  1. I thought so too. (Rod had mis-aligned halves, not circular). I sanded the heck out of it. Helped, but far from fixed. Eventually started creating a gap---seemed offset---gap below, strained above (looking from side, with fin folded). Heating and bending the "plate below the rod" up a bit, fixed it perfectly.
  2. I just got Thundercracker last night. Tailplanes weren't upside down, but left one ALWAYS popped right out when moving it. Tried a bunch of fixes, but in the end the only thing that really worked was heating the lower "finger" of the hinge and curving it up a bit, to "wrap" the rod-like part of the tailplane a bit more. May bend the right-side one to match now... (but just my luck, that'd make the right side NOT work...) Nose section pretty good on mine, much better than the actual MP-07 for sure. Right wing-root extension doesn't seem to want to stay flush alongside the intake though. Need to disassemble it anyways to paint it more G1 (black accents, not navy!) and may be able to tweak a few things while I'm at it. I hope the pins and screw-covers come out easier than on an actual MP seeker. I too am tempted to remove/alter the "no over" markings, but I do think it does have the same Future-esque gloss coating that real MP-06 and MP-07 do---and so most removal methods would strip the coating, too, leaving a bunch of obvious dull spots where they were.
  3. Just a few pics from this weekend: They at least allowed the F-35 to do a mini-demo (nowhere is getting a full demo, not this year) and there were two notables: 1. Max acceleration demo. "minimum clean speed", around 200kts, approaching end of runway--hits full burner, hits 500kts by the end of runway. (if announcer is to be believed) 2. Not even sure what to call it, but ----go fast, hit rudder hard left and hit burner, and just "drift" a bit, with the nose pointing way to the left while still traveling straight ahead, before the burner really kicks in and it starts flying the way it's pointing. A "power crab"? PS---as you can see, pink canopy tint is totally a thing...
  4. So where/what exactly would you sand to prevent that? The "tube" that goes through the middle part?
  5. Just like the VF-31A's are missing their hardpoints? "Time-rushed animators not properly mirroring things or covering up gaps" explains a lot more things better than "they MEANT to do that!"
  6. I imagine it's related to the "SWS" markings etc we see----neither the Japanese designers nor Chinese factory workers, are likely to notice that a stylized English font is upside down, or even has any "meaning" and isn't simply a artistic/symbolic marking.
  7. I *loved* Scrambled Valkyrie. Still one of the all-time best SNES soundtracks I've heard. Modded my SNES just for that game. There's no official difficulty setting, but it's very much: Easy mode: use Max Hard mode: use Milia
  8. My PG Wing Zero just keeps looking worse over time. Sigh, think I'll have to get both the High-Res and the GFF... (never did buy the MG, and the RG is basically lacking the multi-tone coloring that defines RG to me)
  9. eBay flashsale, same as usual: PREMEMDAY15. Go snag something! I just got "CG-04", which I was unaware existed until I was browsing Bababobo's store---apparently it just released this week. It's pretty much what I've been wanting for years---the MP-11 seeker mold, in Thundercracker's deep G1 toy blue. They put the MP-07 scheme on the MP-11 mold. Not perfectly G1, but "the best combo of mold/paint yet" for me, as a G1 TC toy fan. Will take some repainting to make it "more G1", but I've done it before to an MP seeker, I'll do it again. Just really hope Reprolabels will up-size their sticker sheets for these guys. It should be REALLY simple for them to do.
  10. With how Hollywood is now--probably some home-grown Chinese plane, which'll defeat everything and anything it comes across, up until the very last fight, where Maverick BARELY beats it... *this film co-produced by the People's Shen-Jian Aircraft Factory #4
  11. That's true of most tampo---I've had parts soaked in alcohol for days, to the point that the plastic started getting brittle--paint long gone, but the tampo printing--still factory fresh...
  12. He is, like Inferno (though not as badly)---uber toon-accurate. To the point of looking like a "toy" Countach. (you know what I mean!). Sideswipe is far more realistically colored/painted---vents, intakes, framing, etc. They may share alt-modes (more so than they should, really), but they're in two different "levels of realism".
  13. That looks right---but Bandai production never matches Bandai prototype/samples. (and man, I'm getting worried---Mirage's seems to have had the fewest re-openings of any of the -31's---I've not even had the slightest chance to snag a pre-order)
  14. I think they're more like Nintendo---it sold out, but they won't make more. Their F-22 releases are all like that.
  15. So like a year after getting my Bandai TFA X-Wing, I had a mini-revelation while staring at the sticker sheet---the "unused" portion of the sticker sheet, in the canopy area---would basically be pre-cut masks for the framing. So I tried it. And it worked well: It still sucks that they give that stupid "framing with no glass" option, but at least I now have a good way to paint other ones like that. (God, I hope they don't make a B-Wing canopy like that though, it'd be masking a bulbous cone...)
  16. I believe that at least of few of the releases, have the nosecone molded in blue, but painted over in grey.
  17. Need a Milia pilot sculpt, and cast it in red plastic---then I'll buy.
  18. That sounds more like the LED's burning out in a matter of seconds. There's no way 6 LED's would drain it that fast. Maybe 600...
  19. Interesting that they built it with a crystal-clear canopy, no tint at all. And yeah, I can paint very small things---but not eyebrows on a 1/72 Hayate.
  20. Chogokin ISD? Either not much metal, or will weigh a ton. I actually hope it DOESN'T have much metal---can't sculpt that fine in diecast. I want 50,000 little details in fine plastic...
  21. But, I mean--every pic we've ever seen of a model of Mirage's valk (Tomy 1/144, Bandai 1/72 kit, etc),---has been taken with a camera. Yet they always look purple, or at least magenta/fuschia--never red like the latest DX pics. It's not "just how cameras see Mirage's color".
  22. Hmmn. So are they saying the actual release will probably be more purple, or that only the proto was purple and the final release will be reddish like we've seen? Also, I've not seen a Mirage proto with a type-J head (unless they mean someone besides Hayate is the main character)
  23. Exactly. It's pink, but not the right pink at all. Just like how Max's VF-22 is blue, but if it was painted like his VF-1J it'd be totally wrong--even though they're both blue.
