The Seacons have "late 80's" colors, stereotypically so. I know I had pants the exact same shade of aqua at that time.- 16711 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
David Hingtgen replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Knee-jerk reaction: They screwed up big time, cancel your TFC Uranus/Super-Ion pre-orders. An SR-71 that looks exactly like the leader-class ROTF Jetfire toy. A massive box of kibble with wings and nacelles tacked on. I think it may be worse than the original G1 Silverbolt in the kibble category. So how does THAT fit in with their stated goal of detailed, realistic alt-modes? The F-4 and F-15 are 10x better in that regard. Yeesh, could they NOT have picked the worst possible choice in jet history for trying to fit a robot inside of? "yeah, let's do the long flat skinny one with no interior volume that even Takara's master designer couldn't make look decent".- 9151 replies

Mmmmn, Space Leo. I still haven't bought the green RD Leo, and I still have my MSIA Space Leo. Can't afford both in RD----basic green is iconic, but I much more associate the purple one with being piloted by Heero and kicking ass in EW.- 6025 replies

Don't forget Alto! I tried to get one like 4 weeks after release, and never could. (not for a decent price anyways)

Just a heads-up, but I'm going to list my MP-01 first-run JP Takara MP Prime for sale over on TFW soon. Unless someone here wants it first. I haven't taken pics yet, but it's as minty-mint and complete as can be. (I'm selling off most of my collection----almost all the loose stuff is already boxed up and going out en masse---this is one of the few items really worth selling by itself) (yes, I'm using the funds for 3rd-party combiners and the like---and valks of course)- 16711 replies

Do I even need to say that post was political and not really relevant to the thread? -

Grimlock is a long way away, I think he's the "furthest in the future" of all known FoC figs. Spring 2013 if we're lucky, AFAIK. We should have Bruticus before Xmas.- 16711 replies

I thought that too----that the shape looks off, and more like the old Bandai toy. It's just not as long/sleek as it should be.

I believe they do. Though it's very interesting that Herc has a Decepticon insignia applied---that's not "Factory fresh"!

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
David Hingtgen replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's awesome to mention this when people discuss the "best Batman"---Keaton, Bale, etc. (especially pre-Nolan, when your only options were really Keaton, Clooney, Kilmer) "Kevin Conroy". If they say "who?" then they've missed out on a lot of the best Batman lore/experience the world has to offer. -
Look closer. The stripe isn't "aligned"---it's MISSING a stripe. Start at the wings and follow the stripe forward. Where does it end? Right behind the gun port. The stripe that starts at the wing doesn't get all the way to the canard. And that's how the toy is. But the toy and most other sources ADD another stripe NEXT TO that gun port, inboard of it and going forward to the canard. The toy and the chronicle and the Macross Mecha Manual all add a separate stripe, forward and inboard of the one in the animation, to continue the striping all the way forward to the canard. There's not a single source that shows one continuous stripe going from wing to canards. There's either 2 separate stripes that split at the gun port, or one stripe that doesn't go all the way forward. ::edit:: Seems Chronocidal already mentioned this.

I once *really* tried to read LOTR with all the poems and songs----gave up. "I swear, this time I won't skip over them" quickly turns into "ok, so that's the 6th elf with a name that starts with L and ends with M in the past 4 lines, and I forgot who's who"

Because it's a movie of a treasured childhood story. IMHO The Hobbit is better than LOTR in many ways. I *loved* reading The Hobbit and read it many times in my school years. The LOTR trilogy--I've read it, but the stories never really grabbed me like The Hobbit did. (the first time, I actually never finished the first LOTR book---I got bored. It wasn't until years later that I tried again and read the whole series) Considering that THE LOTR MOVIES ARE BETTER THAN THE BOOKS, I can only imagine how good the better-to-start-with Hobbit story will be on the big screen.

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
David Hingtgen replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I do, and I'm not the only one here that does. Best F-14 model out there bar none. Pricey, and frankly over-priced, but it is the best by far. -
Rewatched eps 14 and 25. In ep 14 it's clear that Alto's armor is a recolor of Ozma's---as in, there's a few leftover bits of Ozma's paint scheme, so it's not very "definitive". However, in both eps 14 and 25, for Alto's and Ozma's, there is a reddish bit where the hinge is. Looks more like a purplish-red sensor-jewel-glass though. But if nothing else--the toy's not completely wrong there-----there is red there in the animation. It's just not red-red, and not the whole piece. This is the best screen cap I could get of it:
-
Valks never have black armor--it's usually a dark greyish-blue (going back to DYRL). It just depends on the lighting, scene, animation, etc for whether it looks more black or more blue.
-
The -27 and -25 are the opposite, when it comes to model kits. (at least, they were until the renewal) The -27 DX toy has a better-looking battroid IMHO than the model kit. Whereas the -25 kit looked better in every way than the -25 DX v.1

It's SAAB's 75th anniversary, and they wanted a flypast: That may be the world's only flying Viggen. (there's multiple Drakens out there) And if nothing else, this pic proves that SAABs look cool. -
Personally, I am hoping for a "bright white" Alto renewal bundled with the Tornado pack as the Alto re-release. So I can buy it, then sell the Tornado pack to someone here. Everybody wins that way---I get my Alto, and someone gets a Tornado pack without having to buy the bundle. (my money is on the Tornado pack ONLY coming in the bundle, which will suck for everyone who already has an Alto)
-
That's part of the reason I'm ordering these sets even without owning the valk yet---fear that any future re-release bundle will be "recolored" like the blue-tinted VF-25F set was. (I think everyone here is aware of how finicky I am about shades of white/grey on my valks)

I only watched Dynamite 7 once, I honestly can't remember if it has the same "opening" shoulders like Basara's or not for the speakers.
