' with almost all the color-matching being on the shoulder-pad bits surrounding the canards:

Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 6 - READ 1st POST
David Hingtgen replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I almost never watch raws (maybe twice during all of Frontier), but this seemed to be a heavily talked about ep, so I did this time. Pretty much fast-forwarded through the dialogue scenes (can't get TOO much out of them) but the mecha scenes are fairly self-explanatory. -
I have no idea if the "unfolding" will translate well to a toy. Sure, it's not THAT complicated and I think it could work---my worry is about it working WELL. I imagine a bunch of skewed lop-sided-looking bits when deployed. It may actually be better to simply have part-swapping "stowed" and "deployed" versions. (though that would eliminate all the "fun" of that set). And yes---when they go up for pre-order as their inevitable Tamashii exclusives---buy them for every VF-31 you think you may someday own. I'd order Mirage's right now if I could. It'll be much cheaper than trying to get them later, and if you never end up getting the valk they go to---you can certainly sell them for a tidy profit by that time. I hate to think what my Alto Super and Armor sets would have cost, had I waited to buy them until after I finally got an Alto -25...

Wonder if the USAF could buy some F-16 Block 60's... Though, the Super Duper Hornet does look better with its CFT's than the Block 60 does, for sure: -
The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
David Hingtgen replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, I just snapped the hinge of my MP Wheeljack's left wing. He just did NOT want to transform today. Couldn't figure out what was wrong, even got the instructions out (I just transformed him a few weeks ago, it's not like it's been a year or something and I forgot). Looking closely, I think that one is mis-molded or something. Also, it's impossible to remove the pin to attempt a true repair. I'm going to sand a lot, then Future a lot, and hope it's workable.- 16711 replies

The clear parts are TOO clear. They need more pink tinge.
