I finally got around to sorting all the remaining accessories to my US-release MSIA figs and am going to sell off almost all of them, please have a look if you're interested: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34915 Mostly from 0079 and UC OVAs, a few from Wing.- 6025 replies

Whats Lying on your Workbench MKIII
David Hingtgen replied to HWR MKII's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Are you going to light it up? Mine has LightSheet deflector and nacelles, bulbs everywhere else. Also, there are many upgrades available for that kit. http://www.dlmparts.com/excelsiorvoyagerds9.html The aft torpedo launcher alone is worth it for the $10 IMHO. It's a drop-in replacement for the kit's part and is 100x better. -

Possibly. It started acting up after noon and my PC wasn't on this morning. -

Just updated itself a minute ago. See how it does. eugimon--how often do you auto-update? If you have it to like every 6 hours or something, maybe you haven't gotten it yet, and you'll just skip over it to the newest one. -

Twitter's gone nuts about it. Avast just blocked Wikipedia itself from me... -

Anyone else getting a lot of Avast warnings this afternoon? I am getting a zillion HTML:Script-inf warnings (mostly from forums) ever since the last auto-update. It even says my ISP's email site has it. (which really sucks, as I'm not going to type in my password until I'm sure it's clean) Couple of wikis, too. I'm betting Avast screwed something up, more than a bunch of places got infected with something all of a sudden. But, with the massive SQL-injection that happened recently, it could actually be a bunch of sites got hit. You know, Avast has been making me more and more irritated lately. Anyone have suggestions? I used AVG years ago but found Avast was better. May go back to them. ::edit:: Non-working link to one of the sites I went to---Gundam Wiki: hxxp://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MS-06RD-4_Zaku_II_Prototype -

I've used that exact decal sheet on an Excelsior Refit---they're very thin and "stretchy" as decals go, but didn't seem especially fragile. I didn't need blue paint for anywhere but the clear parts for "warp glow" and the edges of the pylons. And yes, by the end, half the ship is covered in decal film. But that's not much different from the current trend of using decals for an aztec pattern, where like 90% of the ship is decaled. (they exist for that kit, if you feel like it) Mine's flat-coated. I would never gloss a Trek ship, unless the gloss itself was applied in an aztec pattern and it was the ST:TMP version of 1701. (since that's how it was) -
"AS-4 gray-violet" I'd bet a lot of money on being WW2 Luftwaffe "grau-violett". Might work though.

Is there a good match for "common purple-grey" like is used on weapons, thrusters, etc? I usually use Testor's Intermediate Blue but it's just a smidge too "blue" and not "lavender". Has to come in a spray can, too. Would like to find something from Tamiya, as their spray cans are just that much better/smoother.

Slightly OT, but why couldn't they have just done this for the MG Epyon: Bandai's video game division seems to remember how it looked on TV. This design is slightly tweaked, but it is SLIGHT.

That alone's not enough. It'd have to be pretty much un-articulated as well. It's easy to light up a torso. Feet and hip armor are much harder.

I love light-up stuff on Gundams. I just don't like 99% of the recent 00/SEED designs... Now if they can just figure out a way for a light up Unicron destroy mode...

IMHO, time is more important than grade. Modern MG's blow away earlier MG's and even some PG's. There's HGUC's that would have been considered MG's a few years ago if they were an inch taller. Simply put--the newer the better, period.

Just a bit of necromancy here, but Voyage of the Dawn Treader is out on DVD/Blu-Ray today. Yes, a Friday. -

The first one has no FAST packs, it's just the bare valk. That's why the 2nd one costs so much more.

Got my package from HLJ, a day earlier than FedEx said. (3 instead of 4) (FedEx was only 2 bucks more than SAL so it was a no-brainer)

Anyone else get an email from EA in German about their account? I found this message but nothing else discussing it: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/5549100.page#13186626 I too am guessing it may be related to the massive hack of Epsilon's email addresses. Which sucks, as the one I have associated with EA is my main one. -

Thought I just had: Say you have a $150 budget. Would it generally be better to get the newest "cheaper" card that isn't very high-end to start with and was $150 the day it came out, or to get an older card that was much more powerful in its day (possibly top of the line), but has now fallen down to $150 due to age. -

Few things are more "BS" than power requirement ratings on a graphics card. Quality over quantity. Many companies will say "it needs 700 watts" just to ensure that it actually gets 200 or something, as many "700 watt" power supplies are so cheap they can't really put out anywhere near that on a consistent basis---and so if you have a really cheap power supply, you may need one rated 700+ watts to power a card that actually only would suck up 200 watts at 100% usage and would usually idle at like 20... (then you get into amperage on a single rail, etc). Again, quality over quantity. A high-quality 500w unit is so much better than a cheap 800w unit. Go find some reviews that measure the ACTUAL power consumed by the card, and use that for your basis/calculations. -

While I am traditionally an Nvidia fan and have only ever had their stuff, lately I've been thinking ATI for when I upgrade. -

I swear graphics card drivers are an often-overlooked source of crashes and freezes. ATI and Nvidia seem to update them so often I don't think they get tested that well. I've rolled back to an older driver many times after an update actually makes my PC worse. -

Been like that since the beginning. It's all one mechanism. -
Been like that since the first one in 1969. Though the front 1 or 2 are blanked by many airlines. It's an oft-missed fact that the pilots do not have the forward-most seats on a 747.
