  1. It's like they combined the worst elements of the 2 pics you posted, instead of the best. It has the pale waist and small eagle, instead of the dark waist and large eagle...
  2. I understand your point, and counter it with this: MG Epyon is clearly meant to be a very different take, not the same suit. It doesn't preclude a future TV-version---Bandai can't possibly pass it off as intending to be a TV version or substitute for it. But this Tallgeese is so close, yet different, Bandai could easily say "it's close enough, don't expect us to retool or recolor it to make it 10% different for TV---this is the all-purpose Tallgeese I that'll represent them all".
  3. Plus a lot of people on this forum can recognize "Basara" being said by various speakers/accents.
  4. Macross heavily favors missiles. We see what, 10x more missiles used in a typical battle than gunpod rounds? If anyone could "ignore gun-range dogfights" it's the Macross universe. (not that they do, but they sure like their massive missile attacks, especially for the opening round)
  5. For how many FF games fall apart at the end, X really comes together.
  6. You haven't played IX? It's one of my absolute faves. It's like IV-2 or VI-2 would be, thematically. It's the most classic/retro one of them all. I would highly recommend playing I first. Some things in IX harken back to I. It could almost sorta be a seuqel to I---the worlds possibly overlap.
  7. I've never seen that upper pic. The lower one is famous and still looks like Tallgeese due to starkly contrasting colors. ::edit:: The MG kit is actually physically different from the 'real' Tallgeese---the boosters are now mounted on sorta Z-shaped arms that mount on the outer edge of the back---they are not mounted to the shoulder armor. That's a pretty big change. Look at the bottom-left pic here, then go up one---the boosters are removed, showing the mounting-arms clearly. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M4dKrxhuYPE/UMXyXucPn0I/AAAAAAAEDyI/RaAZYz1qXo4/s1600/1fg.jpg However--the MG kit's rear skirt armor can open, revealing large thrusters---very neat. RD version hasn't shown that yet, so it probably can't.
  8. Purdy enough to be bought for the art alone. ::edit:: However, looking at pics of the actual kit, I'm seriously considering passing. I do NOT like most of the color changes---a bit more yellow is fine, but the decrease in dark grey/black really makes it look bland and monochrome. The side-skirt edges, waist, head-crest-mount, etc---all used to be black, but now they're white/pale grey. Same with many of the chest accents. It's lost a lot of the contrast that used to be there. It always looked awesome with the stark black/white pattern---now it's white/off-white. Also--looking close, I see LOTS of navy blue. There's some dark grey too, but I will not accept a navy-blue-accented Tallgeese I. I think the pelvis, hands, shield-and-gun-mounts, and shoulders are navy blue, with only the dober gun and ankles being grey. The feet are definitely blue. Really, I want a white and BLACK Tallgeese. Dark grey is acceptable in place of black. But navy blue, and pale grey, are not. I'll probably get the Robot Damashii version instead---it has the right color scheme. This is just---bland: (also, it is the number one thing I *didn't* want to happen but feared months ago---navy blue instead of black/dark grey). I am NOT going to repaint half the kit. I wonder if Bandai would do a "TV colors" version later---it'd cost them almost nothing, but the difference is subtle enough they may skip it completely. RD version coming 4 weeks later: (so Bandai certainly does know the correct scheme, and still makes it---why on Earth is there an Endless Waltz version of Tallgeese I, with an almost-but-not-right scheme? I understand the concept of EW Epyon, and EW-style Heavyarms and Shenlong etc, but this?) (plus the RD version has the awesome BIG eagle on the shield as seen in so much Wing art)
  9. And had its first hydraulic failure and crash the next week on its second flight.
  10. I wonder if its role is almost purely an interceptor, not designed to dogfight------race out there in fighter mode, transform to battroid and let off a massive initial missile barrage---and it's presumed that'll be enough. Mainly to take out a single high-value target early in the fight, rather than engage many grunts in a protracted battle. Or another way---think of it like a submarine. They don't go out and engage directly, nor often. But when they do---it's usually a heck of a strike against something that is normally hard to go after. A very limited, specific, but effective role. (or Kawamori can just say it can deploy the launcher in .010 secs at Mach 18, and all this is moot)
  11. Same reason you almost never see the VF-27's super-huge "tail" in battroid mode. With the v2's little flaps on either side of the cockpit, it's actually BETTER than the anime I believe, when it comes to cockpit visibility in battroid mode.
  12. How is "put on the shelf" that different from "no orders or inquiries?"
  13. I'm passing---I want the movie edition in a language I comprehend.
  14. No orders or even serious inquiries AFAIK. And the angled tailfins were dropped, so a production Silent Eagle will look very much like an F-15E.
  15. Final Fantasy XIII-3. Or XIII-2-2. Or maybe "The really really real ending to XIII-2" Lightning's Return:
  16. That's more personality than most any Decepticon got. Really, the #1 area where most any show is better than the Bay movies, is Decepticon characterization. 1986 TF:TM Starscream has more character than the entire Bay trilogy Decepticon army. And Starscream died in the first half of the '86 movie...
  17. The Super Hornet is a good example of what can be done to "stealthify" an existing airframe. Really, it's about the only serious attempt I know of.
  18. I would say---darker shadow. With how close it is to the ground, it seems like a "far away" shadow.
  19. I find it ironic that (as always, despite people's predictions/claims) I only ever see random, scattered FOC Combaticons. Similar things happened with G2, and RiD----no matter how evenly-packed a case assortment is, no matter how many claims of "people only buy the whole team"----you never see entire teams "arrived and bought" or "all there fresh from the case"----it's mix and match. Somebody bought Onslaught and Swindle and Blast-Off at one store, and somebody bought everybody but Swindle at another, and everybody but Vortex at another...
  20. I just re-watched CCA (probaby 3rd or 4th time in total) and I like it even less than I remember. Honestly, I didn't remember much from the previous viewings---it really didn't make any sort of impression on me the first time. But this time, I basically thought it sucked. Really, it should be called "Quess's Crushes on Guys" more than anything. There's basically the opening battle scene, 90 mins of Quess being annoying, then the end. (my actual intent on watching it again, was to see if I could justify a purchase of the new MG nu----nope! Little screen time really, doesn't seem to use most of its weaponry for more than 5 frames of animation, and is seemingly far less important to the plot than Quess's dad) But yet, a quick check of reviews, almost all seem very positive----8's and 9's, etc. Am I missing something? They all seem to note the same issues I do, but consider them minor----yet these issues take up the majority of the movie's run-time, and are not short scenes, sub-plots, or anything else that could be "waved away".
  21. I've gotten (but not yet opened---Xmas) my first Robot Damashii figs---Wing Zero (TV) and Sandrock (TV). I mainly got the Wing Zero so Epyon will have something to fight (plus I got rid of my 1/100 kit years ago). Sandrock (TV) has always been a fave of mine, but unloved by just about everyone else---it never got a 1/100 kit, and I'd bet that even if every other TV-version gets a new MG eventually, it wouldn't. (and the EW version of Sandrock is my least-liked of the EW redesigns, it's the only one I think is much worse than the original) I would have preferred it be the original season 1 Sandrock, and not season 2 with the extra thrusters. (yes, the differences are subtle, but there---and the old MSIA was the season 2 as well, I was hoping this time Bandai'd do season 1) Seems I missed out on the Kirks version of the Zaku I Sniper, and I definitely won't pay inflated prices for it, so I'll just wait for a Desert Gelgoog or something instead. (I do love desert-camo Zeon stuff)
  22. I mentioned that earlier--it was visible earlier in the background of Todo Ushio's bio page. PS---if anyone wants to say anything to the blogger (or Bandai/Namco)-----if even just a LITTLE bit of the menus etc were in English, or had an English option, it'd help a ton. None of us expect any dialogue etc of course, but if just basic weapons, stage, etc stuff could have an English option, it'd make it much more accessible to hundreds/thousands of fans. Something as simple as "load/save/continue" can make a big difference. And fighter/battroid.
  23. Does anyone have the Raven versions of the Geno Saurer/Breaker? Do they still include the original parts? (Thus, could Psycho Geno still have the standard head parts too, so as to give me something work with/swap?) (some companies will remove a single part from the sprues by hand, before packaging, to make sure you can ONLY build the intended version) (I totally understand gated sprues that can be changed which version/areas are molded, but to actually remove already-molded pieces from a sprue always really irks me)
  24. Yeah, he's treading the line pretty closely----better be a bit more hyped-up and critical next time or face a ban---this *is* MW after all.
  25. I've noticed that a lot of various recent Mylene stuff doesn't look like her---more genericized.
