After the turtles themselves and Shredder, Splinter's the next guy. I'd honestly consider him more important than April.

Until today, I never knew the VF-171EX was "DYRL grey". Anyways--I do think Hikaru's ret-conned VF-1 looks a lot cooler in fighter mode. And I like it.

A lot of people don't even realize there IS printing on the wings etc, because it's white ink on white plastic. Bandai sure showed their brilliance there.

Most every version of the -25 and -27 was released in both model kit and toy form. The -25 toy got two very different molds---the old sucky one, and the newer awesome one---the newer -25 is the "renewal" version. And most references to a "reissue" -25, means a reissue of the renewal. The "olive" green one in the vid you posted is the "normal" version of the -27, the VF-27β, though the VF-27β has two variations itself, though both are the same color. Most famously flown by Grace, my avatar. The model kit could build both versions of the -27β, the toy was specifically/only her version. PS---if you want the pale green radomed -25, you've got to start trying to get one *now*. If you haven't secured a pre-order by the day it comes out, you will not get one for less than 2x MSRP. Bandai has cut production of valks to INSANELY low levels, to the point that they sell out almost instantly.
-
"The green one"----pale minty-green with a radome on top, or deep teal-green? The deep teal green one is the same as "the blue Diamond-force-looking one"---the VF-171 CF. But the pale minty green one is the RVF-25, in Luca's color scheme. To answer another question----while the VF-171 does look like a Diamond Force VF-17, it is a completely different mold toy-wise, and they are not the same jet in "real life"---just very similar, as the VF-171 is the direct descendant/successor to the VF-17. Almost more of a "heavy update/modification" than being an all-new valk----it was designed to be a cheaper modernization program, rather than having to re-equip entire fleets with pricey VF-22/25's etc. Most fleets would have had VF-11's, with a few -17/19's around. The -171 offered a good improvement, without sucking up massive amounts of resources needed to build top-of-the-line stuff. For any MF toy worth considering, boosters/armor are sold separately. Any bundle you find--run away, those are the vastly inferior old molds.

Personally, I'm real sick of getting a mod alert/notice/PM that this thread has something that's been causing a problem every other time I sign in to the forums---and there's been no constructive/real posts in days. I'm closing it. Good bye and good riddance to this topic.

Talon/Divebomb is still the most impressive in bot mode IMHO.- 9383 replies

Similar to not buying the entire set of wrong-colored armor just for reaction missiles---I'm not buying the armor+wings just to use some (very very cool) Shapeway missiles. I think my VF-171 will just be "naked and unarmed". But Machida's punch is all it really needs. If the final production version does end up with grey armor, it should still be fairly readily available when it comes out--it took a while for the more-popular VF-25 armor packs to sell out initially.

This may be a stupid question, but will these attach to a -171 out of the box? Or must you buy the armor pack to get the new wings to use these?

Offical word on how NY's preorder Yen exchange rate system works&#
David Hingtgen replied to Gakken85's topic in Toys
Yup---it's through Paypal, but not with Paypal. Usually near the bottom the "I don't have an account" option. Also, be sure to click "other conversion options" near the end, or you'll still get the Paypal exchange rate, even not paying with a Paypal account. -
Reaction missiles are anti-everything.

Are they for the big ship vajra? They'd be huge for the smaller ones---more like impaling them than a shot. (I haven't watched the movies for a while)

In addition to being the wrong color, it's the wrong missiles, too. I want these ship-killer missiles: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=99337 Did the CF even use the dorsal-mounted weapons? I'll gladly trade the beam rifle for these.

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=99337 I want THOSE missiles! Forget the MDE, these look like ship-killers.

I may pass--I want screen-accurate grey armor, not Alto's navy blue. I do want the nukes, but not badly enough to pay for the whole set in the wrong color.

Which makes me wonder if everyone in Japan is color-blind. Green goes with yellow/orange a heck of a lot better than purple does...

Strange---N-Y's alerts work great for me, and I only signed up a few weeks ago. Well, if I get one and it's "live" I'll PM you.

It's still not the almost-orange of the original scheme.

I suspect they will, but it'll be a while. They haven't even done them for the G and RVF yet.

Need advice on clear coats and Tamiya acrylics curing time
David Hingtgen replied to GU-11's topic in The Workshop!
I've never heard of a gloss base additive that's the opposite of their flat base---Tamiya makes such a thing? And it actually works? (flattening gloss is easy, the opposite is harder) Anyways---I tend to give Future a large lee-way in either direction----I don't apply it on top of anything that hasn't cured for a long time, and I don't put anything on top of it until it has cured a long time. ESPECIALLY do not apply decals on top of it without curing for days. It may be ok for touching or painting or re-coating, but most decal liquids will attack Future that's not utterly totally rock-hard-dry. -
Except for the pre-release color revision of the 30th ann YF-29--wasn't that totally Kawamori? And that was the change I didn't like---I really wanted the green-canopied, golden-yellow one. I passed on the purple-canopy, lighter-yellow one. (yes, I actually had it in my cart at HLJ, and it was available for several minutes---I should have just bought it, then sold it 12 weeks later for 100% profit)
