    Honestly, I haven't gotten any new valks in months, so don't really need any more stands. But when the -262/31 come out, there'll likely be increased demand.

    Re: add-ons: I like the -29's "inner" booster engines a lot. Do not like the wing extensions of the -29 nor the -31's "anything", really.

    Does the nosecone lock into fighter and battroid positions? Or does it swivel freely?

    By far the biggest thing, which alone "seals the deal" for superior fighter mode: The renewals's legs actually sit up where they're supposed to, with the nacelles ABOVE the wing-line. Even if you force the kit's legs up and glue them in place--they are still far too low and sunken in.

    This. They took the -31F/J, and made new wing tips---but said new wingtips are simple and lacking in detail. Very few panel lines, and missing the hard points. And everything else is following that reference religiously, even with its obvious simplification/omissions.

    The 1/72 is better than the v1, but the renewal beats even the 1/72 for fighter mode proportions. And at least ties it for battroid.

    There is no Hase -23 kit, and -23 kits are rare nowadays in 1/72 but I still think it's the best option looks-wise. That said, the -23 itself used modified -18 gear for the mains (it used -15 for the nose) and -18 kits are very cheap if you buy older releases with lower-quality decals.

    I don't think it'd work with an actual nose gear inside. I think it's ONLY feasible because on the kit, you physically remove the gear entirely, it doesn't retract inside. The nose wheels alone I think would negate the possibility of having them fold in, then having the gear swing past them. The gear strut fits between them, inserted from below, from outside. But you couldn't swing the gear down past them from within, if it was actually inside the wheel well at any point.

    What's so bad? Everything. And they are THAT bad. Even without the existence of the renewals they'd be a POS. IMHO.

    Even if civilians CAN get old VF-1's, still doesn't mean they're common or easy to obtain. Old fighter jets (MiG-17, F-86, etc) are around, owned by civilians--many of whom are ex-military pilots. But there will still be the F-15/F-22 demo pilot at that same airshow, offering LOADS of cash for the chance to fly one, just once, just for a minute. (and the amount they'll offer for a P-51 or F4U.....they're practically giving away the keys to their Vettes) Legendary planes, will always be legendary planes.

    Alto's VF-25 was 007, but he was Skull Four. 004 was Luca's, and I think he's Skull Three. Modex number and call sign usually don't match. (Delta is the first time we've had more than 1 match).

    Look closer. The parts are molded using slide-molds. That always takes more space. (At least the pink and white sprues are) (It's still excessive, just not QUITE as bad as it looks)

    That's an insane amount of decals/stickers needed to look even close to right. I may buy a -31A kit, because it has a much simper scheme, but there's no way I'd buy a "colorful" -31 with that parts/color arrangement. I really think they split up the parts poorly. Inner wings solid color, outer wings solid white? Surely they could have done front/back instead? Many a Gundam kit has MUCH finer color-separataion. I don't expect all the fine striping of course, but this isn't even close.

    I fixed your MADLAW review. Don't know what happened exactly---the links and pics were still there, I basically just shuffled back and forth between regular and full editor until things started working again.

    I almost wonder if Bandai had some input into how the -31 super parts were to be colored---they are so reminiscent of how the -25's are, where they're 90% all the same with just a few bits actually being color-coded (excluding Michael's). Makes it very easy for them as a company---one small sticker sheet can cover every variation, and/or one small sprue of just a few pieces needs to be molded in its own color.

    He's only 10 but knows/uses the term "cannon fodder"? I'm going to assume you have a brownie VF-1A and frequently refer to it as such.

    Has Experten's render been posted yet? Hopefully it'll be cheaper than their 1/72 variable kits!

    Yup, their Snapdragon so far looks better (though less intricate) than their Apeface. I personally hope their Apeface is undergoing a massive redesign during all this time. I (and many others) did not like the ape mode. (because it was way more oozaru-troll, than ape)
