Both Figma and Revoltech suffer from "what's hot now-itis". I mean yeah, any company SHOULD capitalize on what's popular, but I swear sometimes they seem to be *intentionally* avoiding characters from ultra-popular stuff from the 80's, 90's, and even "way back in 2003" that'd translate quite well. I'd own a zillion if they made more than Yoko, Haruhi, Yoko, Saber, and more Yoko and Saber variants... (have you seen what's coming up in the next few months? That's pretty much it) You'd think with how nearly every single BGC fig made in the past 5 years sold out, and how the hardsuit design is, BGC revoltechs or figmas would be a no-brainer. (just one of many examples)

JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
David Hingtgen replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The guy who's repainting *may* sell just masks separately so that people could repaint themselves. -
I forgot about that, good idea------a "retrofit kit" to convert the earlier ones to the new style of hip-bar/crotch. Sell it along with the replacement shoulder hinges! If you own an early V2, you'll probably want/need both of those things.

JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
David Hingtgen replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sorry Warmaker, this is the final production version: http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtop...0&start=740 Do you follow any of the diecast/model/military sites? The spots on the Tomcat has been the raging issue for the past week or so. You might want to see the "spot fixing" thread: http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtop...sc&start=80 Now, some retailers have put up a "no returns due to "minor" paint/assembly issues" clause on their website, but I bet you could send it back if it's unopened. If you want another video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrV1qeb8hXA...feature=related Now, some are saying that the "spottiest" of them all were made into the special edition release, and those are the ones in the videos. But I don't think anyone actually has seen both versions side-by-side to see if there actually is a difference in spots. -
JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
David Hingtgen replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, people like to say this is the rarely-seen F-14 Leopard. LOT of pre-orders were cancelled when they saw the spots. -
Seconded about the rivets. Ever seen a Super Hornet up close? They are SMOOTH. They have like 1/10 the visible rivets etc of older planes.
-
1. Replacement shoulder hinges 2. Black instrument panel (why are they white?) 3. See #1

The 787 is awesome when it comes to appearance, because it's the most distinctive looking large jetliner in many years. Too bad it lost the sharkfin tail late in the design phase... (actually, the last thing I read was that that was the better design aerodynamically, but they basically "clipped" it to a smaller, more normal shape to reduce weight)

The QAAM choices in the game make perfect sense to me. AIM-9X and AA-11. Meteor is XLAA? Didn't remember that. Then what do the Eurocanards use for XMAA? (I think I'm going to go play AC5 again soon)
-
Every weapon (excepting the obvious fantasies) in AC games is real and appropriate. The "basic" missile on an F-14/15/16/18 is an AIM-9. A MiG-29 has an AA-8. F-2 has AAM-3. The "XMAA" will be an AMRAAM, Meteor, or AA-12, depending on what plane it's on. XLAA can be AIM-54, AA-9, etc. I don't know if the game actually tweaks the specs for each weapon, or simply makes them all the same. (as in, will the game actually make a Meteor slightly different than an AMRAAM, or simply gives all XMAA-type the same specs)

Ehh, it happened a few times on purpose too in Vietnam at least---a steam locomotive boiler is a GREAT heat source, and they were targets at times.
-
I just snagged the LEGO TIE Defender at TRU. Horribly overpriced, $55, but it'll be my main Xmas present for myself this year so I splurged. (yeah, it'll probably be $45 at Target, but they won't get any until Jan/Feb at best) Also saw a Cad Bane fig for the first time ever. (and moved it down and forward to a low peg, next to an Ahsoka)
-
Actually I was thinking of doing just that---locking it for a while, then re-opening it when things have cooled down and a few more people are banned---no, we're not done yet.

A bit OT but: If anyone sees on a blog/site that Kotobukiya's new 1/100 Fei-Yen is actually released/purchasable, would you let me know? I've got one pre-ordered but don't know if it'll actually be out in time for Xmas.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
David Hingtgen replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
A non-speaking 2-sec shot of someone reading something? I'd say that's subtle. -
Yes they are. It is basically "KOTOR 3 online", as much as it could be without being a direct prequel/sequel.
-
Well, KOTOR 2 wasn't made by Bioware, which account for a lot of the issues in that game.
-
Way OT people...
-
Always is in a Bioware game. Helping people takes time and effort, just like in real life. It's quick and easy to ignore people and be an ass. Sadly, a lot of people choose the latter in real life, too.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
David Hingtgen replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Too many websites rely on too much "junk". I've had periods where I've "locked down" a browser so that almost everything is disabled---but then half the websites of the world don't work right, and you have to click approve/allow on every single page. Wouldn't "no script" do a whole lot more than merely block iframe problems? -

I liked it--it was subtle. I wouldn't be surprised if half the viewers didn't even recognize. -
