Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
David Hingtgen replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Very large, good scans of the animation models of all 4 main VF-25s in practically every mode with every armor/pack variation: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...mp;#entry622964 (every Frontier fan should have a copy of these scans just for sheer reference value) I doubt that every valk was entirely redone prior to the final animation. A weird pose in the OP doesn't counteract every other image. What we really need are some good screencaps of a "bare" battroid in a "normal" pose for comparison. -
Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
David Hingtgen replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That pic there has me wondering what finish is used---you can clearly see the parts seams, so it's not puttied/sanded/painted----but it is awfully smooth for not being overtly glossy---yet the big wing piano hinge is not the same shade as the rest of the plane. Un-puttied seams and painted? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do--I am NOT going to paint the white--not on something with this many moving/scraping parts, all white areas will be left white plastic. But I'm wondering if I should use pens for panel lines, a wash, or what. And then do I seal it? Again---I intend for mine to be "played with" and "toyistic"---thus the finish needs to be durable, and not impede anything. Layers of paint and clear may cause clearance issues. I never seal pens, and that one is clearly penned with pure black ink--and it looks remarkably good for that---if that's over base white plastic, I may go with that. But if that's penned ink over painted white, I may go with a wash, to really eliminate as much "plasticy" look as possible. -
Zero was a nice "bump" but pales in comparison to the last year, and especially the last few months.

Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
David Hingtgen replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Man, I really should try to find that article again, if my memory of a translation is going to be used as a reference... -
And I was speaking just for myself, not as a mod. (though this thread has been closely watched by all of us since the first post--threads like this never end well)

I wasn't being literal, more like "I agree with previous descriptions of how bad Escaflowne was hacked up".
-
Seconded---Escaflowne on Fox is only slightly less hacked up than Macross was in Robotech...

I thought I noticed that Brera's eye color seemed different. (plus his uniform) -

Apologies to Mr March for sucking his bandwidth. -
Are you sure it was actually posted? There's no record of it. Unless whoever deleted it subsequently deleted it from the "archive" as well---which is rare and very paranoid behaviour for a mod.

General help that could (or not) fix various issues: Media Player Classic---Options>Playback>Output. Upper left section will be direct showvideo. Select VMR9(renderless).

Sorry, but Megaforce is specifically not allowed by MW's rules.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
David Hingtgen replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just an FYI, I've found pics of Yamato's entire booth--and there's NOTHING new. Just 1/60 v2 Roy and Hikaru, 1/48 Max 1A and some non-Macross stuff. They either didn't bring any VF-11 stuff at all, or they're saving it for later in the show or something. -
I tried many codecs and found that the CCCP+Media Player Classic blew all the others away in playback performance. It also plays back more files than anything else--there are a few that it doesn't like, but they are rare, and always old.

I don't have a problem with the fighter mode of any of them, but the 1/60 is fat in BATTROID, which is its most distinctive look. The VF-25 looks pretty typical in fighter mode as valks go, no sleeker than an Sv-51. But battroid mode? Its anorexic compared to many.

I never torrent, I always do direct download. Plenty of places to get both GG and Lunar versions. Personally, I find MKV's via Media Player Classic to be the most trouble-free, regardless of which group made it.

Along that line of thinking: One of the many articles I've google-translated from the Chara Hobby show said something along the lines of "The 1/100 is supposed to be line-accurate, while the 1/60 is designed to look like a sturdy typical Chogokin". Honestly, with how fat the 1/60 is looking lately, I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai purposely is making it chunky like the 1/55. Which would suck, as the VF-25 is the skinniest valk ever and is DEFINED by how thin it is compared to others. I mean, we've seen the 1/100 and 1/72, there is NO need to have legs that thick on the 1/60.

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

Posting this here as well: I made an updated purple version of medium Phoenix armor for females----same as the one I did earlier but now includes textures for "far" distances. Pic: Download: http://home.mchsi.com/~ncc42768/PhxMpurple.tpf Scorpion light armor, in a sort of "Air Force blue" tone----works very well with Liara IMHO. Pic: Download: http://home.mchsi.com/~ncc42768/ScorpLblue.tpf And I'm still open to a recoloring request or two. I can't turn leather into chainmail, but I can make red or blue into green or yellow, etc.

Transformers Super Thread 7

The tailfins clearly aren't black. And no MP seeker has had "contrasting" tailfins yet. -
Gah, the new figs have already been posted... (at first I thought they were resin models, then I saw the stuff around them and how "shiny" they were)

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
David Hingtgen replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
No "big wing" -19 lacks the canards. Also, despite having the same wings, the YF-19/VF-19A, and VF-19P/Basara's, have different tailfins----the P and Basara's have VF-19F/S style tailfins, as well as the F/S style of wingroot/LEX. -

The -19 family is more complex than you'd think. Making a VF-19F/S from Basara's would take a lot of work. You can't just repaint his blue and change the head, cough cough. -

Stickers to make different sets---no way. The missile hatches alone preclude that possibility. Still, since the 1/60 looks "fatter" in every pic, I worry about full armor being possible. VF-25's are very skinny so as to allow such thick armor.
