Preceding two ME1 posts spoiler-tagged for Omegablue's sake since it seems he'll soon be starting the series.

My argument was that the sculpt isn't improved compared to a Trendmasters or even Masterpiece Voltron. With THAT big a scale to work with, I'd have expected something pretty darn amazing/screen-accurate. Not something which can't even fold the legs up all the way and still doesn't look that good in lion mode.

I just realized that the overhead CAD drawing in battroid mode makes it look like they forget a major step in the transformation---that the rear panels between the wings and fuselage fold down 90 degrees. (yellow in Mr March's pic): http://macross2.net/...lorcode-vf4.gif PS----that blog also says 280mm tall in battroid mode, which is 11 inches. (though is that top of the head, top of the shoulders, or top of the tail fins? The VF-4's kinda weird in battroid mode).

I had no idea it was that much larger than the "standard" Voltron(s). That makes it even more sad that they couldn't improve the sculpt/leg articulation/transformation.

I thought ep 4 was by far the worst in the series, mainly because Banagher went way more "I have to understand humanity/emotions" than before, and more than even most other Gundam/anime pilots. Was all good up till then. Ending battle was awesome, but that's all because it was OTHER people doing the fighting.

Repainting the legs won't make them fold up any better in limb mode.

Character Art Appreciation Thread III

Looks more like Asuka than Sheryl, IMHO. -
Wish they'd ship them over en-masse to the US. I still need a 25F (but not for twice what it'd have cost to get from HLJ)

Exactly---they can't say "no VW's visible at all in any footage"---but they can definitely say "no making toys of our design". Think how many movies show an airplane taking off----yet aren't licensed by Boeing...

Possibly stupid question, but it keeps bugging me: What is Jehuty Anubis, or Jehuty ver. Anubis etc? I've played both games and seen most all the anime. There's Jehuty, and there's Anubis, but they're 2 very different frames. But 90% of the merchandise lately seems to be "Jehuty Anubis"----why/what?

Did we ever really get a look at Trypticon in station mode? (external/overall) I wonder if the transformation is at all feasible/plausible. (heh, he actually seems smaller in bot mode, which is kinda rare for a TF)

I've been playing just the opening 5 mins of the demo, to try out various "tweaks" to my Shepard(s). They changed the hair colors---as in, even if you directly import/copy, the color may be very different. All the reds are much redder/brighter now, really messes with my paragon Shep's look. Eye colors are different too, IMHO. Blues are still blue, etc, but just about every option looks different than it used to. (this happened in ME1 to ME2 as well, but to a lesser degree) So I'm spending time now to figure out how I want things, rather than on launch day when I'd rather be actually playing. Also---Kotobukiya Bishoujo Fem-Shep! http://www.bigbadtoy...ail&picture=out Unlike their Liara statue, it'll be hard to argue that the face is wrong...

Does it light-up uninstalled? As in, does everything work fine right up until "that last step of sealing it inside" or has it never lit up in the first place?

20 ish hours for a good run in ME1. Good as in, doing most things, but not everything. ME2 can vary a lot depending on if you go for upgrades and loyalty missions, but it is definitely longer. But ME1 has MUCH better plot IMHO, and actually sets the stage for ME3 far more than ME2 did. Plot-wise, ME2 is darn-near a side-story IMHO. It's the collectors, not the reapers.

What is the color of the engine covers of the 1/48 Angel Birds VF-1A
David Hingtgen replied to rdenham's topic in Toys
Googling pics, it looks like they're the same shade of grey as the engine nozzles. So go see what matches. -
And I just got done painting all the missing bits etc on my green -27....

That was my thought---last ditch effort to take down as many people with him as he could----thus, they immediately sliced the arms off to prevent that scenario.

From the multiple Bulkhead toys the past few years, we know Hasbro knows how to make very bulky bots with intricate transformations, so that doesn't explain FoC Bruticus.

Character Art Appreciation Thread III

If they'd only tweak it and make a flightsuit Grace version.... (hey, that body looks more like Grace's than Sheryl's IMHO) -
Slightly OT question----in the first pic, the two big obvious screws----how tight should they be, as in, from the factory? My VF-1S seems to be quite loose there, as in the shoulder can kinda flop around 1-2mm in every direction with no resistance there in battroid mode. I honestly can't remember if that's how it was, or only after I replaced my hinges (official Yamato ones from Graham). I'd have to tighten them WAY more to "hold them down" I think but then it'd also be much harder to lift-n-swing the hinges out 180 degrees to transform. I tightened them down some more recently, but it seemed to have little/no effect. I don't really want to try to "tighten as much as I possibly can" for fear of damaging them. It's just something I don't ever recall see being mentioned about the v2. In short: In battroid mode, is the hinge itself supposed to kinda flop around? Just a small amount, but easily? The arm/shoulder armor is nice and stiff on the balljoint, and the metal pin joint is good, but the hinge assembly itself moves around freely at that screw/plastic ring.
