Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
David Hingtgen replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
Hmmn. I just barely started scoring, after thinking about the drill method. Abandoned it, but may re-try, now that I hear drilling works. -
New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
David Hingtgen replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Me too. Presumably it was green-lighted due to Delta making a lot of money. Which means the big-wigs probably looked and saw "more idols than ever=bigger sales=make the next series even LESS about pilots/valks/space exploration" -

Swirly plastic, is, as a rule, not heating it hot enough, and/or not enough pressure to truly mix it while liquid and injecting from multiple points into the cavity. The technical term is "flow marks". But it seems to have affected J4ZZ's feet pretty bad. I don't know many companies that can do metallic silver plastic without getting noticeable flow marks---even Bandai gets it wrong sometimes.- 9325 replies

What if macross delta had movies ?

1. Mirage 2. Battroid mode 3. A new super pack, or at least a new weapons pod to replace the standard "gun+transmitter" combo. -
Yup, about 48 hours after my private warehouse shipment deadline passes, Mirage is released. Sigh.

And I think it'll achieve that by having a lot more parts-forming and combiner-only kibble.- 9325 replies

Well, I'll give you points for "pilot". (I like trains almost as much as I like planes, and many years I'll have spent more on trains than on TF's) Also, I've never been able to pinpoint what exactly, but something about that toy's eccentric rod has always bugged the heck out of me. (Besides the entire motion being flat/printed/cartoony). ::edit::. Think I got it. It's actually the main rod/piston. It's WAY above the drive axles. It couldn't actually drive the wheels, it'd have severely asymmetric thrusts.- 9325 replies

That is not technically a train as there is no rolling stock. That's not a train car, it's the locomotive's tender. A locomotive by itself (the tender is considered part of it), is not a train.- 9325 replies

Buy armor/super parts now, valks later, if you're pressed for cash. Valks get re-released, and used ones come up for sale regularly. But the extra stuff? You get one chance at them. I bought both the armor and super parts for my Alto, before I managed to get an Alto. Had to wait a bit, but Alto's -25 was eventually re-released, twice. His -29 has at least one re-release. But any of his parts packs? Just the once.
-
Plastruct makes a cement just for ABS. But in my experience it only sorta works on Yamato plastic. But most cements don't work at all, so...

And Alto was skull four, but flew 007.

They referenced the wrong type of Countach for MP Sideswipe, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got "not quite the right car" for Jazz.- 9325 replies

Titan Masters are tiny but they still deserve/need some paint. I swear the heads are molded so as to make capillary action fight you, but I'm fairly pleased with what I've got so far:- 17327 replies

So we got a good look at Thrawn's ship: http://img.lum.dolimg.com/v1/images/reb_ca_2032_4d4e210d.jpeg (not embedded just in case people consider it a spoiler) Is it the Chimaera? I thought it looked more like simply "twisting serpents" in the episode, and maybe even Ysalamiri. But now having the actual artwork to see---I'm not sure. :edit: Keeping with the theme---perhaps Medusa? (look around the reactor dome) -

Are there decent 3rd party Macross inspiered toys out there?
David Hingtgen replied to dec0y13's topic in Toys
The policy specifically mentions recasts, and direct knock-offs of existing items. It was primarily put in place due to some places copying MW member's own sculpting and recasting it for sale. It also goes along with our "don't ask for/distribute copies of official shows/movies", as again it is directly copying someone else's work/production. Third-party items, while very rare at this point for the Macross franchise, do not run afoul of this AFAIK. The "Makuros" is not a copy of an existing product. (Heck, there's "official" Toynami stuff out there that's practically a true KO of some of Bandai's work---they're closer to being against the spirit of the policy than Makuros is) -
I very much agree with the new combining Voltron feeling like a KO. Hollow, thin plastic, awful paint. And while ratcheted, the joints are so loose/floppy that the floppiness (measured in degrees) is greater than the degrees between ratchet detents. Only bought one to try---think I'll save my money and buy the SoC.

The cheap/easy way to get foil like that, is candy wrappers. It's not self-adhesive, but you can't beat the price.

I'd take that offer on Messer's.
