  1. HWR--sorry, but I must ask--have you personally tried making transparent *purple*? All the standard methods for "colored clear" don't work for purple. Future? Food coloring? Mixing red and blue? Nope. Purple is a different beast. Red/blue/green/yellow are no problem. But clear PURPLE? Many many posts here at MW trying to find a good solution to the problem of Alto's canopy. I honestly think I spent more money on various purple "things" than the kit itself cost. If it's a purple paint/dye/ink/tint sold in the USA, I bought it and tried mixing it with various things for that canopy.
  2. I wonder--how could they tell? It's not as if the stolen credit cards would be used only for Sony or game-related things. Also--at least a few reports at various game sites of fraud or suspected fraud. (of course, could just be coincidence)
  3. 'Tis the same plane. You can probably figure out the entire scheme with this: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=154%20white&distinct_entry=true Just found a blue Flanker you might like: http://www.richard-seaman.com/Wallpaper/Aircraft/Fighters/Russian/Su30MkClimbing.jpg
  4. Most of the neat Fulcrums are more greenish than bluish: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-29M-2/0925769/M/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-29M-2/0907883/M/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Peru---Air/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-29S-(9-13S)/0882432/M/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Peru---Air/Mikoyan-Gurevich-MiG-29S-(9-13S)/0891284/M/
  5. IIRC they stopped making "ink" a few years ago, and all you can find now is the "wash" which doesn't work the same.
  6. I still think Ver 4 is the worst version. 1/2/3 are all better. There should be WAY more ver 2 and ver 3 merchandise.
  7. Is there a general consensus on flat-coating the "shiny gunmetal" plastic in newer Gundam kits? My new MG Wing has a ton of it---I am quite fond of the metallic look, and fear that flat-coating it will make it just look "grey". But having dull armor and shiny internals may look weird... Also, I had planned to build up sub-assemblies and then flat-coat, rather than spraying individual armor pieces---but that'll likely leave lots of half-coated frame/joint parts that'll be revealed whenever the pose is altered from the "how it was sprayed" position. But if I want it to look consistent (whether sprayed or not) I think I'll have to pretty much just spray all the armor pieces separately THEN assemble.
  8. Well, I'm paranoid enough that I just put up a fraud alert on my account.
  9. IMHO you should branch out and try some of the newer Fulcrum schemes.
  10. Not "was down" but "is still down".
  11. This may have been posted here long ago, but with the search broken I can't easily check:
  12. It could be that the boosters weren't needed until later--maybe the final version is much heavier than the prototypes, and the quick/easy way to solve thrust problems was to tack on more engines. Or, they wanted "a lot more power for PPB etc" and again---more engines gives more power to use.
  13. I didn't know the new Aventador had a retractable spoiler--it's utterly hidden when down. And it's a "W" when raised. Neat.
  14. I love colored/two-tone interiors. There's not NEARLY enough of them available. I hate when companies say they spent so much time/money on a new interior---then all they offer it in is "dark grey everywhere". (black is almost non-existent in cars, pure true black would be awesome in some cases---but it never is--"ebony" leather is not black, it's dark grey. "Graphite" interiors are the same)
  15. I just feel the need to post this: With all the struggles I had trying to get a nice transparent purple VF-25 canopy, Bandai now seems to do a "clear purple" mini-sprue every other month now... (I just came across a post on a Gundam blog where someone was trying to mix clear red and clear blue to get clear purple--and they of course found out that doesn't work, so I was reminded of it again)
  16. Ok, is Maris a cyborg? Since it seems a pre-requisite to fly the 27-series, and she's got the whole "fightsuit with triangular neck-chin-things" aspect. "Angers 672"---kind of a Meltrandi name (Milia 639), but she has human ears. Just have to wait for the MW'ers who can translate for us.
  17. Does the leg-holster actually open/work, or parts swapping?
  18. Is that the new 1/1000 snap-tight? I have looked everywhere and no shop in this state I think has it. (even the ones that I know have Trekkies working there)
  19. Head of the F-35 project predicts IOC delayed to 2017+. Makes those who bought "interim" planes look smarter all the time.
  20. Then I guess you really wouldn't like my current technique (last 3 Gundams)---"sublime green" for the eyes and head sensor. Brightest green paint on the planet. If I can't light with an LED, then I want them visible from angles other than "looking up from below with sunlight directly on them".
  21. See, IMHO only the bright neon ones look good by themselves. Everything else is too dark--eyes are always the biggest problem--they're so deeply set back that light never hits them.
  22. I am so vindicated. Though if he were a Grace fan---why no merchandise of her?!?
  23. Green eye parts----had a thought. My first Gundam kits were the 1/144 and 1/100 Gundam Wing ones. Most of the 1/100 ones had the "eye and head sensor" piece molded in a neon-green clear plastic. I thought it worked very well. But I never see it any more. Do any recent kits do that? Most go with a crystal-clear plastic. IMHO that sucks, as most of them are WAY too small to easily light, the super-clear plastic is brittle, and the parts are always too deep to attempt to use silver paint to create a reflection etc. And not to mention that it's very hard to see where the eye outlines are on that super-clear plastic. You just end up having to paint it opaque green and black anyways. Or in general---are "colored transparent" plastics used much any more for anything other than beam saber blades? (and Unicorn Destroy mode). Lately it seems Bandai is just molding everything in crystal clear, even when the part would need to be 100% painted to look right (MG Wing for example--every part that's molded clear needs to be trans-green). And due to how transparent paints visibly "pool" around every tab, nook, cranny, and sprue mark, if they were molded in color the final result would look more even. In short--I miss the formerly-common clear-neon-green parts.
  24. Urban legend that's been going around for a zillion years in a zillion variations.
  25. Just an FYI but I still have my SubZero code, if anyone's interested in trading a Mileena for it.
