  1. I think AMT/Ertl's Klingon Bird of Prey was among their best kits. Watch the wing joint (several options provided), but other than that it's pretty nice.
  2. Ok, 9 years, that's a pretty big gap to quote a post, but hey, it is a nice-looking 'vark, with the slats out and everything. (and even has the glove opened up)
  3. More battroid dancing action? That would have required them to transform out of fighter mode more than once or twice after the first episode...
  4. DHL is both ridiculously expensive, and ridiculously fast. Sometimes it's like they just have a courier hop on board the next flight out, carry it through customs, then bring it to you...
  5. That is, sadly, among the least-noteworthy/odd things to happen this year...
  6. Mike--you commented on Tentankil's headsculpt, but said nothing about his teeny-tiny eyes? I still wonder if it's just me, or what, since nobody at TFW has ever mentioned it either (besides myself). Am I missing something, or is Tentakil having eyes like 1/4 the size of any other character just not an issue?
  7. That's a disservice to Rei, I think most of her clones floating in the tank had more personality than Reina...
  8. Zaxxon is what caught my eye. That may have been the first video game I ever played.
  9. Even though Wing Zero w/angel wings is my fave Gundam, even I think it's kinda pointless to release ANOTHER 1/100 so soon after the HiRM. Seriously, give me an MG Delta. Not Delta Plus, Delta Kai, or Hyaku Shiki, just Delta. I want gold, and I want it to transform.
  10. Why on earth would they make the Osprey orange and black? Or is it not actually an Osprey, and just very Osprey-esque?
  11. Yeah, his gun mode is by the most G1 of this set's gun-modes.
  12. Wait, so is this an all new, MG 2.0 of Wing Zero Custom?
  13. Any links for that? I read a very long article about one of the incidents, but don't recall seeing anything about post-accident interviews about touchscreens.
  14. I'd say "fuzzy", but yeah---working with ABS sucks. Doesn't sand nicely, doesn't glue nicely. It'll paint nicely, but really likes its "shape/structure" left alone.
  15. I have so many hobbies I pretty much have to cycle through them. Like, all my money/time/forum-browsing will be focused on one for a few weeks/months, then switch to one of the others. Eventually cycling back to see "all the new stuff I missed while I was enjoying my other ones".
  16. I hate touchscreens during winter---I want to keep my gloves on. (most "touchscreen-compatible" gloves, aren't) . Give me a button, not a spot to touch. Or even better---knobs. Knobs are the best. Simple comparison: My old car, had knobs. Current one has buttons. A/C and radio, have the same issue. Want to make a large increase in volume or temp? Twist knob to right, almost instantaneous. But with buttons? Press, press, press, press, press, press, press, press, press..... Takes a long time to go from Vol 10 to Vol 30, or change the vents to blowing out very hot or cold if you're trying to keep a meal hot or cold in the seat... If you want anything other than "off" or "mute"----it'll take a lot of button presses to get there. I recall reading about a Russian pilot, who said that many people were designing color-coded screens and instruments for modern fighter jets---but he pointed out that when pulling high-G's, you experience greying out LONG before blacking out, and that color-coding instruments is pointless, or even harmful if it RELIES on the color-difference----it needs to be clear in black-and-white in a dogfight.
  17. IMHO, pretty much all beast-formers should have the beast-limbs fold away inside the robot, in robot mode. Anything less is just lazy in this day and age. All these figures with ginormous hollow robot calves, that leave beast-legs just hanging outside.... Exceptions for ones with ACTUAL animal alt-modes, like first season Beast Wars. The "wearing animal skins in robot mode" are very much a core part of the look.
  18. Well yeah---jumping out of a plane has you going DOWN, launching in a shuttle has you going UP.
  19. I'm one of the biggest Seacon fans around, but I passed on all of these, mainly due to price. Plus never being that enamored with Combiner Wars in the first place. I love combiners above all else, and it's pretty much all I buy---but I just think Hasbro missed the mark, with almost all of them. Also, I got most of my TFC limb-bots for $63 shipped. A single TFC Poseidon FOOT has more plastic and mass than Hasbro's Snaptrap. I can't really justify paying $40 for a repainted deluxe when I can get new-mold leaders for 50% more. (now, I adore the colors on Hasbro's, as they are spot-on to the originals, whereas TFC did mostly TV colors-----if TFC did toy-colors I'd sell my original in a second) Overbite ("Cyberjaw" for TFC) is by far the most mis-colored of TFC's, there's very little purple and it's the totally wrong shade (neither toon nor TV), and I'd love to have a new properly-colored one----but $40 is just way too much for a boxy remold of Rippersnapper.
  20. FP Menasor! Not-Breakdown was my first 3P figure ever. (and boy did it take a lot of sanding tabs/edges/pegs to be able to transform well, like a resin garage kit but made of plastic…) Anyways, notable for actually having the cars form the arms, and like 2/3 of the mass of the lower legs. Still very rare, but still not quite as G1-toy-esque as I'd like. But still the only Menasor I've bought, because toon-style Menasor is just ridiculously stupid. More like Motormaster cosplaying as Menasor...
  21. Those aren't "split flaps", split flaps are something totally different. (and similar to zap flaps). The VF-1 has no ailerons, same as the F-14. The VF-1 wing and F-14 wing are quite similar, though the VF-1 actually has more complex flaps, flat-out airliner-esque. Leading edge has SLATS, no flaps there. Moves downward only, and must extend laterally to move down. (F-16's and F-18's have flaps there, can move down AND up and pivot to do so, no lateral extension) Trailing edge has slotted fowler flaps, rare for a fighter jet but usually seen on airliners. Much like the slats, downward-only, also has lateral movement, but an even more complex and effective system than the slats. Inboards are doubled-slotted, outboards are single-slotted. (F-14's are single-slotted all the way across) Immediately ahead of the flaps, are the spoilers. I don't think I've seen anything canonically showing them, but it's very logical to have them, based on the F-14 and the details we can see. Effectively upwards-only on most planes, but on the F-14 they can depress downwards by a few degrees when the flaps are out to close up the gap/reprofile the upper surface. When they're all up (both wings) they're basically speed brakes. When they're up on only one wing, they're for roll control, replacing the ailerons.
  22. I think maybe you're confusing the flaps, with "other bits that can move". It might help to circle exactly what you mean? The only time the flaps would be down when climbing, would be immediately after takeoff, while still slow but accelerating. In a fighter jet, this would only last a few secs. (and they'd only be down a little)
  23. Oh, I'm all about FP/MT stylizing, and the early MP's. I just think Monstructor missed the mark a bit, in that "not enough bits fold away" for bot mode, mainly, and/or beast and bot mode are a bit too similar. (there's so many 3P figures, where they're like one hinge away from "folding the beast legs away inside the bot legs" but just leave them hanging there like the G1 toys did) But, considering that "non-toon-accurate" combiners seem to be a thing of the past, I may still pick it up, if it goes cheap. (Same for Quantron, which has many flaws, but often gets really cheap)
  24. I meant, due to the individual robot and alt-modes being relatively poor (IMHO), the only aspect that it does well is combined mode, which means it'll rarely be transformed. Thus, it's effectively an action-master. Vs say, other 3P combiner teams where the individual bots are so awesome I often leave them un-combined.
