It no longer works, at all. I think even previously-favorited Vipers just disappeared from lists.

Are they actually making a silver Storm, or are those customs? (they look to have awfully detailed paint, so...)- 2725 replies

Yet I have heard first-hand stories from manufacturers of model planes, how Boeing would reject a model airliner because of "black vs very dark grey" being used for the windows... I think they seem to only "care" about things they themselves designed, license-wise. (As in, they'll demand payment regardless, but if it's from Long Beach or St Louis, their accuracy standards to get that license are non-existent)- 17043 replies

As always, their thought process is "can we make the robot mode 1% more toon-accurate, even if it'll make alt-mode 35% worse? Yes, yes we can..." And thus, a whole 'nother cockpit/upper forward fuselage, that's fake, just for robot mode, that makes up the bottom half of alt-mode and doesn't really hide anywhere... Same as Prime's two completely separate sets of "big square windows". (and yet neither one is alt-mode accurate!)- 17043 replies

Shuttle upgrade, phase 1 complete! All credit to Cameron from "Bricks in Space" for the "flush hinges" mod----https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10100172786209769&set=pcb.1010098302728754

When the IJN Mushashi had a dark deck, it was literally just soot gathered from the exhaust stack, rubbed into the deck's planking to darken it. So an exact match is pretty much impossible, and any variation/unevenness would be accurate. So long as it's "dark", you're good with any attempt to match it.

I was hoping for something more like "remove hidden screw cover, then remove screw". I've had some bad experiences with glued-in-pegs, where the part itself rips apart before the peg lets go.

Is the dish easily removable? Could either frost the backside, or paint it silver.

How's the XL Ent-C? Looks better than most, and I realized that if I reject everything based on "window printing doesn't line up" I'll never have anything. The Ent-C's window mis-alignment doesn't seem egregious, among the line-up.

Are we sure about Chuck's new *valk* type being named Parmenides? Because the new Arad valk says Parmenides on the tailfin exactly the same way the regular Delta valks say "Aether" (and much like how VF-1's say Prometheus/ARMD). So I'd suspect that Parmenides is the name of a new carrier etc, and not the name of the new VF-31 variant.

It is the AOE truck, and not the BB/G1 truck. They simply don't care, or don't even realize, that it's a different brand/model of semi. They are making whole new sculpts, off of the wrong reference material---how hard is it to "watch the movie" and maybe google "what type of truck was Optimus in the Bumblebee movie? And that's not even accounting for them likely having access to official movie production material etc. And at this point, they certainly don't have the "have to work off of early concept art, and get it on the shelves by the time the movie comes out" excuse. They've had YEARS.- 17043 replies

A good "cheap" spray paint is the the Krylon "chalky" line. Ignore the name, it just means "nicely matte" in my experience, there is no additive/special effect like many other sub-lines have. They have several nice greys that are good for either primer or base coat. I'll vouch for "misty grey" and "paver grey". (cool and warm, respectively). IMHO misty grey is a very good SW Imperial grey, with paver grey a good Rebel Alliance color.

A bit late, but I agree, the Arcadia color is perfect, so Gabe's custom-mix that matches that is gonna be as good as it gets. (and it's a "simple" mix too, there's so many that have like a 14:19:26:3 ratio....)

Tamiya AS-16 is a great color, I feel that the Tamiya AS line has several colors that are the only examples that are the only "truly correct" paints out there, for FS matches. Most notably, Insignia White. Like 19 out of 20 "Insignia White" paints are totally wrong----they're just pure bright white with a different name slapped on. But Tamiya AS-20? THAT is the true color of Insignia White----a very very pale blue-grey. (especially great for "white" Star Wars stuff)

Update---It arrived at my place while the site was down---but it made it! Took about 6 days from arrival in-country to my door. Box was in pretty good shape, I did notice it was made of THICK cardboard, like twice as thick as normal. Don't know if it was because HLJ is boxing extra-sturdy for "by boat" shipping, or if it was due to raw size of the box.

My only concern is if M&M have WHITE accents, and not the hideous grey like the latest HMR's.

Well, my Kingdom Come Blackarachnia broke on her second (third?) transformation. Same spot everyone else's does----the tab that (literally) holds her bust in place. Snapped off. Gluing tonight, will see if I can find the right mix of "widening slot to reduce friction, while still usefully pegging in"----assuming the glue can hold the tab back on decently strong enough to work at all.- 17043 replies

Is that better or worse than the Yeager-class? Anyways, XL Nebula may be my first XL. (I've ranged from moderately disappointed to very disappointed with pretty much all the other XL's, few really seem to be better than the regulars considering their size/price)

I just saw that my slow/ferry shipping from HLJ recently arrived in-country. Almost exactly 2 months. (I shipped the first day HLJ offered it).
