Well, mine has recently changed to "This order is currently being double-checked before final packing". That's something at least.

Actually that's what I expected too, and didn't actually click on it until I'd seen it get bumped a couple times.

If its not going to transform, making it look like an MP is pointless. Go for G1 toon accuracy. Or simply "whatever looks awesome". I still dislike how MP-01 is now practically the canon G1 Prime---it's not THAT good of a design, but everyone copies it. And having MP-10's half-fuel-tanks and wheel covers is REALLY lazy.- 16711 replies

He'll look much better with his giant cyber-bow-gun removed from behind his head and actually held as a weapon. BTW, it does seem that against all common sense, Justitoys is going ahead with their Predaking. So yes, that means there's now FOUR third-party Predakings coming.- 9150 replies

First time we've seen the black stripes on the wings. Will be interesting to see if they got the grey ones on top of the intakes---Yamato forgot them, until Graham got them to add them in. ::edit:: Pic added while typing---and they forgot them. It's not a HUGE marking, but it is one of the "core" ones that's not really subject to interpretation/detail level etc, like ejection seat triangles etc.

Yup, Valkyrie Profile is second ONLY to Xenogears. I feel however, that many people don't get the full effect of VP, because nowadays they all play it according to the FAQ, and see the "good" ending right off the bat---they don't know just how differently it plays out "normally". (and playing it the "good" way, then skipping the last step so as to see the normal ending doesn't count---you still saw the "good" 2nd half of the game---you really have to play the entire game twice to see it all--it's darn near 2 similar, but different stories on the same disc) The best example I can give, is Castlevania: SOTN. If you didn't know, it's totally possible to play the game, beat it, and think that's it. But there's a 2nd, inverted castle, if you know how to trigger it. Valk Profile 1 is almost like that. The 'good' ending, is more like the entire 2nd half of the game.- 6756 replies

I think the Su-35 was inspired by the YF-21-----it seems to be trying to have an all-seeing external sensor suite for the pilot: -

SDCC 2013 Hasbro Exclusives: Jetfire Skystriker
David Hingtgen replied to Chet's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
But it just becomes circular again---the DYRL scheme (and Roy's TV scheme) is basically the real-life Jolly Rogers scheme on the F-14---which is what the Skystriker is in the first place. Heck, with the slats out, you even get red stripes on the wings:- 158 replies

FF9 is excellent and under-rated. I think a lot of people ignored it after FF8, or somehow "carried over" their dislike of 8 onto 9. 9's music is especially good (even among Uematsu-composed FF) If it only had a decent villian, it'd be extraordinary. (they really should have made even more allusions/tie-ins to FF1, would have helped it a lot IMHO, regarding villain/plot/motivation)- 6756 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

Short version: MMC had designed Hexatron. Had molds at least partially tooled up. Factory basically blew them off and refused to actually finish the project and produce it. MMC eventually gave up on them and had to find new factory----but more importantly, get the master CAD files and molds from the original factory. Original factory were asses, and took forever to release MMC's own molds and files back to them, and seemed to have sabotaged a few critical parts first---small changes here and there that affected how things fit together, just to F'up MMC's plans, as it was hard for MMC to detect the subtle changes until they were further along and noticed things didn't work any more, when they had before. All of this delayed Hexatron greatly, as MMC both had to change factories, get their original work back, AND repair the things that the first factory had sabotaged (and carefully check over every facet and every dimension of every part, looking for what else might have been 'altered') And that's also probably another factor that took a little time---the original factory altering things as "revenge" before giving it back to MMC. MMC seems much happier with their new factory, as it seems they are competent (able to find tolerance/molding issues and fix them themselves), and aren't trying to actively screw MMC over. All of which bodes well for the current Predacon project and future ones.- 9150 replies

Based on reports of Hexatron, Mastermind is now #1, for quality/durability. And I think their Predacons could top that, since they won't need to change factories and repair mold sabotage this time around (which is why Hexatron was so delayed).- 9150 replies

SDCC 2013 Hasbro Exclusives: Jetfire Skystriker
David Hingtgen replied to Chet's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think this is great news. Hasbro is AFAIL the largest company HG has decided to mess with so far. Hasbro's got serious money and lawyer-power. The best possible result is that Hasbro goes all-out and utterly destroys HG, or at least somehow nullifies a good chunk of their licensing/rights/power within the US regarding Macross. Unlikely, though it'd be nice.- 158 replies

1. On the 1/72 YF-19, the chest had two sets of slots for the wings to connect to---one for fighter, one for GERWALK. This locked the chest in place in the "slightly raised" position, rather than just flopping about on top of the spine like on the 1/60. True, both of them have the godawful "chest doesn't lock in battroid" issue, but the 1/72 at least figured out something for GERWALK---and I believe the 1/60 VF-19 has something similar. 2. On the 1/60 YF-21, probably my biggest issue with fighter mode was how the upper rear fuselage didn't tab/lock into place at all, it purely depended on friction. And it was fighting the legs and belly plates, and usually lost. The 1/72 had a tab that locked into place totally flush and darn near seamless. Strangely, the 1/72 FP YF-21 seemed to have changed there---it was never as good as the original, the tab barely connected and always seemed "raised up" a little. But still better than the 1/60's "oh, let's just hope the friction is strong enough" method. 3. Related, the 1/72 actually had decent posts/tabs to hold the belly plates in place, especially at the rear. The 1/60---well, I don't really need to specify the various ways the 1/60's belly plates didn't hold in place or connect to anything--especially at the rear. The 1/60 really was a mess at the rear, I honestly feel the 1/72 transformed with more "finality" there. The 1/60 you just kind of shoved everything in together, smooshed it as tight as you could, and hoped the belly plates would sorta hold, while bulging all around. The 1/72---the feet and belly plates really "meshed" and didn't fight each other. (a couple of actual posts and slots could have really helped the 1/60 there, but wouldn't really have solved the root problem)

VF-19? No. Was waiting for either the -19F to get cheap, or a new Isamu. And Isamu's happened first. Also--I have seen Yamato "regress", making things worse, or "forgetting" things. Just because the VF-19 may have done something right, does not guarantee the new YF-19 will have it too. In fact, some of my (and other people's) biggest complaints about the first 1/60 YF-19 and YF-21, were not present in the old 1/72 versions----Yamato somehow "forgot" some things when making the 1/60 versions that were very much needed/appreciated on the older 1/72 versions. So I don't blindly trust them/Arcadia's design team to keep every improvement, or to not "screw up what they already fixed".

If you'd like the original sources of most of the other images: First is I believe from the "This is Animation" book, and is "the most canon" line-art there is, if that makes sense: Next is Hasegawa's, which is the most recent attempt at a "revised official detailed" depiction of the YF-21:
