Hard to combo powers when there's a slow universal cooldown, and every enemy has resistance to 3/4 of all biotic powers at any given time... And of course, the one thing that can be comboed more than any other power---is warp! Nearly every combo that exists is "something, followed by warp". It's still warp-warp-warp-warp gameplay. Plus, combo'd powers still suck. For how rarely you can successfully employ them, they should do a heck of a lot more damage. PS---in ME1, I mixed it up a ton. Nothing was spammed. That's what made it fun. There were no formal combos with special effects/bonuses, but making your own combos was great. Of course singularity+anything was good, but there were a bunch of things that worked well.

No, there's WAY too many silver TFs lately, especially with the Bay aesthetic.
-
They completely nerfed biotics compared to ME1. It's hard (or really, BORING) to play through as now---to the point that they've quasi-announced a patch. (it may be part of a big DLC or something). If you want to sit behind cover and throw "warp" after "warp" after "warp" after "warp"----play a biotic.

You mean all the official ILM renders that were thousands of pixels tall weren't enough reference? A quick glance shows the flames aren't pinstriped. I'll assume there's many other small details omitted.

Blue Arcee. http://www.tfw2005.com/comic-con/Transformers-Prime/p1040652.jpg I like the design a lot. But---blue Arcee.

TRU took down Grimlock entirely after he sold out, wouldn't even come up via a search. Now he's up again, listed as backordered--but for 10 bucks more! BTW, my order is currently listed as "Special Order: Awaiting inventory". Same as a backorder or something different?

Agree with kanedaestes----it should be Hot Rod *and* Rodimus. Rodimus only would be lame, he'd just transform into the front 1/3 of a winnebago--probably with his legs sticking straight back like the G1 version. However, looking at the sideview of the lineart---the "cab" is way too tall vertically to look right as Hot Rod. So I suspect it is Rodimus Prime only, and will be rather lame as Masterpieces go. Basically just a scaled-up G1. (true, that's what Grimlock is--but Grimlock always had one of the most "screen accurate" transformations to begin with, while G1 Rodimus was a very lame toy)
-
Yeah, I just got that too. I wonder if that's standard procedure for pre-orders from them.
-
Yeah, it went from pre-order to back-order just a few mins after I placed my order.
-
Thanks for the notice--with how far away TRU is from me, that's well worth it---plus it's scheduled to ship right around my birthday.

Erm, it won't be made at all. It is a concept in the truest sense of the word. They're probably not even going to ASK the airlines about it, it's that far-off/out there. A big issue that airliners have to deal with, that military planes don't have to so much: Existing infrastructure. You can't make anything "too" out of the norm, shape-wise---otherwise, airports can't take it. Baggage/cargo loaders won't work, jetways can't hook up, won't fit next to other planes at the gate, etc. Also, passenger evacuation is always an issue with anything alongside the fuselage, like buried engines or a split tail.

A bit OT, but looking over that decal sheet---anyone have a spare cockpit decal from that set? I could really use one, but don't want to have to set up an account and buy an entire set just for that one decal.

That pretty much falls under the category of "read the thread's sub-title". -
JSI 1/18 Scale F-14 Tomcat Announced
David Hingtgen replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's 100x more accurate than previous releases though. (and that scheme is a personal favorite of mine---I think it's almost a squadron taboo to put the actual black knight on the tail---that anniversary scheme is the only instance I know of it) (SD knights or Tomcat knights on the tail don't count, that's not the squadron icon) You can't use both GBU-24s with the parts they give you though--they only give you the 2 forward Phoenix pallets it seems--but GBU-24's do NOT go side-by-side---they are mounted diagonally, always--and that means you need front and rear pallets. -
How long have the Typhoons been doing the "fully loaded demo" thing?

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie

I'll choose to interpret that as "fighter mode looks really bad, we're too embarassed to show it". -

Stuff to turn off: Anything labled "enhancer". Anything labled "adjuster". Anything labled "auto". Anything labled "dynamic". It'll vary TV-by-TV, and brand-by-brand. But in short--if your TV has a "movie" mode, start from there. Go through all your picture options--if it can be turned "off", do so. If not, pick "low". Frankly, you should have nothing more than the basic contrast, brightness, tint, sharpness controls to actually fiddle with, same as a TV from the 70's. Everything else is junk, and should be OFF. (all those extra things also introduce lag, if you play games). A lot of people who complain of lag, often have a lot of those things turned on or set to high--the TV has to do extra processing to do those things, and that introduces delays in rendering the frames. You want to TV to do as little work as possible, and simply show what it's being sent--whether from a Blu-Ray or antenna or PS3. -
The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
David Hingtgen replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, and "Skids and Mudflap are so goofy-looking and racist they can't possibly be the final design--that's just to throw us off". Seriously, has ANYTHING from the past 2 movies been proven false, or a stand-in? Everyone (including Bay) always claims "that's just a rumor to throw people off"--but yet AFAIK, just about everything ever shown---that IS the final design. PS--knowing how much Bay likes the Military, I'm surprised they didn't go for the Army-painted NASCAR... -
Ok, who's the transformer with hair and glasses? Perceptor? Wheeljack? Einstein Prime? http://thescorecardreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_2570_2.jpg

Same here--carrier, pilot name, rescue arrows, ejection triangles. Just the "bare minimum" "obvious" markings. (this also follows real-world repaints---out on a carrier, a plane rarely gets ALL the no step markings etc put back on, but a few things are ALWAYS there, even if nearly everything else got left off)
-
Ok, I'll reiterate: There is absolutely no way I'm going to buy 2 copies of that mold.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
David Hingtgen replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Most TV's are set way too sharp from the factory. "Vivid" will only make it worse. Want to make any upscaled DVD look utterly horrible? Set a TV to "vivid". IMHO, any and every "feature" on a TV, only highlights flaws and artificially changes the image. If you want it to look the best, turn EVERYTHING off that you can. Inducing contrast and edges only magnifies the flaws that are already there. PS--what exact movies are you watching? If it was FILMED, then there will be grain. It it's 100% CGI from Pixar, then it's possible to be grain-free. But so long as there's actual film in a camera at some point, grain will occur. (and even digital cameras still induce noise--the only way to have PERFECT clarity is to be 100% CG rendered from scratch) -
Ok, I just learned that Blurr (blue peg) has guns, not swords. True to the character, but TF swords are kind of rare, especially good ones. But I don't plan to buy the mold twice. But, I'm a pretty big Blurr fan. I'm debating which version to pick up now...

All Things Video Games Thread: II
David Hingtgen replied to Wanzerfan's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It'l be hard to top Desert Strike, but I'm very interested. It has been a long time since a good game of that genre came out. I have to echo comments about realism vs arcade, when it comes to controls--you do NOT want fully accurate cyclic and collective controls mapped to a controller! But you do want more than just a D-pad, otherwise the unique abilities are lost/pointless. -
Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie
David Hingtgen replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yet again--make Mylene's valk. It's even more battroid-centric than Basara's. The shape of fighter mode is ENTIRELY determined by the battroid. Plus, it's inherently much slimmer in battroid, so you don't have to worry so much about ending up with a chunky fighter mode.
